Soluna has filed plans for Project Kati II, a planned 471,884-square-foot data-center building in Willacy County, Texas, designed for approximately 112 megawatts (MW) of critical IT load. A 2026 Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation registration puts the building’s estimated construction value at about $471.8 million. The filing describes private funding, private land and private use, but does not provide a construction start or completion date.
What Soluna is proposing
Project Kati II is a single new building intended for high-density computing, including artificial-intelligence workloads. The 112MW figure is the building’s reported critical-IT load—the power available to computing equipment—rather than a statement that the facility is already operating.
| Item | Reported detail | Source and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Project | Project Kati II (also written Kati 2) | Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation registration, 2026 |
| Location | Willacy County, Texas | Project filing and company disclosures |
| Building area | Approximately 471,884 square feet | 2026 registration, as reported by Data Center Dynamics |
| Critical IT load | Approximately 112MW | 2026 registration, as reported by Data Center Dynamics |
| Estimated construction value | About $471.8 million | Filing estimate; not a final project cost |
| Use and funding | Private use, private land and private funding | Characterization in the filing |
The reported construction value is an estimate attached to the filing. It should not be read as a guaranteed total investment: final costs can change with design, equipment, financing, labor and grid-connection requirements.

How Kati II fits into the wider campus
Soluna’s disclosures describe a larger, multi-phase development, so the campus figures should not be confused with the 112MW building registration.
#1 Best Overall

- PCI & HIPPA and EIA/ECA-310-E compliant
Disclosed phases
- Soluna’s 2026 Form 10-Q describes a 100MW first phase and an additional 250MW second phase.
- An investor presentation sets a 350MW full-campus expansion target.
- Soluna’s Kati project FAQ refers to 166MW of broader Kati campus capacity.
These numbers cover different scopes or planning references. The 112MW figure belongs specifically to the newly filed building. The 100MW and 250MW figures describe the joint venture’s disclosed phases, while 350MW is the stated full-campus target. The 166MW figure in the FAQ is a separate broader-campus reference and is not a replacement for the building’s filing capacity.
Who is developing the project?
Soluna and Metrobloks are developing Kati 2 through a definitive joint-venture agreement dated June 3, 2026. Soluna’s SEC filing says the joint venture will invest in a newly formed entity to develop and operate the multi-phase Willacy County campus.
Metrobloks’ stated role
Soluna’s investor presentation assigns Metrobloks responsibility for AI-ready data-center design and operations, pre-lease and customer engagement, and day-to-day site management.

Soluna’s stated contribution
Soluna contributes site control and entitlements, access to the ERCOT grid, a wind-energy pipeline, and electrical-equipment and development expertise. The arrangement is intended to combine data-center delivery and customer operations with Soluna’s site and power position.
Is the facility powered by wind?
Soluna describes the wider Kati campus as wind-powered and says it is intended to support Bitcoin hosting now while accommodating AI and high-performance-computing demand as that market grows. Its investor presentation describes wind resources combined with dual-fed ERCOT grid power.
That strategy indicates the campus is planned around renewable generation and grid connectivity, but it does not establish that every megawatt consumed by the 112MW building will come from wind at all times. Actual power procurement, interconnection arrangements, storage, backup generation and operating emissions will depend on final engineering and commercial contracts.

What has not been announced
The current filing and company disclosures leave several practical questions unanswered:
- No construction start date or completion date has been provided. The project report specifically says the filing contains no construction timeline.
- No final tenant, customer or pre-lease for the 112MW building has been named.
- No final equipment vendors have been identified.
- Operating economics—including the final power mix, utilization assumptions and customer pricing—have not been disclosed for this building.
Accordingly, Kati II should be described as a planned data-center project, not an operating facility or a commissioned AI site.

A 112MW critical-IT building is a substantial addition to Texas’ expanding data-center pipeline. At the reported size, the project would combine nearly half a million square feet with power capacity aimed at intensive computing. The filing also shows how Soluna is positioning an existing energy and grid strategy for workloads beyond cryptocurrency mining.

The key distinction for readers and investors is development status. The registration establishes a project scope and an estimated construction value; it does not establish that construction has begun, that power has been delivered to the building, or that a customer is committed. Those milestones require separate announcements or filings.
What to watch next
- Construction notice: Look for a start date, contractor announcement or updated regulatory record.
- Power and interconnection: Watch for details on ERCOT service, dual-feed design, wind supply and backup systems.
- Customer commitments: A named AI, high-performance-computing or other anchor tenant would clarify the building’s intended workload.
- Updated capacity accounting: Future disclosures may reconcile the 112MW building with the 100MW, 250MW, 350MW and 166MW campus references.
- Cost revisions: The $471.8 million estimate may change as design and procurement become more defined.
The Bottom Line
Soluna has filed plans for a privately funded, approximately 471,884-square-foot Project Kati II building in Willacy County with about 112MW of critical IT capacity and an estimated $471.8 million construction value. The project is being developed with Metrobloks as part of a larger wind-and-ERCOT-connected campus, but its schedule, tenant, vendors and operating economics remain unannounced.
