The Sôlt GGSUM52 is a 52 cm undermount rangehood with a published extraction rate of 550 m³/hr, three push-button speeds and either ducted extraction or recirculation. Its stated dimensions are 520 × 284 × 294 mm, and it needs a 150 mm air tube for ducting. The model is listed as discontinued by CHOICE, so treat availability and compatible replacement parts as questions to verify before buying.
What the GGSUM52 offers
The GGSUM52 is designed to fit beneath cabinetry. Sôlt’s manual lists a five-layer aluminium grease filter with stainless steel fascia, two 1.5W LED lamps and three-speed push-button controls. The published maximum noise level is 68 dB(A).
Its extraction rating is 550 m³/hr. The manual says this airflow figure was tested at 230V, 50Hz without carbon filters. It is a manufacturer specification, not an independent comparative test result; real-world performance will depend on installation and ducting.

Check the available space against the manual’s product dimensions: 520 mm wide, 284 mm deep and 294 mm high. These are appliance dimensions, not a guarantee that every cabinet cut-out or mounting arrangement will suit. Confirm the installation details in the model manual before altering cabinetry.

The manual sets minimum clearance between the rangehood and cooktop at 500 mm for electric and 650 mm for gas. Follow the manual and applicable local requirements, including any greater clearance they require.
How it vents: ducted or recirculating
The manual describes both extraction-air and recirculation modes. For ducted installation, the specified air-tube diameter is 150 mm. Plan the duct route and outlet before installation; the stated extraction figure does not by itself establish performance for a particular duct layout.

For recirculation, the manual describes optional activated charcoal filters. The material available does not establish the exact compatible charcoal-filter part number, so confirm compatibility with the seller or manufacturer using the full GGSUM52 model number before ordering.

The manual includes this safety restriction: “The exhaust air must not be introduced into a smoke flue or chimney that is used for exhausting fumes from appliances burning gas.”

Cleaning and replacement filters
The supplied grease filter is an aluminium five-layer filter with stainless fascia. Follow the manual’s cleaning and maintenance instructions, and check the filter condition as part of routine upkeep. The manual recommends original spare parts; verify that any replacement is specifically compatible with GGSUM52 rather than relying on appearance or a similar model name.
Because the compatible charcoal-filter part number has not been established here, do not assume a filter listed for a newer Sôlt 52 cm model will fit. Ask the manufacturer or retailer to confirm the part against your appliance’s model identification.

Availability, warranty and buying checks
CHOICE lists the GGSUM52 as discontinued. That does not establish whether a particular seller still has stock, so verify that a listing is for the exact GGSUM52 and check the unit’s condition, included components, return terms and warranty with the seller.
The manual states a 24-month manufacturing-defect warranty for domestic use in Australia, beginning from original purchase, subject to its terms. It also says the warranty supplements non-excludable Australian statutory warranties. Confirm the terms that apply to the specific unit and purchase; the manual’s warranty statement is specific to domestic use in Australia.

If weighing this against another rangehood, compare cabinet fit, duct diameter and route, installation clearance, extraction configuration, noise, filter availability and cost, controls, warranty and current stock. Newer Sôlt 52 cm models are distinct products: their specifications or accessories do not establish GGSUM52 compatibility.

Verdict
The GGSUM52’s published specifications describe a straightforward undermount unit with ducted and recirculating options, but the fit, 150 mm duct requirement and clearances need to work for your kitchen. Its discontinued status makes exact-model stock and spare-filter compatibility the main practical uncertainties. It is worth considering only after confirming those details for the specific unit you intend to buy.
