Squarespace is worth considering if you want a hosted website, content tools, and commerce features in one subscription. Whether it is the right fit depends on your contributor count, sales fees, and the features your site actually needs. The prices below are the US rates displayed on October 7, 2026; check the pricing page for your region and confirm current rates before subscribing.

What Squarespace includes

Squarespace describes its subscription as an all-in-one content management system that combines website hosting, designed layouts, SEO tools, a website and store editor, and site editing through its app. Version 7.1 sites use the Fluid Engine drag-and-drop editor. The platform also lists built-in AI tools, with AI credits depending on the plan. These are product features, not independent evidence of design quality, search rankings, speed, or ease of use. See Squarespace’s plan details and its platform overview.

The bundled approach can reduce the number of separate services a basic site owner must arrange. Squarespace also documents tools for invoicing clients and managing creative-service work. Its support for selling products, services, content, and memberships makes it relevant to creators, small businesses, portfolio owners, and service sellers.

How much Squarespace costs in the US

The official US pricing page displayed the following prices on October 7, 2026. Annual prices are shown as a monthly equivalent but require an annual billing commitment.

Plan Monthly billing Annual billing, displayed per month Documented distinctions
Basic $25/month $19/month Two contributors; 2% online-store transaction fee; 7% digital-content and membership fee.
Core $39/month $29/month Unlimited contributors, advanced analytics, and custom CSS and JavaScript.
Plus $65/month $49/month Lower payment-processing and digital-product fees than lower tiers, plus more video storage.
Advanced $139/month $99/month Lowest plan-level fees among these tiers and advanced commerce functions, including carrier-calculated shipping.

Squarespace advertises annual savings of up to 36%. Annual plans include one year of domain registration on an eligible domain; the domain renews at the standard rate after that first year. Taxes, location, payment processor, promotions, and plan changes can affect the final bill. These prices and plan terms can change, so confirm them on the US pricing page.

Which plan should you choose?

Basic: a small site with up to two contributors

Basic is the entry point for a smaller site whose team fits the two-contributor limit. It allows selling, but its documented online-store and digital-content fees should be included in your cost estimate. A low subscription price does not necessarily mean the lowest total cost for a seller.

Core: more contributors, analytics, or custom code

Core is the first tier described as offering unlimited contributors, advanced analytics, and custom CSS and JavaScript. It is the natural tier to assess when team access or those tools matter; do not pay for them if your site does not need them.

Plus or Advanced: compare the added capacity and commerce functions

Plus may merit consideration when its lower processing and digital-product fees or additional video storage matter to your business. Advanced adds the lowest plan-level fees among the listed tiers and functions such as carrier-calculated shipping. Choose a higher plan based on required features and expected transaction economics, not simply because you operate a store. Squarespace’s plan-selection guide describes the distinctions.

Understand store fees before committing

Squarespace plan fees and payment-processing charges are separate costs. A plan with no plan-level transaction fee does not make payment processing free. Actual charges depend on plan, payment solution, geography, and transaction type. Squarespace documents commerce uses including physical products, creative services, classes and workshops, and limited-release product drops. Review the applicable terms for your location and payment setup using its pricing page and plan guide.

To compare plans, estimate your sales volume and add the subscription cost, plan-level transaction or digital-product fees, and payment processing. Then check whether features such as contributor access, analytics, code, storage, or shipping justify a more expensive tier. This makes the decision about your total cost and needs rather than a headline fee alone.

What you can and cannot test during the trial

The 14-day trial provides access to most premium features, but trial sites cannot accept payments. That limits your ability to test a live checkout before subscribing. Some premium features are also restricted to particular plans, so confirm eligibility for the tier you intend to use. Squarespace’s plan guide and trial information provide the relevant details.

Pros and tradeoffs

Documented advantages

  • Hosting, website tools, and content management are bundled in a paid subscription.
  • Templates, a drag-and-drop editor, and editing through the mobile app are available.
  • Paid plans support selling products or services, with content and memberships also among the documented selling categories; specific tools and fees vary by tier.
  • Documentation describes invoicing and tools for creative-service work.

Documented limitations to weigh

  • It is a recurring paid subscription, and annual displayed monthly rates require an annual commitment.
  • Contributor limits, fees, analytics, custom-code access, storage, and commerce functions vary by plan.
  • The trial cannot validate a live payment flow because trial sites cannot accept payments.
  • The included domain registration is a first-year offer on an eligible domain, not a permanent free domain.

These points describe documented product features and terms. They do not establish independent results for usability, site speed, SEO performance, support quality, or customer satisfaction.

Who Squarespace is best suited to

Based on the documented bundle and commerce options, Squarespace is a plausible fit for creators, small businesses, portfolio owners, and service sellers who value having website and business tools together. It is less straightforward to judge if your deciding factor is an independently verified performance or satisfaction result: no such statistic is established here. Before choosing, check the required plan features, team size, total fees, and whether the trial’s payment limitation leaves an important checkout question unanswered.
