Sometimes, but only if the player supports the power bank’s output through a correctly matched connection. A USB port is not automatically compatible: the MEGATEK PD-1256 manual, for example, says that model does not support USB charging and specifies other power options. Check your exact player’s manual and input label before connecting anything.
Charging the battery and running on external power are different
A portable DVD player may accept external DC power without that input charging its internal battery. The manual needs to say which function it supports; don’t infer battery charging from the presence of a DC input or from the fact that the player turns on.
There is no universal answer across portable DVD players. For the MEGATEK PD-1256, the manual specifies its supplied AC adapter or a 9–12V DC car adapter and says USB charging is not supported. Other models have different instructions. See the MEGATEK PD-1256 manual.
Check the player’s requirements before choosing a power bank
- Identify the exact model. Read the make and model from the player’s label.
- Check the manual and the DC-input label. Confirm the specified voltage, required current, polarity and connector dimensions. A plug that fits physically can still be electrically wrong.
- Find out what the input does. Confirm whether the manufacturer documents it for charging the internal battery, operating the player from external power, or both.
- Check the power bank’s output. Read the specifications for the particular port and confirm its supported voltage and current. USB-C by itself does not guarantee a particular output voltage.
- Verify the conversion equipment. If using a USB-C power bank with a DC-input player, the trigger cable or regulated converter must request and supply the player’s specified voltage, provide enough current, and have the correct polarity and plug size.
If any requirement is unknown, use the manufacturer-specified adapter rather than guessing. Do not connect a generic USB cable directly to a DC barrel input.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What a USB-C PD setup can—and cannot—do
USB Power Delivery can negotiate among supported power modes, but a power bank only supplies modes it is designed to offer. The USB-C connector alone does not establish that the bank can provide a DVD player’s required DC voltage. A USB-C PD-to-DC trigger cable or regulated converter may bridge the difference for a player whose documentation supports external DC input, provided every electrical and connector requirement matches. USB-IF explains the negotiated nature of USB PD in its USB Power Delivery overview.
Do not treat a cable advertised for a particular voltage as universally suitable. Confirm the player’s requirements and the adapter’s output and wiring before connecting it.

Model-specific examples: why the label matters
| Player example | Documented power information | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| MEGATEK PD-1256 | Supplied AC adapter or DC 9–12V car adapter; USB charging is not supported. | USB charging is not an option for this model. Its stated DC range does not establish that an arbitrary converter will charge its battery. |
| LG portable DVD player (model-specific manual) | Manual documents a DC 12V IN connection and limits for the automotive adapter. | Use the exact manual to verify compatibility; the 12V figure is not a general rule for LG players or portable DVD players. |
| Logik L10SPDV13 | Manual lists a DC 9–12V, 1.5A unit input and a 12V car adapter. | Those ratings apply to this model only; match a proposed source and connector to its documentation. |
| Philips PET830 | Documentation describes a supplied AC adapter, car adapter and rechargeable battery, with model-specific cautions. | Consult its manual for supported charging and external-power behavior rather than assuming another model’s requirements apply. |
Which power path should you use?
| Power path | Compatibility check | Charging versus operation |
|---|---|---|
| Original AC adapter | Use the adapter specified for the exact player. | Follow the manual’s description of whether it charges the battery, runs the player, or does both. |
| Compatible car adapter | Use only one specified or approved for that model, with matching output and connector. | External operation does not by itself prove that the internal battery is charging. |
| Power bank with DC converter or trigger cable | Match the player’s voltage, current, polarity and connector; check the bank’s supported output modes. | Use only when the player documentation supports the relevant external DC input; battery charging must be confirmed separately. |
The documents available for these examples do not establish a universally compatible converter or a predictable runtime. Runtime depends on the specific player, its battery and load, and the power bank and conversion setup.
