Apple A15 Bionic leads the reported Geekbench 6 CPU averages and 3DMark Wild Life Extreme score in this comparison. Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, however, pairs an eight-core CPU with Qualcomm platform features such as an X65 5G modem-RF system and an 18-bit ISP. These figures come from aggregated device results, not a controlled test of two matched phones, so they indicate a broad comparison rather than a guaranteed real-world winner.
At a glance: A15 leads the cited benchmark results
NanoReview’s comparison page, accessed October 7, 2026, reports higher Geekbench 6 single-core and multi-core averages for A15, along with a higher listed 3DMark Wild Life Extreme score. Those are database aggregates drawn from multiple devices: the page reports 54 Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 CPU samples and 37 A15 CPU samples. They are not results from a single matched-device test.

The practical choice depends on the phone as well as the chip. Cooling, firmware, software, display resolution and vendor tuning can change performance; the aggregate comparison does not establish a universal handset-level winner.

Qualcomm’s product page lists Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 as 4 nm, while NanoReview attributes its manufacture to Samsung. The process labels alone do not establish which chip is faster or more power-efficient. Qualcomm’s November 29, 2021 launch announcement describes the X65 modem-RF system, commercial 18-bit ISP, 8K HDR capture and gaming features. Its claims about improvements over Qualcomm’s previous generation are not direct comparisons with A15.
Geekbench 6 CPU results
NanoReview reports these Geekbench 6 CPU averages. The values are its aggregated comparison results, not an independent matched test commissioned for this article.
| Chip | Single-core average | Multi-core average | CPU samples reported |
|---|---|---|---|
| Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 | 1,662 | 4,188 | 54 |
| Apple A15 Bionic | 2,315 | 5,753 | 37 |
In these averages, A15 scores higher in both CPU tests. Geekbench results still describe tested devices and workloads, not every phone that uses either chip; cooling and software can affect a device’s result.

NanoReview lists a 3DMark Wild Life Extreme score of 2,255 for Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 and 2,854 for A15. It also lists stability values of 63% and 76%, respectively. These are the comparison page’s figures, not a guarantee of gaming frame rates or sustained performance in any particular phone. The page does not establish matched cooling, software or test conditions across all contributing devices.
GPU configuration also matters: the comparison lists Adreno 730 for Snapdragon, while A15 devices are listed with four- or five-core Apple-designed GPUs. A result from one A15 device configuration should not automatically be treated as representative of every A15 phone.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why some benchmark scores cannot be compared directly
- AnTuTu: NanoReview explicitly warns that its iOS and Android results are not directly comparable.
- Geekbench GPU compute: The page uses Metal for iOS and OpenCL for Android, and says those results are not directly comparable.
- Graphics stability: The listed stability values do not isolate chip behavior from phone-level thermal design and test conditions.
For a fair comparison, keep the benchmark version, workload and API in view. A higher result in one test does not mean the same lead in another workload.
Which chip should you prefer?
For the cited CPU and graphics scores
A15 is ahead in NanoReview’s reported Geekbench 6 CPU averages and its listed 3DMark Wild Life Extreme score. Treat that as the result of this aggregate comparison, not a prediction that every A15 phone will outperform every Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 phone.

For platform capabilities
Snapdragon 8 Gen 1’s documented platform feature set includes Qualcomm’s X65 5G modem-RF system, 18-bit ISP and 8K HDR capture. Those capabilities describe the platform; their implementation and availability in a finished phone depend on the device.
For choosing an actual phone
Compare the specific handset models, not only their chip names. The cited comparison does not control for cooling, firmware, software or display resolution, and it does not establish a universal device-level winner.
