Release date, storefronts and launch offer
Stardock’s official release announcement sets Ashes of the Singularity II’s launch for November 10, 2026. The date was published on October 14, 2026, in the official Stardock forum announcement.
The game will be sold digitally on Steam and directly through Stardock, with a launch discount. The announcement does not state the discount percentage, a final price, or whether the offer will have an end date, so check the relevant store listing before buying. The official materials identify digital routes only; they do not confirm a boxed PC edition, console release or physical collector’s edition.
What kind of strategy game is it?
Ashes of the Singularity II is a large-scale real-time strategy game from Oxide Games, with Stardock Entertainment as publisher. Its near-future story follows humanity’s survival during a war against the Post-Human Coalition and the AI Substrate. Earth’s nations have united as the United Earth Forces, creating the human side of the conflict.

The design goal is to let players manage a war across enormous battlefields rather than a small group of units. Stardock and Oxide describe continent-sized maps, strategic zoom that reaches from an orbital view down to frontline combat, all-terrain warfare and logistics-focused command. The companies also describe engagements with thousands of units simultaneously. That is an official scale claim, not an independently measured performance benchmark; no frame-rate test, player-count figure or system-requirement specification has been published in the cited announcements.
The three confirmed factions
| Faction | Role in the setting | What is confirmed |
|---|---|---|
| United Earth Forces (UEF) | Earth’s nations, united to defend humanity | A playable human faction with its own units, strategy and philosophy |
| Post-Human Coalition (PHC) | A post-human power opposing the UEF | A playable faction with unique units, strategy and philosophy |
| AI Substrate | A massive machine intelligence threatening humanity | A playable faction with unique units, strategy and philosophy |
Stardock says each faction is intended to play differently rather than serving as a cosmetic variation. Brad Wardell, Stardock’s chief executive, said the most requested feature after the first game was a human faction: “Obviously, in the first game, the number one request was to have a human faction.” He added that the team wanted players to see how humans fare against the Substrate’s and PHC’s mechanical armies. The announcement does not yet provide a complete unit roster, technology tree or balance breakdown for any faction.

How the large-scale battles are meant to work
Strategic zoom and battlefield awareness
The camera is designed to move between an orbital command perspective and close frontline combat. At the higher level, players can read the shape of a continental operation; at the lower level, they can inspect individual engagements and terrain. The announcement presents this as a core command tool, not merely a visual effect.
Logistics and all-terrain warfare
Logistics is a stated focus, so winning should involve sustaining armies and positioning forces across varied terrain, not only selecting attack orders. “All-terrain warfare” indicates that the battlefield’s geography is expected to matter, although the published material does not yet define terrain bonuses, supply rules or movement penalties.

Scale without a published hardware target
The “thousands of units” description communicates intended battle scale. It should not be read as a guaranteed unit count on every PC or as proof of a particular frame rate. Stardock and Oxide have not released minimum or recommended system requirements, a benchmark scene, supported operating-system list or performance targets. Avoid choosing hardware solely from the unit-count claim until those specifications are available.
