What HLS does—and does not—tell you
HTTP Live Streaming (HLS) is a protocol for delivering live and on-demand audio and video over ordinary web servers and content delivery networks. Apple’s HLS documentation describes playback that can adapt to changing wired and wireless network conditions. A web app can use an HLS playlist, commonly identified by an m3u8 URL, as an input to a compatible player flow.
Using HLS does not by itself establish a stream’s latency, reliability, rights status, or ability to serve a large audience. Sportivo’s project account supplies no measured latency, concurrency, uptime, buffering, or bitrate results, so none of those outcomes can be inferred from its choice of playback wrapper.

What a production sports-streaming service would still need
A functioning interface that opens a stream is only one layer of a broadcast service. AWS’s Live Streaming on AWS implementation guide documents a reference architecture that includes redundant input feeds, adaptive-bitrate encoding, packaging for HLS, DASH, or CMAF, delivery through CloudFront, and content protection using systems such as FairPlay, Widevine, or PlayReady. These are general production components, not services shown to be part of Sportivo.
