Canagold’s New Polaris gold-antimony project has completed a feasibility study, but the available company materials do not establish that construction has been approved or that a final decision is imminent. The project still depends on a Taku River Tlingit First Nation consent decision and a British Columbia Environmental Assessment Certificate, followed by construction and operating permits.
This is sponsored corporate video coverage. The project details and economic figures below are attributed to Canagold and are not independent verification of approvals, forecasts or operating results.
What is New Polaris?
New Polaris is a proposed gold-antimony project in northwest British Columbia that Canagold Resources describes as 100%-owned. The company filed a feasibility-study technical report under NI 43-101 on September 3, 2025. A feasibility study evaluates a proposed mine using stated technical and economic assumptions; it is not evidence that a mine is operating or will necessarily be built.

What does the feasibility study estimate?
Canagold’s 2025 feasibility materials report the following estimates. The NPV, IRR and payback figures below are based on an assumed gold price of US$2,500 per ounce; they are modeled project outcomes, not realized performance.
| Measure | Canagold’s 2025 estimate |
|---|---|
| Pre-production capital | US$250 million |
| After-tax net present value (NPV) | US$425 million, assuming US$2,500 gold |
| After-tax internal rate of return (IRR) | 30.9%, assuming US$2,500 gold |
| Payback period | 2.4 years, assuming US$2,500 gold |
| Life-of-mine all-in sustaining cost (AISC) | US$1,247 per payable gold ounce |
These are feasibility projections. Results can change with metal prices and other project assumptions, and actual costs, schedules and production may differ. The technical report also recommends further work to reduce risks before a construction decision.

What approvals remain before construction?
Canagold’s feasibility page identifies two key prerequisites: a consent decision from the Taku River Tlingit First Nation (TRTFN) and a British Columbia Environmental Assessment Certificate under the provincial Environmental Assessment Act. The company says construction and operating permits may be applied for and issued under applicable provincial and federal legislation after environmental assessment is completed.
These are distinct steps. A feasibility study and a place on a government project map do not substitute for consent, environmental certification or the permits needed to build and operate. The available materials do not establish that those requirements have been met or that construction is authorized.

What has Canagold announced about timing?
Environmental-assessment process
Canagold said its Initial Project Description submission in March 2023 formally began the early-engagement phase of British Columbia’s environmental-assessment process. That is a dated company-reported milestone; it does not establish the project’s precise assessment stage today.
2026 project update
In a March 16, 2026 announcement, Canagold said New Polaris had been added to the Canadian government’s advanced gold-antimony projects map and that a fully funded 7,000-metre diamond drilling program was planned to start in June 2026. The announcement establishes what the company said was planned; it does not confirm whether the drilling subsequently began or finished. Inclusion on the map is not a construction authorization.

Earlier company timeline
Canagold’s March 2025 corporate presentation included a timeline for permitting, feasibility and financing decisions across 2025 and 2026. That was a company plan at the time, not proof that financing or permits were completed or that a construction decision was made.
What does the company say about the project’s next phase?
Canagold CEO Catalin Kilofliski said the company was shifting its primary focus toward permitting to advance New Polaris toward a construction and production decision. He also described continued work on antimony revenue potential and possible run-of-river power to reduce power costs and emissions. These are company statements about priorities and potential, not confirmation that the proposed benefits have been achieved.

Canagold’s feasibility page also quotes TRTFN spokesperson Charmaine Thom on the company’s land acknowledgement and willingness to work toward a consent-based agreement. The quote reflects the spokesperson’s statement as presented by Canagold; it should not be read as a complete account of the Nation’s position on every project issue.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. So, when will Canagold make a construction decision?
The available dated materials do not give a confirmed decision date. They describe permitting dependencies, a 2026 drilling plan, and the company’s goal of advancing the project toward a decision. Because the technical report recommends further risk-reduction work and the required consent and environmental certificate are not established here as secured, a specific construction timetable would be speculative.
