Buy Standard if you only want the base game. Choose Digital Deluxe when you specifically want the original Season Pass and its announced crossover content, and the current bundle price is cheaper than buying the game and that downloadable content separately. The launch-era 72-hour early access and Werehog Pack were preorder offers, not permanent guarantees for a new purchase. Check the live listing on your console or PC before paying.
Standard and Digital Deluxe at a glance
Both editions contain the base game, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds. The difference is the original Season Pass included with Digital Deluxe. SEGA’s June 9, 2025 announcement describes that pass as including three named characters from Sonic Prime—Nine, Rusty and Dread—and six downloadable-content waves; Wave 1 was identified as the Minecraft Pack. The announcement also describes Standard as available in physical or digital form, while the cited Digital Deluxe descriptions present it as a digital bundle.
| Edition | Base game | Original Season Pass | Announced pass content | Format information | Release-era preorder terms |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | Included | Not included | None bundled | SEGA labels it Physical/Digital | Werehog Pack was listed as a preorder bonus; availability now must be confirmed |
| Digital Deluxe | Included | Included | Nine, Rusty and Dread from Sonic Prime, plus DLC Waves 1–6; Wave 1 was the Minecraft Pack | The cited descriptions identify a digital bundle; no physical Deluxe product is established there | SEGA listed 72 hours of early access and the Werehog Pack as launch preorder offers; verify the current listing |
These package details come from SEGA’s June 9, 2025 launch announcement and its official purchase guide. DLC contents and release dates were stated to be subject to change.
The practical distinction is therefore simple: Standard is the base-game purchase, while Digital Deluxe is the base game packaged with the first Season Pass. “Deluxe” does not, by itself, identify a different game, a separate performance mode or a guarantee of every future expansion. Read the itemized contents on the store page rather than relying on the edition name or promotional artwork.

What you get with Standard
The complete base game
Standard is the straightforward choice for a player who wants the core CrossWorlds release without paying for an add-on bundle. You receive the base game and no original Season Pass content by default. If you are undecided about the extra characters or crossover packs, Standard leaves the decision for later rather than charging for content you may never use.
That flexibility is useful for players who normally finish a racing game’s main content and move on, families buying one copy for occasional play, and anyone waiting for a discount. It also lets you evaluate how much of the game you actually play before committing to downloadable content. A later Season Pass purchase may be sensible if you discover that the announced characters or waves are exactly what you want; compare that later price with the Deluxe premium rather than assuming either option is always cheaper.
Physical or digital purchase
SEGA explicitly labels Standard as “Physical/Digital.” That makes it the edition to investigate when you want a boxed copy, subject to the platform and retailer listing you are viewing. Confirm the console, region, edition name and disc or cartridge format before checkout; a listing for one platform should not be assumed to work on another.

The edition label alone does not settle those questions: the retailer’s specific Standard listing does.
What Digital Deluxe adds
The original Season Pass
Digital Deluxe contains the base game plus the original Season Pass. In SEGA’s launch description, the pass includes Nine, Rusty and Dread from Sonic Prime and six DLC waves. The announcement names Wave 1 as the Minecraft Pack but does not provide a complete title list for Waves 2–6 in the cited material, so do not infer additional characters or crossover packs that are not stated on the current store page.
Those facts give you a useful way to judge the bundle. There are three specifically named Sonic Prime characters and six announced waves, but the value depends on whether you want those characters and the crossover material. A higher item count is not automatically better if you would only use one part of the pass. Conversely, a fan who wants the complete first wave lineup may prefer the convenience of a bundle over tracking each release individually.
A digital bundle, not an all-content edition
The cited official descriptions call Digital Deluxe a digital bundle. They do not establish a physical Deluxe release, so anyone who requires a disc or cartridge should verify that a specific platform listing exists rather than assuming one does.

Digital also means you should check the account that receives the entitlement. Confirm that the store region, platform family and account are the ones you will use to play. A code or add-on bought for one storefront should not be presumed to transfer to another platform or region.
What the pass does not establish
Buying Digital Deluxe does not automatically mean every future add-on is included. SEGA’s current game site lists a separate Season Pass Two announcement dated October 10, 2026. The original Deluxe description does not say that Season Pass Two is part of the bundle. Treat the first Season Pass and Season Pass Two as separate products unless the live store listing explicitly says otherwise. The current announcement is listed at SEGA’s official game site.
This distinction matters if you are buying for long-term completion. The first pass is the content described in the launch bundle; a later pass requires its own confirmation and, potentially, its own purchase. Do not use the word “Deluxe” as shorthand for an all-future-content edition.
How much do the editions cost?
SEGA’s Japanese launch prices
SEGA published the following suggested prices for Japan on June 9, 2025. They are launch figures, not a current worldwide price list.

Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →| Platform group in SEGA’s announcement | Standard launch price in Japan | Digital Deluxe launch price in Japan | Launch gap |
|---|---|---|---|
| PlayStation, Xbox and PC | ¥7,990 | ¥8,990 | ¥1,000 |
| Nintendo Switch | ¥6,990 | ¥7,990 | ¥1,000 |
The figures are identified by SEGA as Japanese suggested launch prices. They do not verify today’s prices in another country, a different currency, a sale, a subscription catalogue or a platform-specific storefront. Use the announcement only to understand the launch positioning: Digital Deluxe was listed ¥1,000 above Standard in Japan on each platform group.
Use the live price gap instead
For a current purchase, record the prices shown on the exact platform you will use and calculate:
Digital Deluxe price − Standard price = the current premium for the Season Pass bundle.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.

Then compare that premium with the current prices of the original Season Pass and any individual DLC you actually want. A Deluxe bundle is financially attractive only when its live premium is reasonable for the announced pass content you value. A temporary sale can reverse the result, so a launch-price comparison cannot answer the question for every buyer today.

Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Make the comparison at checkout, not from an old screenshot or a third-party listing. Include any platform discount, tax, currency conversion and membership condition shown by the store. If Standard is discounted while Deluxe is not, buying the base game now and waiting for a pass sale may be the lower-cost route. If Deluxe is temporarily discounted, the bundle may offer better value even for a buyer who would otherwise choose Standard.
Preorder bonuses and early access: read the date carefully
Werehog Pack
SEGA’s launch announcement listed the Werehog Pack as a preorder bonus for both Standard and Digital Deluxe. That wording describes a release-era offer. It does not prove that a purchase made now includes the pack. Look for an explicit “includes Werehog Pack” statement in the current platform listing, and keep a copy of the order confirmation if the bonus matters to you.
72 hours of early access
The same announcement listed 72 hours of early access for Digital Deluxe preorders. Early access was therefore tied to the launch preorder offer, not presented as a permanent feature of every Deluxe key. A current buyer should verify three separate details: whether early access is still offered, whether it applies to the platform and region selected, and the exact start date and time shown by the store.
Do not choose Digital Deluxe solely for early access unless the live listing confirms it. The Season Pass is the enduring package distinction established by the edition descriptions; preorder entitlements can expire or change.

Which edition fits your situation?
Choose Standard when you want the base game only
- You are primarily interested in the main game and do not specifically want the Season Pass characters or crossover content.
- The current Deluxe premium is larger than the value you place on the announced pass.
- You want a physical copy and the available Standard listing is the format you need.
- You prefer to decide about downloadable content later, after seeing whether you will keep playing.
- You are buying used or from a listing where preorder bonuses are not guaranteed.
Standard avoids paying for a bundle that may remain unused. It also gives you a clean baseline for comparing any later Season Pass sale. If your interest is mainly the base racing experience, there is no stated package requirement that forces you into Deluxe.

