Choose the soundcore AeroClip if you want a flexible open-ring clip, the higher published water-resistance rating, and the longer stated battery life. Choose the Bose Ultra Open Earbuds if you prefer a cuff-like Flex Grip and Bose’s OpenAudio and Immersive Audio modes. Both keep the ear canal open, support multipoint connections, and are intended for situations where you want music while remaining aware of nearby sounds.

This is a specification-and-design comparison, not a controlled listening or comfort test. The quoted battery figures, durability claims, and audio descriptions come from the manufacturers, and comfort depends heavily on the shape of your ears.

How the two clip-on designs attach

soundcore AeroClip: an open ring that flexes around the ear

AeroClip uses a flexible open ring that clips around the outer ear instead of inserting into the canal. soundcore describes a 0.5 mm memory-titanium wire covered with soft TPU. The intended result is distributed pressure rather than a sealed in-ear fit. The company says the wire retained its shape after 20,000 bends in its laboratory testing. That is a manufacturer durability claim, not an independent test, and it does not predict how every user’s ear or handling will affect long-term wear.

  • Flexible, Secure Fit: soundcore AeroClip clip-on earbuds boast an adaptive open-ring design that endures 20,000 bends. Feather-light and flexible, they stay secure for all-day wear.
  • Hi-Res Audio, Rich Bass: Enjoy Hi-Res sound and rich bass with impressive sound quality. Our advanced virtual bass technology enriches the lows, complemented by a 12mm titanium-coated driver for clear listening. Note: Update the soundcore app to the latest version for the best listening experience.
  • Minimal Leakage, Stay Private: Directional acoustic tech delivers sound precisely toward your ear—keeping your audio private while minimizing sound leakage.
  • AI-Boosted Clear Calls: With 4 mics and AI-boosted call technology, your voice stays clear as background noise fades—ensuring reliable clarity even on a busy street.

soundcore also says the AeroClip’s acoustic chamber is 37% smaller than that of its previous open-ear clip-on earbuds. That comparison is to soundcore’s own earlier model, not to the Bose product, so it should not be read as evidence that AeroClip is smaller or more comfortable than Ultra Open.

Bose Ultra Open: a cuff-like Flex Grip

Bose uses a cuff-like Flex Grip that wraps around the outside of the ear. Bose describes the earbuds as light and open, with the speaker positioned near—not inside—the canal. The shape is fundamentally different from AeroClip’s ring: instead of a springy loop, it behaves more like an ear cuff that holds the acoustic module beside the ear.

That difference matters more than a small specification gap. Some ears may prefer the distributed contact of a ring; others may find a cuff easier to position. No controlled comparative fitting study establishes that either stays in place better or feels more comfortable for everyone. If possible, buy from a retailer with a usable return period and test the shape with your normal glasses, hair, helmet, or hat before committing.

What “open ear” means in daily use

Neither product seals the ear canal. You can generally hear conversations, traffic, announcements, and other ambient sounds while audio is playing. That makes these designs useful for awareness-oriented listening, but it also means they are not substitutes for sealed earbuds when you need strong isolation. Neither should be treated as hearing protection.

Sound, spatial modes, and calls

AeroClip’s driver and wireless-audio claims

soundcore specifies a 12 mm customized titanium-coated driver, virtual-bass processing, and Hi-Res wireless audio. The company lists LDAC support, with availability limited to Android devices. On a compatible Android phone, LDAC can be selected when the phone and listening conditions support it; an iPhone will not provide that codec option.

AeroClip also has four microphones with AI noise reduction. Those specifications describe the hardware and processing approach, not a measured call-quality ranking. Open microphones can be affected by wind, traffic, and the way the clip sits on your ear, so do not assume the microphone system will outperform a sealed headset in every environment.

Bose OpenAudio and Immersive Audio

Bose’s main differentiator is its OpenAudio platform, with an Immersive Audio mode that Bose describes as spatialized sound. The effect is designed to make compatible content seem positioned around you rather than simply coming from two small drivers beside the ears. Bose also offers an Auto Volume option; its product information warns that using Immersive Audio or Auto Volume reduces the stated listening time to up to four hours.

These are processing modes, not evidence that Bose will sound better for every listener. Perceived bass, clarity, and leakage depend on ear shape, placement, volume, and the recording. The manufacturer pages do not provide an independent frequency-response, loudness, or sound-leakage comparison.

Awareness and sound privacy

Because both products leave the canal open, people nearby may hear some of your audio, especially at high volume or in a quiet room. Neither manufacturer’s specifications establish a controlled leakage level. If privacy is important in an office, library, or shared vehicle, test the fit and volume in that environment rather than relying on the product name or an open-ear marketing description.

Bose’s comparison information does not list active noise cancellation. That is consistent with an open-ear design, but it means Ultra Open is not intended to create the quiet bubble provided by sealed noise-cancelling earbuds. AeroClip’s open construction has the same fundamental limitation.

Battery life: close estimates measured differently

Product Earbud estimate Case estimate Important qualification
soundcore AeroClip Up to 8 hours Up to 32 hours total soundcore says its test used continuous playback at 50% volume; actual time varies
Bose Ultra Open Up to 7 hours Not stated in the cited product information Up to 4 hours when Immersive Audio or Auto Volume is enabled

AeroClip has the higher single-charge number on paper, but these are not results from a shared laboratory protocol. soundcore supplies a 50%-volume condition; Bose presents an “up to” figure and separately identifies the shorter estimate for two processing features. Codec choice, volume, microphone use, wireless conditions, and software settings can all change runtime.

