SpaceX has already completed the stock split that this hypothetical topic asks about. The company effected a five-for-one forward split of its Class A, Class B, and Class C common shares in May 2026, according to its SEC-filed second-quarter report. Its IPO followed in June 2026, and Class A shares began trading as SPCX on Nasdaq Global Select Market and Nasdaq Texas on June 12.
Will SpaceX do a stock split?
It already did. SpaceX’s second-quarter 2026 report says the company effected a five-for-one forward split in May 2026 covering its authorized, issued, and outstanding Class A, Class B, and Class C common stock. Read SpaceX’s SEC-filed Q2 2026 report.
What does a 5-for-1 SpaceX stock split mean?
For each affected common share, the split created five shares of the same class. If an investor held one share before the split, they held five afterward; if they held 20, they held 100. The split changes the number of shares and the per-share figures, not the holder’s proportional ownership of the company by itself.

SpaceX says the conversion rate for preferred stock was adjusted proportionately. The filing also retrospectively adjusted historical per-share data, so figures reported for earlier periods may be presented on the post-split basis.

A split is a change in how ownership is divided into shares, not a creation of additional economic value. A fivefold share count does not, by itself, make a shareholder’s stake five times more valuable or make the business more valuable. The filing describes the split mechanics but does not characterize a resulting market-value effect.

SpaceX completed its IPO in June 2026. The company’s pricing release set the IPO offer price at $135 per share; that is a historical offering price, not a current trading quote. See SpaceX’s June 11 IPO pricing release.
