Choose by platform and wireless behavior before comparing anything else. Sony’s INZONE H9 II is the clearest fit for PC and PlayStation 5 players who want active noise cancellation (ANC), while its supplied 2.4GHz USB-C dongle does not work with Xbox consoles. SteelSeries’ Arctis Nova 5 emphasizes a claimed 60-hour battery and broad USB-C-dongle compatibility; Nova 7 adds simultaneous 2.4GHz game audio and Bluetooth. If you use Xbox, check the exact Nova suffix and Xbox edition before buying. Neither manufacturer’s product page is a controlled head-to-head test, so the official material supports a compatibility and feature decision—not a definitive sound, microphone, comfort or ANC-quality winner.

The quick answer

  • PC or PS5 with ANC: Start with the Sony INZONE H9 II. It combines a 2.4GHz USB-C connection, Bluetooth including LE Audio, 3.5mm wired use and ANC. Sony lists up to 30 hours of battery life.
  • Xbox: Do not assume an INZONE USB dongle will work. Sony explicitly says, “The 2.4GHz dongle does not work with Xbox consoles.” Look at a SteelSeries Nova model carrying the correct Xbox designation instead, and verify that edition’s features.
  • Longest stated wireless runtime: The Arctis Nova 5 is listed at up to 60 hours. That is a SteelSeries specification, not an independently measured result.
  • Game audio and phone audio at the same time: Nova 7 is described as supporting simultaneous 2.4GHz and Bluetooth. Sony describes the H9 II as connecting to a PC or PS5 through its dongle while maintaining a Bluetooth phone connection.
  • Wireless is unnecessary: Sony’s H6 Air is an open-back wired model and the H3 is wired. They avoid battery charging but are different use cases from Nova 5, Nova 7 and the wireless INZONE models.

“Arctis Nova” and “INZONE” are families, not single specifications. The model number, platform suffix and connection method determine whether a headset fits your console and your daily routine.

Check your platform and connection first

PC and PlayStation 5

The H9 II is designed around a supplied 2.4GHz USB-C dongle for PC and PS5. Sony also lists Bluetooth (Classic and LE Audio) and a 3.5mm wired connection. This makes it a strong option when you want low-latency game audio from the dongle, a phone connection for calls or media, and ANC in either wired or wireless use.

SteelSeries’ Nova 7 page reached for this comparison identifies a Nova 7P page and describes a USB-C dongle for PS4, PS5, PC, Switch or tablet. Nova 5’s page lists a USB-C dongle for PC, PlayStation, Switch, Chromebook, Meta Quest, handhelds and compatible USB-C phones or tablets. Confirm the exact 7, 7P, 7X or Nova 5 edition in the store listing; a family name alone is not enough.

Xbox

Sony’s H9 II FAQ is unambiguous: its 2.4GHz dongle does not work with Xbox consoles. That limitation is more important than the H9 II’s ANC or battery figure if Xbox is your primary system. Do not treat a USB-C plug as proof of Xbox compatibility.

SteelSeries sells platform-specific Nova variants. The Nova Pro page captured for this guide redirected to an Xbox-specific page, while the Nova 7 material described a Nova 7P page. Before buying, match the suffix to your console and check whether the listing includes the required Xbox or PlayStation connection mode.

Switch, tablets and phones

Nova 5’s listed dongle compatibility covers Switch, Chromebook, Meta Quest, handhelds and compatible USB-C phones or tablets. Nova 7’s page lists PS4, PS5, PC, Switch and tablet support for its USB-C dongle. Device-level features can differ: SteelSeries notes platform limitations for functions such as ChatMix, so read the edition’s compatibility notes rather than assuming every feature works everywhere.

The H9 II can use Bluetooth with a phone and 2.4GHz with a PC or PS5 at the same time. Its 3.5mm input also gives you a wired fallback. Sony’s family comparison lists USB-A 2.4GHz for the original H9 and H5, so check the available port or adapter on your device before choosing those models.

