The Sommuto is a foam mattress-in-a-box that is now marked discontinued by CHOICE and Bedbuyer. Historical reviews describe a medium-firm feel and layered foam construction, but they do not establish current availability, support terms, or performance for any mattress being resold today.
Is the Sommuto mattress discontinued?
Yes. CHOICE labels its Sommuto Mattress entry “Discontinued model,” and Bedbuyer’s historical review also identifies it as discontinued. Treat it as a past product rather than a mattress with confirmed current stock or active purchase terms. [CHOICE; Bedbuyer]
These listings do not verify whether a particular retailer or private seller has a remaining or secondhand unit. If you encounter one, confirm its age, condition, exact model, and seller’s return terms directly; the historical reviews cannot validate a specific unit.

Both sources describe a foam mattress-in-a-box, but their specifications differ. CHOICE’s listing describes a queen mattress with seven layers and a thickness of 23.5 cm. Bedbuyer’s review, last updated May 21, 2021, gives a height of 26 cm and describes a MEMair Breeze memory-foam layer, high-resilience foam, and a high-density foam support core. Bedbuyer also described the mattress as Australian-made with Australian-made foams. These are historical published details, not confirmation of current production or the specifications of an individual resale mattress.

The published height figures are not the same: CHOICE lists 23.5 cm and Bedbuyer lists 26 cm. Neither page establishes why they differ, so there is no basis to treat one figure as a correction of the other.
Is the Sommuto firm or soft?
Bedbuyer described its assessed mattress as medium-firm and rated it 7/10 on its own firmness scale. It also reported reasonable edge support and low motion transfer, noting that its team let the mattress decompress for 24 hours before assessing it. These are Bedbuyer’s historical review impressions, not a current standardized test result.

Can you still use the 100-night trial or 10-year warranty?
Do not assume so. Bedbuyer recorded a 100-night trial and a 10-year warranty in its 2021 review, and said customers were asked to use the mattress for at least 30 days during the trial. CHOICE lists a 100-day trial for its queen entry. The sources use different trial wording, and neither establishes that those terms remain available or apply to a discontinued, older-stock, or secondhand mattress. [Bedbuyer; CHOICE]

Before buying a used or remaining-stock unit, ask the seller for written confirmation of any return right and warranty coverage for that exact mattress. A historical policy page is not proof that a new owner can claim under it.

The figures below are historical, not current offers. CHOICE lists A$949 for a queen and A$799 as a sale or bargaining figure; its listing does not state a publication year. Bedbuyer’s 2021 review lists recommended retail prices by size. These figures should not be used to judge a present-day listing without confirming the unit and seller independently.

What did Sommuto claim about foam chemicals?
Bedbuyer reproduced a historical Sommuto statement that “our foams are low VOC (volatile organic compounds) and do not contain mercury, lead or formaldehyde”. That is a brand claim as quoted by Bedbuyer, not an independent chemical test or certification. Bedbuyer said it could not locate formal non-toxic certifications. [Bedbuyer]
