The Soundcore Nebula P1’s detachable wireless speakers can be placed apart from the projector, creating a wider stereo soundstage than you get when sound comes from a single compact unit. TechRadar and What Hi-Fi? both praised aspects of its sound, though the effect depends on speaker placement and the room. It is a portable projector whose standout feature is audio design—not a guarantee of a more immersive experience in every setup.
Why the detachable speakers change the experience
Most portable projectors keep their speakers together in the projector body. The Nebula P1’s wireless speakers can be detached and positioned on either side of the viewing area, giving sound more room to spread across the scene. That separation can make a soundtrack feel wider and help audio seem less confined to the projector itself.

TechRadar described the P1’s soundstage as wide, while What Hi-Fi? found the sound clean and engaging, with a broad soundfield. These are reviewers’ listening impressions, not a measured guarantee: room layout, listening position and where you place the speakers all matter. The speakers are rated at 10W of amplification each, according to What Hi-Fi?.
Placement matters
For the stereo effect, place the speakers apart and roughly to the left and right of the screen, where they can be heard from your usual seat. If they sit close together, are blocked by furniture or end up far from the viewing area, the sound may not feel as wide. The P1’s design gives you flexibility, but the room still determines how well that flexibility works.

What the speakers cannot do
A wider soundstage is not the same as deep bass or a full home-cinema system. TechRadar noted limited bass depth and observed that existing stereo-capable Bluetooth speakers may be competitive. The P1’s appeal is the convenience of speakers designed to detach from the projector, rather than a claim that they outperform every separate audio setup.
Picture quality is the main trade-off
TechRadar lists the P1’s resolution as 1080p and its brightness as 650 lumens. The lumen figure is the product specification reported by that publication, not an independent brightness measurement. TechRadar recommends dim or dark viewing for the best experience; What Hi-Fi? also found brightness underwhelming in its testing and reported image limitations.
That makes the P1 better suited to evening viewing or a room where you can control ambient light than to a bright living room. TechRadar also cautions that very large projected images can make pixel structure more apparent. Consider your intended image size and room brightness together: a larger picture is not automatically a better one if it looks less crisp or dimmer in your conditions.

Focus and keystone corrections can help align the image, but TechRadar warns that digital corrections can crop the projection. If possible, position and aim the projector to get the image close to square before relying on correction.
Built for portable viewing, with a practical caveat
TechRadar reports that the P1 has an integrated gimbal stand, USB-C power, a carrying strap and detachable speakers. Those features suit a setup that moves between rooms or travels, rather than a projector that stays permanently installed. The review reports IP33 protection for the projector and IP54 protection for the speakers; do not treat those ratings as protection for the power source or assume the whole setup is weatherproof.
In its testing, TechRadar found that the speakers could slowly drain while attached and that the charging contacts did not always recharge one speaker reliably. That is a reported review observation, not proof that every unit will have the same issue. Check the charge state before taking the projector somewhere you expect to use it away from power.

Who should consider the Nebula P1?
- A good fit: viewers who want a portable projector with a more flexible stereo presentation, can watch in a dim room and value the ability to position speakers apart.
- Think twice: viewers who need a bright image in ambient light, want strong bass from the built-in audio, or plan to project a very large image and are sensitive to visible pixel structure.
- Compare alternatives: TechRadar discusses the JMGO N1S as an option to consider when picture performance matters more. What Hi-Fi? compared the P1’s image performance with the Xgimi MoGo 4 and reported different strengths by picture mode. These are reviewer comparisons, not a comprehensive current-market ranking.
Price and model details to verify
TechRadar reported launch prices of $799, £699 and AU$1,299 when the P1 launched in late 2025, and noted that discounts followed. Those are historical launch figures, not verified current prices. Check the price, stock and streaming-service support in your region before buying, since each can change.
Make sure a listing is for the Nebula P1 specifically. It is distinct from Soundcore’s Mars 3 Air, and specifications for that other projector should not be treated as P1 specifications.