Model-by-model specifications

Model Wireless and wired connections Manufacturer battery claim Microphone listed by the manufacturer
Sony INZONE H9 II (WH-G910NB) 2.4GHz USB-C, Bluetooth Classic and LE Audio, 3.5mm wired Up to 30 hours; actual performance varies with settings, environment and use Detachable unidirectional cardioid microphone
Sony INZONE H9 2.4GHz USB-A and Bluetooth Classic 5.0 Up to 32 hours with noise cancelling off Bidirectional microphone
Sony INZONE H5 2.4GHz USB-A wireless Up to 28 hours Bidirectional microphone
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 5 Wireless USB-C wireless dongle and Bluetooth 5.3; switches between 2.4GHz and Bluetooth Up to 60 hours Retractable microphone
SteelSeries Arctis Nova 7 USB-C 2.4GHz dongle and Bluetooth; simultaneous wireless connections are described on the Nova 7 page Up to 38 hours Use the microphone and software details for the exact Nova 7 edition

The battery figures above are vendor claims gathered from Sony and SteelSeries pages accessed in 2026. They were not measured under one common volume, codec, lighting, ANC or wireless-use setting, so they are not an apples-to-apples endurance test.

Sony INZONE options

INZONE H9 II: premium PC/PS5 wireless ANC

The H9 II is the most clearly defined Sony choice for a PC or PS5 player who wants wireless ANC. Sony identifies the model as WH-G910NB and lists 2.4GHz USB-C, Bluetooth with LE Audio, and 3.5mm wired operation. ANC works in wired and wireless modes. The headset can maintain the dongle connection to a computer or PS5 while also connecting to a phone over Bluetooth, which is useful for calls or notifications without abandoning game audio.

Sony lists the H9 II at 260g without its microphone and quotes up to 30 hours of battery life. The number is accompanied by a warning that real performance changes with settings, environment and use. The detachable microphone is described as unidirectional and cardioid. Those designations describe the microphone type; they do not establish that it sounds better than a Nova microphone.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The decisive limitation is console support: Sony’s own FAQ says the supplied 2.4GHz dongle does not work with Xbox consoles. If Xbox is part of your setup, treat that as a hard compatibility constraint rather than a minor caveat.

INZONE H9: earlier ANC model

The original H9 remains a relevant comparison when you find it at a different regional price or already own one. Sony lists ANC, 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth Classic 5.0 and a flip-up microphone mute. Its maximum battery figure is up to 32 hours with noise cancelling turned off; that condition matters when comparing it with the H9 II’s up-to-30-hour claim.

Sony’s family comparison lists the H9 at 330g, compared with 260g for the H9 II without its microphone. Weight alone does not establish comfort, and the manufacturer pages do not provide an independent comfort comparison. The H9 uses a bidirectional microphone according to Sony’s comparison.

INZONE H5: lower-tier wireless option

Sony lists the H5 at up to 28 hours and shows a 2.4GHz USB-A connection in the family comparison. Its listed microphone is bidirectional. The H5 is therefore a wireless INZONE alternative, but the supplied evidence does not establish the same ANC feature set as the H9 models. Check the current regional specification page if ANC is a deciding requirement.

INZONE H6 Air and H3: wired alternatives

The H6 Air is listed as an open-back wired headset, while the H3 is wired. Neither is a direct wireless equivalent to Nova 5, Nova 7 or the H9 models. Their appeal is avoiding battery management and wireless compatibility questions; the trade-off is that you need a suitable wired connection and do not get the wireless phone-and-game behavior described for the H9 II or Nova 7.

SteelSeries Arctis Nova options

Arctis Nova 5 Wireless: battery and platform breadth

SteelSeries labels the Nova 5 feature “60-Hour Battery Life.” The product page lists a USB-C wireless dongle for PC, PlayStation, Switch, Chromebook, Meta Quest, handhelds and compatible USB-C phones or tablets, plus Bluetooth 5.3. Its operating model is switching between 2.4GHz and Bluetooth, not the simultaneous game-and-phone audio described for Nova 7.

The Nova 5 page also describes an app with more than 100 game presets and a retractable microphone. Treat those as model-specific software and hardware claims. SteelSeries notes that platform features are not identical: ChatMix requires PC support and is not available on PlayStation according to the compatibility details. If you play on multiple systems, list the features you actually use—such as ChatMix, presets or mobile Bluetooth—then verify each against the intended platform.

