For the greeting example, Python uses an f-string inside print(), while Sofya spells out the output as a Write instruction followed by text and a variable. Timothy Oywera argues that Sofya’s wording is easier for beginners to read; that is his assessment of the syntax, not a conclusion from a measured learner study.
How the two examples display a name
Both snippets aim to show a greeting containing the value of a name. In Python, the example is:
print(f"Hello {name}. Welcome back!")
The f marks a formatted string, and {name} inserts the variable’s value into the greeting. The print() call sends the resulting text to output.

It uses the Write instruction and describes the text and variable as separate pieces to output. In this example, the variable is written as Variable[Name].
Why Oywera says Sofya feels simpler
Oywera’s case is about how the code reads, not how quickly a program runs. He points to Sofya’s lack of parentheses around the output instruction and its plain-language phrasing for combining fixed text with a variable. He describes Write as a memorable keyword and says the instruction can feel more natural to a beginner.
Rank #2
Those points are a readability argument based on the displayed examples. The article reports no controlled comparison, learner-comprehension results, or other evidence that establishes Sofya as objectively easier for beginners.

- Output syntax: Python’s example has a function call,
print(), with parentheses. Sofya’s starts withWriteand has no parentheses. - Joining text and a variable: Python places
{name}inside an f-string. Sofya states the text and variable as parts of an instruction joined by “and also write.” - What the syntax favors: A reader who already recognizes Python’s f-strings may find that compact form familiar. A reader who prefers explicit, sentence-like instructions may find Sofya’s phrasing more immediately legible.
These are differences visible in the examples, not a formal ranking of the languages or a measure of how easy either is to learn.

Oywera presents Sofya as a new programming language he made and links to its GitHub repository. The project should not be confused with another tool also called Sofya (Σοφία), a Java analysis system whose documentation discusses text output for analysis and graph generation. That is a separate project, not evidence about Oywera’s language.
The available information does not establish the current maintenance status, adoption, or installation reliability of Oywera’s repository. The comparison here is therefore limited to the output syntax and the author’s stated reasons for preferring its wording.
