Spellogger is a planned 2026 single-player Steam life-sim RPG from BASTI GAMES that combines Stardew Valley-style daily work with Skyrim-like first-person exploration, quests and fantasy progression. You play a “Wizard Lumberjack,” restoring a home, building workbenches, growing food, fishing, gathering resources and helping villagers while developing magical and lumberjack skills.
The full game is not released yet, but a free demo launched on Steam on June 17, 2026. The developer says the demo covers about half of the world, with some content, levels and progression limited compared with the finished game.

What Spellogger actually is
Steam describes Spellogger as “The first ever life-sim RPG where you play as a Wizard Lumberjack!” That premise explains its central loop: ordinary homestead and survival chores are performed alongside magical axe work, exploration and character advancement.

How the Stardew Valley influence appears
A recurring homestead routine
The life-sim side centers on restoring a run-down home and constructing workbenches. Players can plant crops, maintain a seasonal garden, fish for food and trade goods, gather materials and craft useful items. Food, potions and sleep support the character’s ongoing survival and improvement.
Seasonal and practical progression
Rather than treating the settlement as a backdrop, Spellogger makes everyday tasks part of progression. Growing, cooking-related survival, fishing and resource collection provide reasons to return home after exploring, while new workbenches and crafted equipment expand what the character can do.
How the Skyrim influence appears
First-person open-world exploration
Spellogger presents a dense fantasy world to explore from a first-person perspective. Secrets and resource locations reward leaving the immediate homestead, and the world is structured for discovery rather than only menu-based management.

Questlines with motivated NPCs
Villagers are involved in multi-stage questlines. Steam’s description emphasizes NPCs with their own motivations and storylines, so helping a character is intended to unfold across multiple objectives instead of ending with a single delivery task.
Skills, magic and adventure progression
Character growth uses skill trees. The demo and full-game descriptions name schools including Lumbermancy, Sawmanism, Barkane Magic and Axeletics, reflecting the game’s blend of forestry, combat-style axe use and spellcasting.
What you do in Spellogger
- Explore the world. Travel through the open environment, look for secrets and collect natural resources.
- Work as a wizard lumberjack. Cut trees with an axe and magic, turning the game’s signature occupation into both a resource activity and a progression path.
- Rebuild your base. Restore the run-down home and construct workbenches that support crafting and other activities.
- Manage food and recovery. Grow seasonal crops, fish, prepare survival-related food and potions, then use sleep to recover and improve your character.
- Follow villagers’ stories. Take on questlines that develop through multiple stages and reveal NPC motivations.
- Invest in skill trees. Choose upgrades across the named lumberjack and magic schools as your abilities expand.
Stardew Valley versus Skyrim: what the comparison means
| Comparison area | Stardew Valley-style element | Skyrim-style element | Spellogger’s version |
|---|---|---|---|
| Daily life | Farming, fishing, crafting and home improvement | Less central to the traditional adventure loop | Homestead restoration, seasonal gardening, workbenches, fishing and survival routines |
| World design | A compact world organized around repeatable activities | First-person fantasy exploration with hidden locations | A dense open world containing secrets and gatherable resources |
| Progression | Long-term improvement through activities and upgrades | Skills, gear and quest-driven character growth | Skill trees including Lumbermancy, Sawmanism, Barkane Magic and Axeletics |
| Story | Community relationships and personal stories | Multi-stage quests and motivated NPCs | Villager questlines with individual motivations and story arcs |
| Signature activity | Farming and making the homestead productive | Exploration and fantasy adventuring | Chopping trees with an axe and magic while developing as a wizard lumberjack |
The useful takeaway is that Spellogger is blending systems, not promising two separate games inside one package. Its appeal depends on whether you enjoy switching between a hands-on home routine and open-ended fantasy exploration.

Steam says it includes approximately half of the world. What is still unknown
The full game’s final release date, pricing, complete content scope and finished progression balance are not established by the available listing information. Who should watch Spellogger?
- Life-sim players who want farming, fishing, crafting and home improvement without giving up exploration.
- Open-world RPG players who like first-person discovery and questlines but want a calmer daily routine between adventures.
- Players who enjoy skill experimentation and want to combine practical axe work with named magical schools.
- Anyone seeking a finished game today should wait for the full release, because only the limited demo is currently available.
