For most new players, the landspeeder is the best starting choice: StarWars.com describes it as stable, durable, and ideal for getting started in the Galactic League. Choose a speeder bike if you prefer speed and agility and can handle its lighter armor and loss of control during its speed burst. The skim speeder offers a faster, more technical ride, while podracers are a distinct high-speed option built around ramjets and airbraking.
Which vehicle should you choose?
| Vehicle | What it does well | Main tradeoff | Good fit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Landspeeder | Stable cornering, handling, and durability | Less emphasis on outright speed | New players and racers who value control or resilience |
| Speeder bike | Velocity, agility, and maneuverability | Little armor; its Kinetic Burst costs control | Players comfortable with risk and precise control |
| Skim speeder | Speed and a distinctive pivot-style turn, as described by a reviewer | Twitchier handling, according to that review | Players who enjoy technical precision |
| Podracer | Very high speed from ramjets | Airbraking sharply reduces velocity; reviews describe it as fragile and appearing in particular conditions | Players seeking a specialized high-speed racing experience |
These are tradeoffs, not a proven ranking: the available sources do not establish class speed values, win rates, or performance percentages. The game describes its vehicle classes as having distinct physics and playstyles, so the right pick depends on how you prefer to race.
What are the vehicle types in Star Wars: Galactic Racer?
Landspeeder: a forgiving starting point
StarWars.com describes landspeeders as beefier repulsorcraft with excellent handling, stability through corners, and comparatively strong durability. Its vehicle guide calls them ideal for getting started in the Galactic League. They are not built for speed, though a well-timed ramjet boost can help.
Creative Bloq’s reviewer also characterized landspeeders as solid all-rounders, with decent handling and less base speed. The reviewer chose one in the single-player campaign for its handling and robustness; that is an individual preference, not a guarantee of results for every player.

Speeder bike: agility with less margin for error
According to StarWars.com, speeder bikes trade systems for velocity and agility. Their Kinetic Burst temporarily increases speed at the cost of control, and the lightweight craft offers little armor. The official guide warns that wide turns can be difficult for inexperienced riders and that bikes are easier to crash.
TechRadar’s reviewer favored the bike’s compact agility and vectored thrust for tight turns on dunes and icy tracks. That makes it a useful example of who might enjoy the class, rather than evidence that bikes are objectively the best choice.

Skim speeder: a more technical ride
The official vehicle guide identifies the skim speeder as a repulsorcraft making its debut in the game, but does not give the same detailed handling comparison it provides for landspeeders and bikes. Creative Bloq’s reviewer describes skim speeders as fast but twitchy, with one edge tilting down to act as a pivot during turns. Treat that specific handling description as reviewer experience, not an official class specification.
Podracer: a specialized high-speed experience
Galactic Racer’s podracers use ramjets for higher speeds and an airbrake for tight turns, according to StarWars.com. Braking sharply reduces velocity, so the challenge is balancing a turn against lost speed. Creative Bloq describes podracers as much faster and more fragile than speeders, while TechRadar reports seeing them in select missions. That supports treating them as a more situational vehicle experience rather than assuming they are interchangeable with the three main speeder classes.

How vehicle choice fits into your build
Vehicle class is one part of a broader setup. TechRadar reports that each tour begins with a loadout choice that includes a vehicle, Favours, and Racer Style; the Racer Style dictates speeder behavior and active perks. Reviews also describe upgrades and customization. Because those elements interact, the available sources do not establish a universally optimal build.
StarWars.com’s gameplay-trailer article quotes Lucasfilm Games executive producer Craig Derrick describing the goal as “a racing experience that’s cinematic, skill-driven, and unmistakably Star Wars.” The class descriptions reflect that emphasis on different handling styles rather than a single stated best vehicle.
