Final Fantasy Resonance should take roughly 20–40 hours to finish the story, while players pursuing extensive optional content should plan for approximately 70–80 hours. The latest estimate, based on Famitsu’s first review of the finished game, is shorter for the main story—about 20–30 hours—and puts full completion at about 70 hours. An earlier estimate from producer Keisuke Nakashima gave 30–40 hours for the story and up to 80 hours for completionists.
How many hours is Final Fantasy Resonance?
The most useful planning range is 20–40 hours for a story-focused playthrough and 70–80 hours for a run that includes most optional content. These are estimates rather than a guaranteed completion time. Your difficulty setting, exploration habits, battle pace and decision to pursue side content can move the final total within—or beyond—those ranges.

For a practical schedule, reserve a few evenings or a long weekend for the campaign, and substantially more time if you intend to clear optional objectives, explore thoroughly and pursue completion-oriented goals.

Why the estimates do not match
The difference is mainly chronological and methodological. Nakashima’s 30–40-hour and up-to-80-hour figures were shared before the game’s first review of the finished release. Famitsu’s later 20–30-hour and roughly-70-hour figures come from playing the completed game rather than projecting its scope during development.

Neither source establishes a definitive, publisher-guaranteed runtime. The two reports are best read as a range: the earlier producer statement describes a longer expected campaign, while the first finished-game review provides a tighter observed estimate. Broader post-launch play data could refine those numbers after release.
What counts as “beating” the game?
Story-focused completion
A story run means following the central narrative and finishing the required progression without attempting every optional activity. The newest reported estimate places this at about 20–30 hours, but players who explore more deliberately or take longer in combat may land closer to the earlier 30–40-hour projection.

Full or extensive completion
The 70–80-hour range applies to players who add optional content and spend time pursuing a much more complete run. The available reports do not publish a definitive checklist for a 100-percent file, so “completionist” should be understood as an extensive playthrough rather than a precisely measured in-game percentage.

Square Enix says the demo lasts approximately three to five hours and covers the opening through chapter one. Save data carries into the full game, allowing players to continue from their demo progress rather than restarting when the complete release becomes available.

Release date and platforms
Final Fantasy Resonance launches on October 22, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, Steam and Windows PC. Square Enix’s Japanese notice lists October 23, 2026 for the Steam release in Japan, reflecting a regional date difference.
Square Enix describes the project as the first HD-2D game in the FINAL FANTASY series. It is based on the first story arc of FINAL FANTASY BRAVE EXVIUS, but the publisher says it has been extensively rebuilt as a full console-quality RPG rather than being a direct port.

Which estimate should you use?
- Only the narrative matters: budget 20–30 hours, with 30–40 hours as a safer allowance for slower exploration or combat.
- You want a broad playthrough: plan around 70 hours.
- You routinely chase optional objectives: keep as much as 80 hours available.
- You are undecided: play the three-to-five-hour demo first; its save transfer lets you evaluate the opening without losing progress.
The fairest expectation is therefore not one fixed number but a two-part range: roughly 20–40 hours to see the story and 70–80 hours for extensive completion. The shorter, newer review estimate and the earlier producer estimate describe different points in the game’s reporting timeline, not necessarily a contradiction in the game itself.
