SOXL rose from $120.29 to an intraday high of $126.45 on October 13, 2026, a 5.12% gain after a TradePulse Power Inflow alert at 11:03 a.m. EST. The alert indicated increased buying activity, but the move was an intraday association—not proof that the signal predicts future returns. SOXL targets three times the NYSE Semiconductor Index’s daily return, so its results can diverge sharply from a simple three-times calculation over longer periods.

Why SOXL rose 5.12% on October 13

A TradePulse Power Inflow alert fired at 11:03 a.m. EST while the Direxion Daily Semiconductor Bull 3X ETF (SOXL) traded at $120.29. Benzinga reported that the ETF later reached $126.45 by 2:30 p.m. EST.

Event Time (EST) SOXL price Change from alert
Power Inflow alert 11:03 a.m. $120.29 Trigger price
Reported intraday high 2:30 p.m. $126.45 +$6.16, or 5.12%

The report characterized the alert as a shift toward buying by both retail and institutional participants, based on order-flow data. Its wording describes a Power Inflow signal as “intended to be a bullish indication of institutional and retail interest,” highlighting where traders may be entering the market.

What the alert does—and does not—show

Order-flow information can show where buying and selling appeared concentrated at that moment. It cannot establish that the alert caused the price increase or that SOXL will continue rising. The reported 5.12% move is a historical intraday result. The report also states that the information is for informational purposes, that accuracy is not guaranteed and that past performance does not indicate future results.

What SOXL is designed to do

SOXL is a leveraged ETF from Direxion. Its benchmark is the NYSE Semiconductor Index, and its stated objective is 300% of the benchmark’s return for a single day, before fees and expenses. The fund resets its exposure daily. Direxion warns that investors should not expect SOXL to deliver three times the benchmark’s cumulative return for periods longer than one day.

Representative index exposure

The issuer’s dated snapshot uses index data as of June 30, 2026. The percentages below are benchmark weights in that snapshot, not permanent SOXL allocations; they can change as the index is rebalanced and market values move.

Company Index weight (June 30, 2026)
Micron Technology 8.55%
Advanced Micro Devices 8.10%
Nvidia 6.82%
Intel 6.34%
Broadcom 6.08%
Applied Materials 5.78%
KLA 5.65%
Marvell Technology 5.23%
Lam Research 4.90%
Taiwan Semiconductor 4.27%

Why a daily 3X target is not a long-term 3X promise

SOXL’s target applies separately to each trading day. At the next session, the fund’s exposure is reset from that new starting value. The sequence of daily gains and losses therefore matters as much as the index’s overall change.

Compounding can help or hurt

When the index rises in a relatively steady trend, daily leverage can produce a result greater than or less than three times the index’s multi-day move, depending on the path. In a choppy market, alternating gains and losses can erode the ETF’s value even if the index finishes near where it started. Fees, financing and derivatives-related costs also affect returns.

There is no issuer-approved maximum holding period

An investor can hold SOXL beyond one session, but doing so accepts path-dependent results rather than a guaranteed three-times multiple. Direxion presents the product as a daily trading instrument and says leveraged ETFs are riskier than unleveraged alternatives. Anyone holding overnight or longer must evaluate the position using its actual value, volatility and exposure after each reset—not the original entry price alone.

Risks of trading SOXL after a bullish signal

  • Leverage: A move against the semiconductor index is magnified, potentially producing rapid losses.
  • Compounding and volatility: Daily resets can make longer-term performance diverge materially from three times the index’s cumulative return.
  • Derivatives exposure: The fund uses derivatives to pursue its objective, adding structural and counterparty risks beyond simply owning chip stocks.
  • Sector concentration: SOXL is concentrated in semiconductors and related equipment, so industry-specific events can affect the entire position.
  • Principal loss: The investment can lose a substantial portion of its value, and it is not suitable for every investor.
  • Signal risk: A single order-flow alert may be late, temporary or overwhelmed by news, earnings, macroeconomic data or broader market selling.

A practical checklist before acting on the alert

  1. Confirm the product: Verify that the ticker is SOXL and that you understand its 300% daily objective rather than a long-term leverage promise.
  2. Check the live quote: Compare the current price with the reported $120.29 trigger and $126.45 intraday high; do not assume either level is still available.
  3. Measure the underlying market: Review the NYSE Semiconductor Index and major semiconductor news instead of relying on the alert alone.
  4. Set a loss limit before entering: Decide the dollar amount and price level at which the trade will be closed. Leverage can make a stop distance meaningful in a short time.
  5. Choose a holding horizon: If the plan extends beyond one day, model how daily resets and volatility could change the outcome and monitor the position regularly.
  6. Size conservatively: Treat SOXL as a high-volatility satellite position, not as a substitute for a diversified portfolio or an unleveraged semiconductor fund.
  7. Review your broker’s requirements: Leveraged ETFs may have suitability disclosures, margin rules, trading restrictions or elevated costs that vary by account and jurisdiction.

What the 5.12% move means for readers

The October 13 price action shows that SOXL can move substantially during a single session after a burst of buying interest. It does not validate the Power Inflow alert as a forecasting system, nor does it change SOXL’s daily-reset design. The relevant decision is whether the potential reward justifies leveraged, concentrated and path-dependent risk for the specific trade horizon and position size.
