No available report establishes that the Srisailam temple trust board approved a single 30-year master plan that includes AI monitoring. The reports describe two separate efforts: a 2023 direction to prepare a long-range amenities plan, and a 2026 proposal for AI-based darshan management and a new queue complex. A later report attributes to the board chairman a claim that AI-linked CCTV was being used to regulate movement, but it does not provide technical documentation or independent confirmation.
What has been reported—and what has not
The headline combines separate developments. The New Indian Express reported in March 2023 that Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K. S. Jawahar Reddy directed officials to prepare an amenities action plan for the next 25–30 years, described in the report as a Smart Infrastructure Master Plan. That direction is not evidence that the trust board approved a final plan.
In June 2026, The New Indian Express reported a separate proposal for an AI-based darshan management system alongside a queue complex. Its account described a preliminary survey, an estimated cost and intended milestones. It does not establish that the project reached tender, construction or commissioning. The report’s stated August target has passed; without a newer verified status update, that milestone should not be treated as completion.
In September 2026, HMTV reported the trust board chairman as saying CCTV cameras had been integrated with AI to regulate pilgrim and vehicle movement. That is a reported statement, not an official technical specification or independent verification. No published measurement in the available reporting establishes the system’s effectiveness or defines its capabilities.

How the reported initiatives differ
| Initiative | What the reports say | Status established by the reports | Figures and qualifications |
|---|---|---|---|
| Long-range amenities planning, March 2023 | Direction to prepare an infrastructure and amenities action plan covering topics such as accommodation, roads, queue complexes, dormitories, utilities, greenery and zoning. | Planning direction reported from the Chief Secretary; final trust-board approval is not established. | 25–30 years was the reported planning horizon, not a confirmed approved plan term. |
| AI darshan management and queue complex, June 2026 | Proposal described alongside a preliminary survey, with a goal of improving pilgrim flow. | Proposed project; tender, construction and commissioning are not established. | ₹145 crore was a newspaper-reported estimate, not a final award or expenditure. A 45-minute darshan-and-exit time was a target, not measured performance. |
| AI-linked CCTV, September 2026 | HMTV attributed to the board chairman a statement that AI-integrated CCTV was regulating pilgrim and vehicle movement. | Reported claim; technical details and independent confirmation are not established. | No measured performance figure or system specification was provided in the account. |
| PRASHAD visitor-amenities project, inaugurated December 2022 | Completed visitor facilities funded by the Union Ministry of Tourism. | Officially described by the Ministry as completed and inaugurated. | ₹43.08 crore was the reported project cost, not the cost of the later queue proposal. |
What the AI queue proposal is intended to do
The June 2026 newspaper account framed the proposed system around continuous pilgrim movement through darshan, paired with a new queue complex. It reported an administration goal of completing darshan and exiting within 45 minutes after joining the queue. The report also put current queues at two to three hours and estimated capacity at about 6,000 devotees per hour on normal days and nearly 8,600 during festivals. Those queue times and capacity figures are estimates attributed to the newspaper report, not independently audited operating results.
The reported goal is not proof that AI can guarantee a fixed wait. The source does not specify the AI model, sensor or camera configuration, data-retention rules, privacy safeguards, procurement terms, or how the system would interact with crowd-control staff. Nor does the September HMTV account supply those technical details. Readers should therefore understand “AI monitoring” as a reported administrative initiative, not a documented technical design or verified performance claim.

What the completed 2022 project included
The Ministry of Tourism’s Press Information Bureau said President Droupadi Murmu inaugurated the Srisailam development project on 26 December 2022 under the PRASHAD scheme. The Ministry listed an amphitheatre, illumination and sound-and-light show, digital interventions, tourist amenity centre, parking, changing rooms, toilets, souvenir shops, food court, and ATM and banking facilities. It reported the ₹43.08 crore project as fully funded by the Union Ministry. These completed facilities are distinct from the proposed queue complex reported in 2026.
