Star Wars Zero Company is a single-player, turn-based tactics game for players who want to plan squad actions in the Clone Wars rather than control a character in real time. It launched August 27, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. EA’s materials describe a campaign with tactical missions, investigations, and between-mission squad management; they do not establish how well those systems play in practice. This is a feature-based review, not a hands-on verdict.
What is Star Wars Zero Company?
Published by Electronic Arts and developed by Bit Reactor in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games, with Respawn Entertainment also named as a collaborator, Star Wars Zero Company is set during the twilight of the Clone Wars. You command Hawks, a former Republic officer, and a group of hired operatives recruited by Republic Intelligence. Their mission is to stop the Separatist-aligned Infinite Coil and its leader, Kundri Fathom, before the Shadow Plague spreads. EA’s game overview presents it as a mix of tactical operations, investigations, and squad management.
The premise offers a different angle on the conflict: the squad works in the shadows rather than fighting as a conventional Republic unit. Lucasfilm Games describes the story as exploring the Clone Wars from a perspective not previously seen in the franchise. That makes the setup promising for fans interested in espionage and less familiar characters, but it is not evidence by itself that the writing or cast will land for every player.
How do the missions and combat work?
Combat is turn-based, not real-time. StarWars.com explains the basic exchange: choose an operator’s action, see its result, and then the opponent takes a turn. The format centers on deliberate decisions about positioning, actions, and squad composition rather than reflexes. Official materials emphasize tailoring a squad to mission needs and building bonds that can unlock support abilities or combat synergies. StarWars.com’s final-trailer feature provides further context on the game’s setting and squad.
#1 Best Overall
- Standard Edition for PlayStation 5 (disc) includes the full Star Wars Zero Company game. Single-player turn-based tactics set in the twilight of the Clone Wars—lead Hawks and Zero Company in an intense campaign.
- Build your squad from clone troopers, scoundrels, astromechs and even a Jedi—combine abilities and gear in deep Tactical-Strategy combat.
- Plan at your base, adapt on dynamic battlefields and make decisions that shape missions and replayability in this cinematic Star Wars story.
- Customise Hawks and your operatives, tailor loadouts and unlock powerful squad synergies designed for Strategy, Turn-Based and Sci-Fi fans.
Whether those systems make each operation feel distinct depends on details that feature descriptions cannot settle. The key questions for a prospective player are whether tactical options are easy to read, whether choices have meaningful consequences, and whether changing the squad changes how a mission plays. The same distinction applies to the investigations: they may add useful context between battles, but the available descriptions do not establish their pacing or how much time they take away from combat.
What happens between missions?
The Den serves as the squad’s base of operations. EA says players can recruit and customize operators, upgrade facilities, dispatch from a galaxy map, and gather intelligence. Appearance, loadouts, and abilities can also be tailored. This creates a management layer around the battles, giving players several ways to prepare and shape their team.

- PC download code for EA app. Single-player turn-based tactics set in the twilight of the Clone Wars—lead Hawks and Zero Company in a gritty Star Wars campaign.
- Deluxe Edition: Unlock Clone Wars–inspired cosmetics including the Republic Officer Uniform, 100th Clone Company Armor Set and ARC Trooper Armor Set.
- Includes the Shadow Collective Cosmetic Pack with the Pyke Helmet Cosmetic, five cosmetic tattoos and five themed weapon set designs.
- Single-player turn-based tactics set in the twilight of the Clone Wars—lead Hawks and Zero Company in a gritty, cinematic Star Wars campaign.
That structure could appeal to players who enjoy gradually building a roster and planning for the next operation. Players looking for a nearly uninterrupted sequence of battles may find the base and investigation systems less appealing; how intrusive or rewarding they feel is not established by the official feature list.

Is it suitable for newcomers to tactics games?
StarWars.com says tutorials and on-screen tips introduce the systems, and EA says difficulty can be adjusted outside combat. These are useful onboarding provisions, especially for players new to turn-based tactics. They do not guarantee that every mechanic is easy to learn, but they suggest the game is not designed only for genre veterans.

- Command an elite squad through a gritty and authentic Star Wars story set in the twilight of the Clone Wars. Step into the role of Hawks, a former Republic officer leading Zero Company against an emerging threat that could consume the galaxy.
EA estimates that the main story takes around 30 to 40 hours for most players. That is the publisher’s estimate, not an independently measured average; EA says the time varies with difficulty and experience with turn-based tactics. Where can you play it, and does it have multiplayer?