For a normal workday, either estimate may be sufficient if you can recharge during breaks. If you regularly spend long periods away from a case or charger, AeroClip’s stated eight hours gives it the numerical advantage. If you plan to use Bose Immersive Audio continuously, budget around the manufacturer’s four-hour estimate instead of the headline seven-hour figure.

Water resistance and durability

AeroClip’s IP55 listing

The current US AeroClip page lists IP55. In the IP code, the first “5” indicates protection against dust at the stated level, while the second “5” indicates protection against water jets under the applicable test conditions. It is a rating for the earbuds as specified by the product listing, not a promise that they can be submerged or worn while swimming.

Bose’s separate earbud and case ratings

Bose lists IPX4 for the Ultra Open earbuds. The “X” means no dust-protection rating is specified in that code. A Bose user-guide result identifies IPX1 for the charging case, which is a lower water-protection level than the earbuds. Keep the case dry even if the earbuds have been exposed to light rain or sweat.

Neither product should be charged while wet. Wipe the earbuds and contacts, allow them to dry fully, and then place them in the case. The ratings are useful for comparing resistance to incidental moisture, but they do not establish safe use in a shower, pool, or open-water activity.

Multipoint, controls, and everyday operation

Switching between devices

Both models support multipoint. soundcore lists multipoint connection, while Bose explicitly says two Bluetooth source devices can be connected at the same time. That can let you keep a computer and phone connected, although the exact switching behavior depends on the operating systems and the app or firmware version.

Multipoint does not mean two people can use one pair independently at full quality. It is a connection-management feature: the earbuds maintain links to two sources and switch attention when one source starts or receives an event.

Tap controls versus physical buttons

AeroClip uses tap controls. Taps can be convenient when the earbud is positioned correctly, but accidental touches from hair, glasses, or adjusting the ring are possible with any touch interface. Bose uses simple physical buttons. A button gives tactile confirmation and can be easier to operate with gloves or when you cannot see the control, although pressing it may move the cuff slightly on some ears.

Price and availability: verify before buying

On October 13, 2026, the US soundcore page displayed AeroClip at $169.99. The US Bose page displayed a $199 promotional price against a $299 original price, but the page stated that the promotion ended October 11, 2026. That offer had already expired by the date of the product-price check, so $199 should not be treated as a current Bose price.

These figures are region- and date-specific. Taxes, shipping, color or bundle variations, retailer pricing, and later promotions can change the checkout total. Check the official US product pages or your local retailer immediately before purchase, and confirm that the model, charging case, and return terms match the listing.

Which one should you choose?

Choose soundcore AeroClip when these priorities match

  • You want a flexible open-ring clip rather than a cuff-like outer-ear shape.
  • The current IP55 listing is important for your expected exposure to dust and water jets.
  • You value the longer published single-charge estimate: up to eight hours under soundcore’s 50%-volume test condition.
  • You use Android and may benefit from the listed LDAC option.
  • You prefer tap controls and a 12 mm driver with virtual-bass processing.

Choose Bose Ultra Open when these priorities match

  • The Flex Grip’s cuff-like shape appears more natural for your ear.
  • You specifically want Bose OpenAudio or the Immersive Audio spatialized mode.
  • You prefer physical buttons over touch taps.
  • You need multipoint with two source devices and want that behavior explicitly documented by the manufacturer.
  • You are comfortable managing the shorter stated runtime when Immersive Audio or Auto Volume is enabled.

Consider neither if you need isolation

Look beyond both models if your main requirement is blocking engine noise, creating a quiet listening environment, or preventing others from hearing your audio. Open-ear clip-ons deliberately leave the canal open, and neither product provides a sealed fit or a published active-noise-cancellation specification.

A practical fit-and-purchase checklist

  1. Identify your wearing constraints. Note whether glasses, hearing aids, helmets, masks, long hair, or workplace headgear occupy the same area around your ear.
  2. Pick the geometry first. Compare a flexible ring around the ear with a cuff-like Flex Grip; battery and codec differences cannot compensate for a shape that causes pressure.
  3. Check your phone. LDAC on AeroClip is an Android-only option according to soundcore. Confirm that your phone supports the codec before paying for that feature.
  4. Decide how you will use spatial processing. Bose’s Immersive Audio and Auto Volume have a stated four-hour maximum, so include that shorter runtime in your planning.
  5. Set realistic moisture expectations. Compare IP55 with IPX4 earbuds and the Bose case’s IPX1 guide rating, but keep either charging case away from water.
  6. Use the return window. Wear the earbuds for a normal walk, desk session, and phone call. Check pressure, movement, microphone performance, and whether nearby people can hear your chosen volume.
  7. Recheck the price at checkout. The Bose promotional price cited above expired October 11, 2026; do not assume an old banner or search result is still valid.

What the published specifications cannot answer

  • They do not establish which design is more comfortable for your ear shape.
  • They do not provide a controlled head-to-head sound, microphone, or leakage measurement.
  • They do not show how either clip behaves during running, vigorous movement, or contact with eyewear.
  • They do not guarantee the quoted maximum battery life in your codec, volume, temperature, or call pattern.
  • They do not make either product waterproof or suitable for swimming.

The most defensible decision is therefore conditional: AeroClip is the specification-led choice for the flexible ring, IP55 listing, and longer stated runtime; Ultra Open is the feature-led choice for the cuff-like Flex Grip, OpenAudio, Immersive Audio, and physical buttons. A returnable purchase is the safest way to resolve the fit question that product pages cannot test for you.
