Physical and digital availability
EA’s support FAQ says Standard Edition physical copies are available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S through selected retailers. That wording does not guarantee stock at every retailer, so check the specific store before paying. PC versions are presented through digital storefronts.
Standard and Deluxe editions
EA lists Standard and Deluxe editions. Both include the base game. The Deluxe Edition adds cosmetic content and weapon themes; it does not represent a separate campaign or multiplayer tier. Because storefront prices and promotions change, use the store page for the current amount rather than relying on a launch announcement.
EA’s August 28, 2026 launch announcement gave the Digital Deluxe Edition a suggested retail price of $59.99 on PC and $69.99 on consoles. Those are launch-announcement SRPs, not a guarantee of today’s price. The same announcement listed a Collector’s Edition SRP of $299.99. Its described contents include a themed Hasbro Black Series Thermal Detonator, a Steelbook, a desk mat, and additional items. Treat that figure and those contents as launch information and verify availability before ordering.

It is single-player only. EA says Star Wars Zero Company does not include online competitive multiplayer, online co-op, local co-op, split-screen co-op, or other online social features. You control Hawks and the squad; there is no second player taking command of another operator and no player-versus-player mode.

The PC requirements do not list an internet connection as necessary for gameplay itself. You may still need a connection to download the game, install patches, authenticate through a storefront, or use platform-specific services. An offline session therefore depends on the launcher and console having completed any required setup first.
How does the turn-based combat work?
Combat is built around deliberate planning rather than real-time reflexes. The official StarWars.com guide describes a repeating sequence: choose an operator’s action, see the result, and then the opponent takes a turn. You are expected to consider positioning, health, available actions, and the order in which the squad acts before committing to a move.
Action points and operator turns
Each operator has health points and three action points. Those points can be spent to move, attack, or use abilities. A turn might involve moving to cover and firing, moving farther to reach an objective, or combining an ability with an attack. Spending all three points early can leave a character exposed, so the useful decision is often what to keep available for the next exchange rather than simply dealing the most immediate damage.
Positioning and squad planning
Positioning determines which operators can reach a target, who is exposed, and whether the squad can support a character after the opponent acts. Before confirming actions, check distances, likely lines of attack, remaining action points, and the health of anyone already under pressure. The game’s tactical identity comes from arranging several operators’ moves as one plan instead of treating every character as an independent attacker.

- Command an elite squad through a gritty and authentic Star Wars story set in the twilight of the Clone Wars. Step into the role of Hawks, a former Republic officer leading Zero Company against an emerging threat that could consume the galaxy.
Abilities and team composition
Operators bring different abilities and roles. Recruiting and customizing the squad lets you prepare a team for the operation ahead rather than using one fixed lineup for every encounter. The exact combination of movement, attacks, and abilities matters because one operator’s turn can create an opening or safe position for another. EA also says relationships and team synergies complement the combat system, so squad management is part of the strategy, not only a cosmetic menu.
What do you do between battles?
The campaign is more than a chain of firefights. EA describes a loop that combines tactical operations, investigations, squad development, and character relationships.
Recruit and customize operators
Hawks leads Zero Company, a group of unconventional professionals recruited for missions that ordinary Republic forces cannot handle. You add squad members, adjust their equipment or presentation, and shape a team suited to upcoming encounters. Customization has a practical side: the operators you bring and the abilities you prepare affect how many options you have once a mission starts.

Between missions, you can build relationships with squad members. EA says those relationships can affect gameplay, making conversations and team bonds relevant to progression rather than purely decorative story scenes. The result is a campaign in which the people in your squad and the way you manage them matter alongside their combat statistics.

Use The Den as an operational base
The Den is Zero Company’s operational base. It is where the campaign’s preparation and investigation elements connect: you manage the squad, develop bonds, and decide how to approach what comes next. The base gives the story a persistent home instead of resetting the cast after every mission.
What is the story setting and premise?
The campaign takes place in the twilight of the Clone Wars, when the Republic and Separatist conflict is approaching its decisive phase. Hawks, a former Republic officer, is recruited by Republic Intelligence to lead Zero Company against the Infinite Coil, a Separatist-aligned cult.
The group’s leader, Kundri Fathom, is tied to a threat called the Shadow Plague. The objective is to stop the Infinite Coil before that plague consumes the galaxy. This is an original story rather than a retelling of a film campaign, and its missions combine investigations with tactical operations.

