Choose Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds if you want races that change routes mid-event, extensive gadget-based vehicle customization, and crossplay across supported platforms. Choose Team Sonic Racing if you want three-person cooperation to shape every race or want a confirmed story scenario in Team Adventure. The better fit depends on how you want to race—not on a verified head-to-head judgment of handling, performance, or fun.
How the racing feels different
CrossWorlds changes the course between laps
CrossWorlds uses Travel Rings to send racers to a different world for lap two. The final lap returns to the original course, but the route can change through different shortcuts, obstacles, Rings, and items. That makes route changes the game’s defining feature. SEGA describes Travel Rings as transporting players between worlds and shaking up each race in its September 25, 2025 launch announcement.
Team Sonic Racing makes cooperation part of the race
Team Sonic Racing centers on three-person teams in solo, local, and network play. Teammates can use Touch Dash to help a slowed racer regain speed, follow one another for a Line Boost, transfer items, and build a shared Ultimate Boost. Team placement matters, so helping a teammate is a core racing action rather than an optional side activity. SEGA also lists a single-race option if you want a more straightforward event.

| Parts that alter performance and appearance | Both | Team Sonic Racing lets you customize vehicles with parts; CrossWorlds emphasizes gadgets and machine customization. |
