Spirit Christmas uses different deadlines for holiday-themed and non-holiday merchandise. For an in-store purchase, holiday-themed items qualify for a refund through December 12 and an exchange through December 24. Non-holiday items qualify for refunds or exchanges through December 30. The in-store policy does not print a year beside those dates, so check the receipt and the current store notice for the season in which you bought the item.

Missing a refund deadline does not automatically mean an exchange is available. For example, a holiday decoration may still be exchangeable through December 24 even though its refund cutoff was December 12.

How the holiday-themed rules work in stores
Refunds end earlier than exchanges
For holiday-themed merchandise bought in a Spirit Christmas store, the refund cutoff is December 12. After that date, the seasonal policy allows exchanges through December 24, but it does not promise a refund. This distinction matters when a gift recipient wants money returned rather than another item.
Spirit’s stated wording is: “Refunds on holiday-themed items are available through December 12th, and exchanges are available through December 24th.” Treat December 12 and December 24 as separate deadlines, not as one general return period.
Non-holiday merchandise has the later cutoff
Spirit Christmas says non-holiday-themed items can be refunded or exchanged through December 30. Its policy states: “In our Spirit Christmas stores, we gladly offer refunds and exchanges on non-holiday themed items through December 30th.” A product’s location in a Christmas store does not, by itself, make it holiday-themed; classify the merchandise itself.

The in-store Christmas page gives December dates without printing a year beside them. Before traveling to a store, compare the date with your receipt, any current in-store notice and the season’s posted policy. This is especially important if you are using an older receipt or attempting a return after the holiday period.

- The original receipt.
- The item in resalable condition.
- The original packaging.
“Resalable” means the store must be able to put the product back into saleable inventory. Damage, missing parts, heavy use, opened packaging or absent instructions can prevent approval even when you are within the date window.
Receipt requirements
Bring the receipt that identifies the purchase. A payment-card statement, order confirmation screenshot or gift conversation is not described as a substitute in the Christmas-specific policy. If you received the item as a gift, ask the giver for the receipt before the applicable deadline; the policy does not promise a receipt-free gift refund.

Keep the box, labels, inserts, fasteners, manuals and other components together. The general online requirements specifically call for the original accessories, while the in-store Christmas rule calls for original packaging. Preserving both gives the store or return center the best chance to accept the item.
Consumables and other exclusions
Consumables are final sale
The Christmas-specific page expressly says all sales of consumables are final. Do not plan to return edible, use-up or otherwise consumable holiday merchandise, even if it is unopened, unless a separate written exception on your receipt or item terms says otherwise.
General online exclusions
The general Terms of Sale also identify categories that may be excluded from online returns: intimate products, wigs, body jewelry, custom products and clearance merchandise. These exclusions come from the general terms rather than the seasonal Christmas paragraph. Check the invoice and item-specific terms to see whether one applies to your purchase.

The seasonal page supplies the Christmas merchandise deadlines; the general terms supply the broader online framework and detailed exclusions. Use both scopes together rather than replacing the Christmas dates with a generic 30-day assumption.
How to return a Spirit Christmas online order
Step 1: Check the order and deadline
Open the account return flow or read the instructions on the invoice. For an online holiday-themed item, Spirit’s seasonal rule says the package must be postmarked before December 24, 2026. A package mailed on or after that date may fall outside the seasonal window even if you started the request earlier.
Step 2: Confirm condition and contents
Online returns should be unworn and include the original accessories. Pack the merchandise securely in its original packaging when possible. Remove personal labels or unrelated materials from the parcel, and make sure the item matches the order being returned.
Step 3: Include the required paperwork
Follow the account or invoice instructions for the return slip and any other paperwork. Missing documentation can slow identification of the parcel or delay the refund.
Step 4: Prepay and track the shipment
Spirit generally requires the customer to prepay return shipping unless an stated exception applies. Use a carrier service with tracking, retain the receipt and monitor delivery to the return center. The postmark proves when you handed over the package; tracking helps establish when Spirit received it.

Step 5: Order a replacement separately
Spirit says online exchanges are handled by placing a new order and returning the original item for a refund. There is no direct online exchange shipment. If the replacement is time-sensitive, place the new order as soon as you decide, while understanding that the original return remains subject to the deadline and condition rules.
Refund method, shipping charges and posting time
Spirit generally credits an approved refund to the original payment method. Original shipping charges and return shipping charges are generally not refunded, so the amount credited may be less than the item’s full delivered cost.

These are estimates, not guarantees. A carrier delay, incomplete paperwork, condition review or holiday processing backlog can extend the time before the credit appears. Keep the tracking record and receipt until the refund posts.
Choosing the right route: store or online
Use a store return when
- You bought the item in a Spirit Christmas store and can reach a store before the applicable cutoff.
- You have the receipt and original packaging with you.
- You need an exchange and the item is holiday-themed, because the in-store exchange window runs through December 24.
- You want to avoid paying return postage and waiting for warehouse processing.
Use the online process when
- The purchase was made online and the invoice or account flow directs you to the return center.
- You cannot visit a store before the deadline.
- You are returning a holiday-themed online item that will be postmarked before December 24, 2026.
- You are prepared to pay eligible return postage and wait for warehouse receipt and refund processing.
Do not assume an online order can be handed to a Spirit Christmas store. The published online instructions direct you to the return-center process, while the in-store dates apply to merchandise returned at a store. Confirm the channel shown on your invoice before traveling.

“Can I return a Christmas decoration after December 12?”
If it is holiday-themed and you bought it in a store, the published refund deadline has passed after December 12. An exchange may still be available through December 24 if you have the receipt, original packaging and a resalable item. A refund after December 12 is not promised by the seasonal policy.

“Can I exchange a gift after Christmas?”
A holiday-themed in-store gift may be exchangeable through December 24, which is before Christmas Day. A non-holiday item may be exchanged through December 30. The receipt, resalable condition and original packaging still apply. Once the relevant date has passed, the policy does not promise an exchange.
“I lost the receipt. What are my options?”
The Christmas-specific in-store rule requires a receipt. Ask the purchaser for the original receipt or check whether the order was online and can be located through the account or invoice. Do not rely on a card statement as an accepted substitute unless the store confirms that exception.
“The item is unopened, but it is a consumable. Can I return it?”
No return is promised: the Christmas page states that all consumables are final sale. Keep the receipt and review any item-specific wording for a more specific exception, but do not assume unopened packaging overrides the final-sale rule.
“The online replacement is out of stock. Can Spirit exchange it directly?”
The online policy describes a return-for-refund followed by a new order, not a direct exchange. If the replacement is unavailable, you can still return the original for an eligible refund, subject to the deadline, condition and exclusion rules.
