Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 comes out ahead in the available AnTuTu comparison: 91mobiles reports 846,599 for its tested Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 phone and 478,134 for its tested Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 phone. Those are results from device samples, not universal scores for the processors. Both Qualcomm platforms use a 4 nm process, but differ in their modem families and stated capabilities.
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 vs. Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 at a glance
| Specification | Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 | Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 |
|---|---|---|
| Process | 4 nm, according to Qualcomm | 4 nm, according to Qualcomm |
| Maximum listed CPU clock | Up to 2.3 GHz; Qualcomm also notes a 2.2 GHz version | Up to 2.2 GHz |
| 5G modem | Snapdragon X61 | Snapdragon X62 |
| Qualcomm’s series positioning | Entry tier, Snapdragon 4 Series | Mid-tier, Snapdragon 6 Series |
| Qualcomm’s stated comparison with its predecessor | Up to 10% CPU improvement | Up to 35% CPU and 30% GPU improvement |
These improvement figures use each platform’s own previous generation as the baseline. They are not a direct performance comparison between Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 and Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. Qualcomm’s specifications describe platform capabilities; phone makers determine how a chip is implemented in a particular device.
Which processor is faster in benchmarks?
In the AnTuTu comparison reported by 91mobiles, the tested Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 phone scored 846,599, while the tested Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 phone scored 478,134. The result favors Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 in that sample.
The report does not identify the phone models, AnTuTu version, memory configurations, cooling conditions, or repeat count. Treat the numbers as a directional result from two tested devices, not a controlled, universal score for either processor. Qualcomm also cautions on its Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 product page that “Actual results may vary depending on device design.”

What the clock speeds and platform claims do—and do not—tell you
CPU frequency is not a complete performance measure
Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 has a listed maximum clock of up to 2.3 GHz, while Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is listed at up to 2.2 GHz. That difference alone does not establish which chip is faster overall: maximum frequency is only one specification, and the available device-tested AnTuTu comparison favors Snapdragon 6 Gen 1.
Improvement claims use different baselines
Qualcomm advertises up to 35% CPU and 30% GPU improvement for Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 compared with its previous generation. Those are Qualcomm’s claims, not independent test results, and they do not measure Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 against Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. Likewise, Snapdragon 4 Gen 2’s stated CPU improvement is relative to its own predecessor.

What to compare when choosing between phones
A processor comparison cannot identify a universal phone winner. Compare the exact handset models and configurations, paying attention to:
The Tool Desk
Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Outbyte PC Repair FREEClear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →- Price and availability: Check the price for the specific model and storage configuration in your region.
- Memory and storage: Confirm the RAM and storage included in the version you would buy.
- Screen and cameras: Display quality and camera hardware and processing are phone-level choices, not conclusions that follow from the processor name alone.
- Battery and charging: Compare the capacities and charging features of the actual handsets.
- Software support: Review the manufacturer’s update policy for each exact model.
- Network compatibility: Check the phone’s supported bands against your carrier and region. Qualcomm lists an X61 modem and peak download speeds up to 2.5 Gbps for Snapdragon 4 Gen 2; the modem specification alone does not establish a phone’s supported bands or real-world speeds.
- Device-specific performance: Prefer independent tests of the exact phones, ideally using the same benchmark version and comparable conditions.
If you are choosing only between these processors, the cited AnTuTu sample points to Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. For a purchase, judge the complete phone rather than assuming the chip comparison predicts every part of daily use.
