In Gizmochina’s August 2026 comparison, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 leads the Dimensity 8500 Ultra in the reported Geekbench and AnTuTu v11 scores and the 3DMark Wild Life Extreme stress test. The Dimensity phone posts the higher AnTuTu UX score and has the higher listed peak cellular download rate. These benchmark results are from a POCO F7 and a POCO X8 Pro, respectively—not a controlled, processor-only comparison.

Benchmark results: Snapdragon leads in most reported tests

Gizmochina’s comparison, updated August 27, 2026, identifies the POCO F7 as its Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 test phone and the POCO X8 Pro as its Dimensity 8500 Ultra test phone. The figures below are results reported for those handsets; they have not been independently reproduced here.

Test Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 (POCO F7) Dimensity 8500 Ultra (POCO X8 Pro)
Geekbench single-core 2,047 1,603
Geekbench multi-core 6,620 6,411
AnTuTu v11 total 2,326,902 2,110,684
AnTuTu CPU 682,606 601,843
AnTuTu GPU 811,300 655,088
AnTuTu memory 374,937 370,749
AnTuTu UX 458,059 483,004
3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test high score 4,470 4,162
3DMark Wild Life Extreme Stress Test low score 3,542 3,056
3DMark stability 79.24% 73.43%

Snapdragon’s advantage appears in both Geekbench scores, the AnTuTu total and its CPU and GPU sub-scores, plus the reported 3DMark high and low scores and stability. The Dimensity-equipped phone scores higher on AnTuTu UX, a sub-score associated with user experience. These results describe the tested phones; the comparison does not establish equivalent cooling, software, memory, or power settings.

How to read the numbers

Benchmark scores are useful for comparing performance under a particular test, but they are not guaranteed outcomes for every phone with the same chip. Device design and configuration can affect results, so treat the table as a comparison of the POCO F7 and POCO X8 Pro in Gizmochina’s tests, not as a universal ranking of all phones using these platforms.

NanoReview lists AnTuTu 11 averages of 2,314,417 for Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 and 2,120,347 for the standard Dimensity 8500, with 457 and 81 samples shown on its comparison page. This is a changing aggregate for Dimensity 8500, not specifically the Ultra-branded variant, so it is separate context rather than another result from the POCO comparison.

Specifications: what is confirmed for the Dimensity 8500

MediaTek’s official product page describes the Dimensity 8500 without Ultra branding. The Ultra-specific matchup figures below come from Gizmochina’s comparison; they should not be taken as separately confirmed by MediaTek for an Ultra SKU. The MediaTek column distinguishes the official standard 8500 specifications from the Ultra details reported by Gizmochina.

Area Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 Dimensity 8500 Ultra / Dimensity 8500 reference
CPU Gizmochina reports 1 Cortex-X4 core up to 3.2 GHz, 3 Cortex-A720 cores up to 3.0 GHz, 2 up to 2.8 GHz, and 2 up to 2.02 GHz. MediaTek’s standard Dimensity 8500 page lists 1 Cortex-A725 core up to 3.4 GHz, 3 up to 3.2 GHz, and 4 up to 2.2 GHz. Gizmochina lists the same layout for the Ultra comparison.
GPU Gizmochina identifies Adreno 825 and ray tracing support. MediaTek lists Arm Mali-G720 MC8 for the standard 8500; Gizmochina lists Mali-G720 MP8 for the Ultra.
AI Gizmochina identifies a Qualcomm Hexagon NPU. MediaTek lists NPU 880 and highlights Diffusion Transformer support, NeuroPilot compression, INT4 quantization, and speculative decoding for the standard 8500.
Memory and storage Gizmochina lists LPDDR5X and UFS 4.0. MediaTek lists four-channel LPDDR5X at up to 9600 Mbps and UFS 4 with MCQ for the standard 8500.
Peak cellular download Gizmochina lists up to 4.2 Gbps for Snapdragon X75. MediaTek lists up to 5.17 Gbps downlink for the standard 8500.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth Gizmochina lists Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0. MediaTek confirms Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 for the standard 8500; Gizmochina lists the same for the Ultra.
Camera and video support Gizmochina reports support for a single camera up to 320 MP, 4K/60 video, and Snapdragon Spectra ISP features. MediaTek lists up to a 320 MP sensor, three 32 MP cameras at 30 fps, 4K60 capture, and Imagiq 1080 for the standard 8500.

The cellular figures are advertised platform maxima, not promises about real-world download speeds. Actual connectivity depends on the phone, network, region, and conditions. Camera support figures describe platform capabilities; a phone maker’s sensors and software tuning shape the photos and video a device actually produces.

Which differences matter for everyday use?

CPU performance

Gizmochina’s comparison describes the Snapdragon CPU as having a prime Cortex-X4 core, while the standard Dimensity 8500 specification uses Cortex-A725 cores throughout and lists a higher peak clock. A peak frequency alone does not determine application performance; the reported handset benchmarks provide a more direct, though still device-specific, comparison.

Graphics and sustained gaming

The POCO F7 scores higher than the POCO X8 Pro in the reported 3DMark stress test, including the low score and stability result. MediaTek describes its Mali-G720 MC8 and HyperEngine features as designed for gaming and power efficiency, but that vendor description is not an independent head-to-head result against Snapdragon. Phone cooling and power behavior also matter to sustained play.

Connectivity

Gizmochina lists Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0 for Snapdragon, compared with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4 for the Dimensity matchup; MediaTek’s standard 8500 page confirms Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.4. The Dimensity 8500 has the higher listed maximum downlink, so neither the benchmark table nor one connectivity specification settles every buyer’s needs.

Camera capability

Both platforms are listed with support for a camera sensor up to 320 MP and 4K60 video, but those ceilings do not predict image quality. Compare the specific phones’ camera hardware and reviews if photography is a priority.

Which one should you choose?

On the published POCO handset results, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 is ahead in most of the listed performance tests, including the 3DMark stress results. The Dimensity 8500 Ultra’s POCO phone has a higher AnTuTu UX score, and the standard Dimensity 8500 specification lists a higher peak cellular downlink maximum. Those are different kinds of advantage, not a single all-purpose winner.