At launch, Game Director and Bit Reactor CEO Greg Foertsch said, “After all these years of hard work from our amazing team, Star Wars Zero Company is a go for launch.” Douglas Reilly, vice president and general manager of Lucasfilm Games, described the project as “a deep, tactical experience set in the darker corners of the Clone Wars.” Both comments are promotional launch statements, useful for understanding the intended tone but not independent reviews of the finished game.

How long does it take to complete Star Wars Zero Company?
EA estimates that most players will need about 30 to 40 hours to complete the main story campaign. That figure is Electronic Arts’ 2026 publisher estimate, not an independently measured average. Your total can be shorter or longer depending on selected difficulty, familiarity with turn-based tactics, time spent investigating, and how much you engage with squad relationships and customization.
The estimate refers to the main story. It does not promise a fixed total for every optional activity or for replaying missions with different squad configurations. Players who experiment with team builds or raise the difficulty should expect the campaign to take longer than a direct, story-focused run.
Is it suitable if I am new to tactics games?
StarWars.com says tutorials and on-screen tips introduce the game’s systems, and that difficulty can be adjusted outside combat. Those features make it more approachable than a tactics game that assumes you already understand action points, positioning, and ability chains. They do not mean every encounter will be effortless: you still need to think through the order of actions and protect operators whose health is low.
A practical approach for newcomers
- Read the tutorial prompts instead of dismissing them; they establish the action-point and turn sequence.
- Start on a lower difficulty if you are learning the genre, then adjust it outside combat when the system becomes familiar.
- Before ending a turn, account for every operator’s position and remaining action points.
- Use the between-mission period to improve the squad and understand relationships before the next operation.
This structure favors players who enjoy planning, character management, and a campaign that gives them time to consider consequences. It is a poor fit if you are looking specifically for a real-time lightsaber action game, an online squad shooter, or a competitive Star Wars battler.
Which version should you choose?
| Choice | Best fit | What to verify |
|---|---|---|
| PC via EA app | Players who prefer the EA launcher and keyboard, mouse, or a connected controller. | Current system requirements, storage space, launcher installation, and any required account sign-in. |
| PC via Steam | Players who keep their library and controller settings in Steam. | The current Steam listing, install requirements, and whether the game launches an additional EA service. |
| PC via Epic Games Store | Players who use Epic as their main PC storefront. | The current store listing and any account-linking or launcher requirements shown at purchase. |
| PlayStation 5 | Players who want a console version and may prefer a physical Standard Edition. | Current digital price, disc stock, available storage, and console updates. |
| Xbox Series X|S | Players in the current Xbox generation who want console play or a physical Standard Edition. | Current digital price, disc stock, available storage, and console updates. |
| Standard Edition | Anyone who wants the base campaign without additional cosmetic items. | Whether the current listing is digital or physical and the price at that retailer. |
| Deluxe Edition | Players who want the extra cosmetic content and weapon themes. | The exact bonus-item list and current price, since launch SRPs are historical. |
There is no gameplay-mode advantage to selecting one platform over another in the published information: the campaign is single-player everywhere listed. Choose based on the system you own, your preferred storefront, physical-media availability, and the controls you find most comfortable for menu-heavy tactical play.
What makes it different from other Star Wars games?
Its defining difference is the format. Instead of real-time action, Zero Company asks you to direct a squad through turns, with three action points per operator and an opponent phase after your choices. The campaign also gives unusual weight to recruiting, customization, investigations, and relationships at The Den.
That combination places it closer to a character-driven tactics campaign than to a traditional arcade-style Star Wars action game. The setting remains recognizably Star Wars—the late Clone Wars, Republic Intelligence, Separatists, and original threats—but the player’s moment-to-moment role is a commander planning a team rather than a lone hero reacting in real time.