Arctis Nova 7: simultaneous wireless audio

SteelSeries describes Nova 7 as supporting simultaneous 2.4GHz and Bluetooth, with a USB-C dongle for PS4, PS5, PC, Switch or tablet. That arrangement suits someone who wants game audio while hearing a phone call or other Bluetooth source. The page lists up to 38 hours of battery life.

The captured page identifies a Nova 7P page, so do not transfer every microphone, software or compatibility statement to Nova 7, Nova 7P or Nova 7X without checking the exact listing. The suffix can determine the console connection and available controls.

Arctis Nova Pro Wireless: verify the edition before relying on specifications

The SteelSeries Nova Pro Wireless URL available for this comparison redirected to an “Arctis Nova Pro for Xbox” page. The captured page text did not expose complete specifications. Consequently, this guide does not assign Nova Pro a battery figure, ANC claim, base-station behavior or audio-quality ranking. If you are considering Nova Pro, open the exact Xbox or PlayStation edition and confirm its connections and included hardware before purchasing.

Battery life: what the numbers do—and do not—tell you

Headset Stated maximum Condition or qualification
INZONE H9 II Up to 30 hours Sony says actual performance varies with settings, environment and use
INZONE H9 Up to 32 hours Noise cancelling off
INZONE H5 Up to 28 hours Sony family-comparison figure
Arctis Nova 7 Up to 38 hours SteelSeries product-page claim
Arctis Nova 5 Up to 60 hours SteelSeries product-page claim; the page labels the feature “60-Hour Battery Life”

These values should guide expectations, not settle performance. ANC use, Bluetooth activity, microphone use, volume, wireless mode and other settings can change runtime. Sony’s original H9 page also lists a 10-minute quick charge for one hour of play, a useful recovery detail when you forget to charge; the supplied Nova material does not provide a directly comparable quick-charge figure.

Choose Nova 5 for the largest stated endurance margin. Choose H9 II or Nova 7 when connection behavior and platform fit matter more than the headline maximum. Do not infer that a 60-hour claim means 60 hours under the same conditions as a 30- or 38-hour claim.

ANC, sound, microphones and comfort: what is established

ANC

Sony explicitly describes active noise cancellation for the H9 II and H9. The reviewed Nova 5 and Nova 7 pages focus on wireless connectivity, presets and battery and do not establish ANC for those models. That makes Sony the better-documented choice when ANC is a requirement, but the official pages do not prove which headset cancels more noise in practice.

Sound and spatial audio

Sony describes its INZONE range and Sony/PC spatial-audio software. SteelSeries describes model-specific companion-app presets and PC software. Those features indicate configuration options, not a controlled sound-quality result. The available manufacturer material does not justify saying that INZONE sounds better than Arctis Nova, or the reverse.

Microphones

Sony lists a detachable unidirectional cardioid microphone on H9 II and bidirectional microphones on H9, H5 and H3. SteelSeries lists a retractable microphone for Nova 5; the Nova 7 page’s microphone details should be applied to the exact edition shown there. Microphone type and placement are useful specifications, but they do not establish call quality or background-noise rejection without independent testing.

Comfort and weight

Sony provides family-comparison weights of 260g for H9 II without its microphone and 330g for H9. No equivalent cross-brand comfort test is supplied here. Head shape, clamp, glasses, pad seal and session length can change the experience, so avoid choosing solely from a weight number or a manufacturer description.

Choose by the way you use a headset

You play mainly on PC and PS5 in a noisy room

Put H9 II at the top of the shortlist because Sony documents ANC, PC/PS5 2.4GHz USB-C, Bluetooth phone connectivity and wired fallback in one model. Confirm that your PC has a suitable USB-C connection or adapter arrangement and remember that the same dongle is not an Xbox solution.

You need Xbox support

Remove H9 II’s supplied dongle from the shortlist for Xbox. Start with an Xbox-designated Nova edition, then verify whether you need simultaneous Bluetooth, ChatMix, a particular microphone control or another platform feature. A Nova 7P page is aimed at PlayStation; do not buy it for Xbox without confirming Xbox support.

You travel or hate frequent charging

Nova 5 has the longest stated runtime in the supplied specifications at up to 60 hours, along with a small USB-C dongle and Bluetooth 5.3. Its switching behavior means you should not expect the same concurrent game-and-phone audio described for Nova 7.

