For the English Yen Press collected comic, read Solo Leveling Volumes 1 through 13, then Volume 14 (Side Stories 1) and Volume 15 (Side Stories 2). Start Solo Leveling: Ragnarok only after Volume 15. That is the clearest complete sequence for the original manhwa and its sequel.
This numbering is specific to Yen Press’s English print edition. Digital episode numbers and editions published in other regions may use different labels, so treat the volume order below as an edition-specific guide rather than a universal chapter map.
The complete Solo Leveling reading order
The original comic is a single numbered run in the Yen Press English catalog. Its first thirteen volumes contain the main Sung Jinwoo story. The final two volumes are not optional extras in the collected edition: Yen Press labels them as the two side-story books that complete the original comic sequence.
| Order | Book | What it contains | When to read it |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Solo Leveling, Vol. 1 | Main story begins | First |
| 2–13 | Solo Leveling, Vols. 2–13 | Continuing main story | In numerical order |
| 14 | Solo Leveling, Vol. 14: Side Stories 1 | First side-story collection | After Vol. 13 |
| 15 | Solo Leveling, Vol. 15: Side Stories 2 | Second side-story collection | After Vol. 14 |
| 16 onward | Solo Leveling: Ragnarok, Vol. 1 onward | Sequel focused on Sung Suho | After all 15 original volumes |
In shorthand: Vol. 1 → Vol. 2 → … → Vol. 13 → Vol. 14: Side Stories 1 → Vol. 15: Side Stories 2 → Ragnarok Vol. 1 onward.

What happens in Volumes 1–13?
Volumes 1 through 13 are the core Solo Leveling narrative. They follow Sung Jinwoo’s progression and the central conflicts of the original series. If you are reading collected books, do not skip ahead because a later volume has a more familiar title or because a digital service presents episodes in a different layout. The Yen Press catalog’s numerical order is the reliable sequence for these books.
Why the number matters
A volume number in this series identifies its place in the collected English edition, not necessarily a fixed number of digital episodes. A digital chapter can end at a different point from a print volume, and bonus or special episodes may be listed separately. Use the print number only when you are following the Yen Press collection; use the platform’s own episode navigation when you are reading digitally.
Do the side stories come before Ragnarok?
Yes. Read both side-story collections before opening Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. Volume 14 is explicitly titled Side Stories 1, and Volume 15 is explicitly titled Side Stories 2. Together they finish the original comic’s collected run and provide the most complete transition into the next-generation premise.

Read this immediately after Volume 13. It is not a replacement for an uncollected main-story volume; it is the first of two books designated by Yen Press as side stories. Reading it in sequence preserves the intended post-main-story context before the second collection.
Volume 15: Side Stories 2
Read Volume 15 after Volume 14. Yen Press identifies it as Side Stories 2, making it the last book in the original fifteen-volume comic catalog. The publisher’s description connects the material to the characters and circumstances that lead into the sequel, including the relationship between Sung Suho and the earlier generation represented by Jinwoo and Haein.
If you are trying to identify the final side-story book in a store or library, look for the subtitle Side Stories 2, not just the number. Yen Press lists the English edition’s ISBN as 9798400904677 and a March 17, 2026 release date. Availability can vary by retailer and territory, so confirm that the listing is the English comic edition.
When should you start Solo Leveling: Ragnarok?
Begin Solo Leveling: Ragnarok after Volume 15. Yen Press presents Ragnarok as the sequel to the original Solo Leveling comic and novel, and lists its comic volumes separately. The sequel follows Sung Suho, whose family connection to Jinwoo and Haein is established in the description for Volume 15.

Do not treat Ragnarok as Volume 16 of the original series. It starts a new numbered sequence. Yen Press currently lists Ragnarok comic Volumes 1, 2, and 3. A practical shelf order is therefore:
- Original Solo Leveling Volumes 1–15.
- Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Vol. 1.
- Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Vol. 2.
- Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Vol. 3, followed by later sequel volumes as they are released.
Why not start with Ragnarok?
Starting with the sequel may introduce Suho’s role without the context supplied by the original ending and side stories. You can understand that it is a new story, but reading the fifteen original volumes first gives you the family, history, and post-ending setup that the sequel assumes or references.
Digital reading order on Tapas
Tapas marks its original Solo Leveling comic as completed and separates the regular episodes from special episodes. For a digital-only reader, finish the complete original listing, including its special-episode material as presented by Tapas, before moving to the Ragnarok listing.
Do Tapas episodes map exactly to print volumes?
No complete chapter-to-volume crosswalk is established by the Tapas listing. Episode numbering and print-volume boundaries can differ, so do not assume that a particular episode number equals Yen Press Volume 1, 2, or 15. If you switch from digital to print, use story checkpoints or the publisher’s volume descriptions rather than an unofficial episode conversion.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsTapas status for Ragnarok
Tapas’s Solo Leveling: Ragnarok page lists 69 episodes. A notice dated January 31, 2026, says that season 2 had ended and that the comic would take a hiatus before season 3. The notice does not provide a return date. Therefore, readers should treat the listed episodes as the currently available digital material and should not infer a schedule for season 3.

Print volumes versus digital episodes
Choose the path that matches how you plan to continue reading:
- All print: Follow Yen Press Volumes 1–13, then 14 and 15, then the separately numbered Ragnarok volumes.
- All digital: Complete Tapas’s original series listing, including its special episodes, then open the Ragnarok series page.
- Mixed format: Finish the original digital series first, then identify your next print book by its title and subtitle. Do not rely on episode numbers alone.
The two systems describe the same broad reading progression but organize content differently. Print books package chapters into volumes; Tapas presents episodes and special episodes in its own sequence. That difference is normal and does not mean one edition is missing a numbered volume.

The sequence in this article is grounded in Yen Press’s English collected-comic catalog. Other languages, territories, licensing arrangements, and digital services can publish different volume labels, release dates, or episode groupings. A regional edition may not call the side stories Volumes 14 and 15, even when it contains equivalent material.
Recommended Free Tools
When checking a non-English or non-Yen Press edition, verify three details: whether the book is the comic rather than the novel, whether the side-story subtitle is included, and whether the sequel is labeled Ragnarok with its own volume number. If any of those labels differ, follow that edition’s internal numbering while preserving the same story-level order: original main story, both side-story collections, then sequel.

Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Skipping Volume 14 or 15
Because the books are called side stories, some readers jump directly from Volume 13 to Ragnarok. That produces an incomplete original-comic run. Read both collections; the publisher places them inside the fifteen-volume catalog and describes Ragnarok as the sequel afterward.
Calling Volume 15 “Ragnarok Volume 1”
Volume 15 belongs to the original series and is labeled Side Stories 2. Ragnarok Vol. 1 is a separate sequel book with separate numbering. Keep the titles distinct when ordering, cataloging, or lending them.
Assuming 69 episodes equals a fixed number of books
Tapas’s 69-episode count is a platform listing, not a print-volume conversion. It cannot establish which Yen Press volume contains a particular episode without an official crosswalk.
Expecting a date for season 3
The January 31, 2026 Tapas notice confirms a hiatus after season 2 but gives no return date. Check the current platform notice rather than relying on a predicted launch window.
Quick Recap
A simple checklist before you begin
- Confirm that your original-series list contains Volumes 1 through 13.
- Add Volume 14, labeled Side Stories 1.
- Add Volume 15, labeled Side Stories 2.
- Only then start Solo Leveling: Ragnarok Vol. 1.
- If you are switching formats, verify the edition and avoid converting episode numbers into print volumes without an official guide.