Choose Digital Deluxe when the original pass is your target
- You want Nine, Rusty and Dread from Sonic Prime.
- You want the six announced DLC waves, including the Minecraft Pack identified as Wave 1.
- The live Deluxe price is lower than, or competitive with, buying the base game and the relevant pass separately.
- You are comfortable with a digital purchase and have checked the correct account region and platform.
- The current listing confirms any preorder entitlement you consider important, such as early access or the Werehog Pack.
Digital Deluxe is not automatically the better edition because it contains more items. Its value depends on whether those specific items matter to you and how much the platform currently charges for them. A buyer who wants the full original pass can save the trouble of purchasing its components later, but that convenience is worthwhile only if the bundle’s current price is fair.
When neither edition answers your future-content question
If your main goal is Season Pass Two, do not assume the original Deluxe bundle covers it. Check the current product page for a separate Season Pass Two listing or bundle language. The cited launch announcement establishes the original pass, while SEGA’s 2026 site announcement establishes that a second pass was announced separately; it does not establish inclusion in the first Deluxe edition.
How to verify a listing before you buy
- Select the exact platform. Choose PlayStation, Xbox, PC or Nintendo Switch, then confirm the edition is sold for that platform. Do not treat a console-specific physical listing as interchangeable with another console.
- Read the edition name. The page should clearly say Standard or Digital Deluxe and identify the base game. Avoid listings that mention only a generic “bundle” without an itemized contents section.
- Check the included content. For Deluxe, look for the original Season Pass and, ideally, the named characters or DLC-wave description. If the page does not mention a pass, do not infer that one is included from artwork alone.
- Check format. Standard may be physical or digital. The cited descriptions do not verify a physical Deluxe product, so confirm whether the item is a download code, account entitlement, disc or cartridge.
- Check bonus language and dates. Look for explicit statements about the Werehog Pack and 72-hour early access. Treat old preorder wording as expired unless the current listing repeats it.
- Record the final price. Include taxes, currency, platform discounts and any recurring membership requirement shown at checkout. Compare the final Deluxe premium with the current standalone price of the original Season Pass.
- Confirm region and account rules. DLC and codes can be region-specific. Make sure the game and add-ons are being purchased for the account and storefront you will actually use.
- Save the transaction details. Keep the receipt or order page showing the edition and included items. It gives you a record if a bonus or pass entitlement is missing after purchase.
Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them
Using the Japanese launch price as today’s value
The ¥7,990/¥8,990 and ¥6,990/¥7,990 figures are historical Japanese launch suggestions from 2025. They cannot establish a current price in the United States, Europe, another region or a discounted storefront. Always use the live platform page for the final decision.
Assuming Deluxe includes every future DLC
The original Season Pass covers the content described in the launch announcement. Season Pass Two was announced separately in October 2026, and its inclusion in the original Deluxe package is not established. Look for explicit bundle language rather than relying on the word “Deluxe.”
Expecting preorder rewards in a new purchase
The Werehog Pack and early access were listed as preorder terms. A later purchase, a used physical copy or a key from a different region may not provide them. Verify the current listing and redemption instructions.
Assuming a physical Deluxe edition exists
Standard is explicitly described as Physical/Digital. The cited Deluxe descriptions identify a digital bundle but do not verify a boxed version. If physical ownership is essential, confirm the exact product before paying.
Paying for content you will not use
Three named characters and six DLC waves are meaningful only if you intend to play or collect them. If you want the base game and have no interest in the pass, Standard is the lower-risk purchase. If you want only one future add-on, compare its standalone price with the Deluxe premium instead of assuming the full bundle is a bargain.

- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
Reading artwork as a contents list
Characters or crossover logos shown in a banner are not a substitute for an itemized entitlement list. Confirm that the store page explicitly names the Season Pass or the DLC you expect. This is especially important when editions, upgrades and standalone add-ons appear beside one another in the same storefront.
A simple decision checklist
- Do I want the original Season Pass’s three Sonic Prime characters and six DLC waves?
- What is the current price difference on my exact platform?
- Is the listing digital or physical, and does that match how I want to own the game?
- Does the current page explicitly include the Werehog Pack or 72-hour early access, or am I relying on launch-era wording?
- Am I mistakenly assuming Season Pass Two is included?
- Would buying Standard now and the pass later cost less for the content I actually want?
- Does the account and region match the platform on which I will play?
- Have I checked the final checkout price rather than an advertised launch figure?
Verdict
Standard is the sensible default for most buyers who want the base game, especially when a physical copy matters or the Season Pass is not a priority. Digital Deluxe is the targeted upgrade: buy it when you want Nine, Rusty, Dread and the six announced DLC waves, and the current bundle premium compares favorably with separate purchases. Treat early access and the Werehog Pack as conditional preorder benefits, and treat Season Pass Two as separate until the current store listing says otherwise.
Frequently Asked Questions

Does Digital Deluxe include Season Pass Two?
Not according to the cited launch description. SEGA listed a separate Season Pass Two announcement dated October 10, 2026, so confirm the current store page before assuming it is bundled.
Does every Digital Deluxe purchase include 72-hour early access?
No permanent entitlement is established. SEGA listed 72 hours of early access as a launch preorder offer. A current buyer should choose it only if the live platform listing confirms the bonus.
Is the Werehog Pack included with a new purchase?
It was listed as a preorder bonus for both editions at launch. Check the current listing, because a later purchase or used copy may not include it.
Can I buy a physical Digital Deluxe copy?
The cited descriptions identify Digital Deluxe as a digital bundle and do not establish a physical Deluxe product. Standard is the edition SEGA explicitly labels Physical/Digital; verify any retailer listing carefully.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Compare the current Digital Deluxe premium with the live price of the original Season Pass and the content you actually want. Standard is better if you only need the base game; Deluxe is better when its pass content matters and the bundle price is competitive.
The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Standard is the safe base-game choice. Digital Deluxe is worth the premium only when you want the original Season Pass and its three Sonic Prime characters plus six announced DLC waves. Check the current platform price, format, region and preorder wording before you buy.
