To start a new Samsung Galaxy Book, keep it connected to power, complete the Windows setup prompts for region, keyboard, network and sign-in, then install available system, Samsung and app updates from the desktop. Screen names and choices can differ by model, Windows version and region.
Before turning on your Samsung laptop
Keep the laptop powered during its initial setup. Use a charger suitable for your exact Galaxy Book model; charging requirements are not identical across every model. Samsung Support advises: “Use only Samsung-approved chargers, batteries, and cables.” Check your model’s documentation if you need a replacement or spare charger. Samsung’s charging guidance describes model-dependent charging details.
Complete the first Windows setup
Turn on the laptop and follow the on-screen prompts. Samsung’s documented first-start flow includes regional settings, license acceptance, network setup, account choices, sign-in and privacy screens. The exact sequence and available options can vary.
1. Set your region, language and keyboard
Select the requested country or region, language, keyboard layout and time zone. Check the keyboard layout before entering a password: the selected layout determines how key presses are interpreted.

2. Accept the license terms and connect to a network
Review and accept the displayed license terms to continue. Choose a Wi-Fi network and enter its password, or use wired internet if available. Samsung notes that when the laptop is connected by wire, the Wi-Fi prompt may not appear.
3. Choose how to sign in
The account screen may offer Microsoft-account sign-in, account creation or other sign-in options. Follow the choices actually shown on your Windows setup; they are not the same for every configuration. If the setup offers to restore settings, OneDrive files or Microsoft Store apps from another device, decide whether you want to use that option.

4. Create a PIN and review privacy choices
If prompted, create a Windows Hello PIN and review the privacy settings before confirming them. Personalization, OneDrive, Office and Game Pass screens may also appear as optional choices or offers. Read each prompt and choose whether it suits you; these offers are not all necessary to finish setup.

After reaching the desktop, install updates
Connect to the internet, then check for Windows, Samsung device and app updates. Update names and availability depend on your model and Windows version.

- Check Samsung Update: Open Samsung Update if it is available on your supported Samsung PC, and install the recommended Samsung apps and drivers offered for that device.
- Use Windows Update if needed: If Samsung Update is unsupported or unavailable, use Windows Update to check for system updates and available drivers.
- Update Store apps: Open Microsoft Store and check for app updates after the operating-system and device updates.

If a setup prompt or update does not appear
- No Wi-Fi prompt: A wired network connection may have supplied internet access, so Windows may not ask you to select Wi-Fi.
- Samsung Update is missing or unsupported: Check Windows Update instead; Samsung Update is intended for supported Samsung PCs.
- A setting differs from these steps: Follow the screen on your device. Samsung’s setup guidance is model- and Windows-version-dependent, and its India guide likewise cautions that steps can vary. Samsung India’s setup article is specific to that market and should not be treated as a universal regional flow.