You mix game audio with a phone call

Compare the two simultaneous-connection descriptions carefully. H9 II is described as maintaining a PC/PS5 dongle connection and a phone Bluetooth connection. Nova 7 is described as simultaneous 2.4GHz and Bluetooth. Nova 5’s page describes switching, so it is a different workflow.

You want to avoid batteries

Consider INZONE H6 Air or H3. H6 Air is open-back and wired; H3 is wired. They are sensible when you do not need wireless mobility or ANC, but they cannot provide the wireless features that distinguish H9 II, Nova 5 and Nova 7.

You are comparing a premium model

Do not treat “Nova Pro” as a fully specified universal product. The captured page was Xbox-specific and incomplete. Verify the platform edition and the complete current specification before making a premium purchase decision.

Connection and setup checklist

  1. Write down every target device. List PC, PS5, Xbox, Switch, tablet and phone separately. A headset that works on one device through USB-C may require a different edition or connection on another.
  2. Match the dongle to the platform. Use the supplied 2.4GHz USB-C dongle for supported H9 II, Nova 5 or Nova 7 devices. For the H9 II, do not connect that dongle expecting Xbox support.
  3. Choose Bluetooth deliberately. Pair a phone over Bluetooth when you need calls or media. On H9 II and Nova 7, the official descriptions support concurrent wireless behavior; on Nova 5, expect quick switching between 2.4GHz and Bluetooth.
  4. Keep a wired fallback in mind. H9 II supports 3.5mm wired use. H6 Air and H3 are wired models rather than wireless headsets with a backup cable.
  5. Check platform features after connection. On Nova 5, SteelSeries says ChatMix requires PC support and is unavailable on PlayStation. Confirm that presets, chat controls and other software functions behave as expected on your particular console.
  6. Update only through the model’s official software or support page. Model-specific apps and firmware can expose different controls, so select the exact H9, H9 II, Nova 5, Nova 7, 7P or 7X entry instead of a generic family listing.

Common buying mistakes and fixes

Mistake: treating a family name as a complete specification

Fix: Record the full model and suffix before checkout. Nova 7, Nova 7P and Nova 7X can target different consoles, and Sony’s H9 II, H9 and H5 use different dongle connectors and battery claims.

Mistake: assuming USB-C means Xbox compatibility

Fix: Check the console statement, not the connector shape. Sony explicitly excludes Xbox for the H9 II’s 2.4GHz dongle.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Mistake: confusing simultaneous audio with quick switching

Fix: Nova 7 and H9 II have official descriptions of concurrent wireless connections. Nova 5 is described as switching between 2.4GHz and Bluetooth, which is not the same feature.

Mistake: comparing battery figures as laboratory results

Fix: Carry each condition with the number. The original H9’s 32-hour maximum assumes noise cancelling off; H9 II, Nova 7 and Nova 5 figures are vendor claims with no common independent test in the available material.

Mistake: buying for sound, mic or comfort based on manufacturer copy alone

Fix: Use the official pages for connections, features and stated specifications. Treat sound quality, microphone quality, ANC effectiveness, comfort and value as unresolved without a suitable independent comparison.

Price and availability

Sony’s US H9 II page displayed $349.99 when accessed in 2026. That is a regional, time-sensitive listing price and may change with promotions or inventory. The available SteelSeries extracts did not provide a like-for-like current price for Nova 5, Nova 7 and Nova Pro, so there is no defensible price winner here. Check the exact edition, country, included dongle and current retailer price at the time you buy.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Final decision

Select INZONE H9 II when your priority is ANC and simultaneous PC/PS5-plus-phone wireless use, and you do not need Xbox support. Select Arctis Nova 5 when the up-to-60-hour manufacturer claim and wide USB-C-dongle compatibility matter most. Select Arctis Nova 7 when you specifically want simultaneous 2.4GHz and Bluetooth and have confirmed the correct console suffix. Choose INZONE H6 Air or H3 when a wired headset is preferable. For Nova Pro, verify the exact platform edition and complete current specifications before treating it as a premium alternative.

The right choice is therefore defined by console, connection behavior and battery priorities—not by a blanket claim that one family sounds or feels better.
