CHOICE also lists claimed fridge volume of 228 L, freezer volume of 98 L and energy use of 323 kWh/year. Its capacity breakdown differs from Smeg’s sheet, even though both sources state the same energy-use figure. The available figures do not explain the difference in capacity basis, so compare products using clearly attributed figures rather than choosing one total as definitive.

What the review evidence can—and cannot—tell you
CHOICE’s record says the model was tested in 2020 and is discontinued. Its expert rating and results for food freshness, temperature stability, evenness and range, response to outside temperature, heat-load processing, noise, reliability and satisfaction are members-only on the accessible page. Those results cannot be inferred from the public listing or from the manufacturer’s specifications.
That means there is not enough public evidence here to give a defensible verdict on how well this exact refrigerator keeps food cold, how reliably it performs, or how owners rate it. The 41 dBA figure is Smeg’s stated specification, not a substitute for CHOICE’s test result.

Smeg lists three quick-chill glass shelves, a bottle rack, a crisper cover and drawer, door shelves, two freezer drawers and a flap compartment. The sheet describes the appliance as total frost free and lists an ice box and fast-freezing compartment. Confirm that the shelves, drawers and accessories are present on any used or remaining-stock unit; the published sheet does not establish current replacement-part availability.

The stated depth includes the handle. Allow for the door’s swing and the space needed to open it, and measure the delivery route as well as the final kitchen space. The left hinge matters: check that the door can open fully without hitting a wall, cabinetry or island.

- Measure the opening and access route. Compare them with the stated 600 × 1926 × 720 mm dimensions, then check the actual appliance and packaging measurements with the seller. Smeg says its drawings are indicative and advises using physical product measurements for cutouts.
- Confirm door clearance and hinge orientation. This model is identified as left hinge. Do not assume the door can be reversed; confirm that the exact unit’s hinge arrangement suits the installation.
- Check the electrical connection. The Australian sheet specifies 220–240 V, 50 Hz, 10 A and a 3-pin plug. Confirm the unit and location meet local requirements.
- Verify included components. Check the shelves, drawers, ice box and other supplied parts against the actual unit before purchase.
Energy use and model-year comparisons
The Australian sheet’s 323 kWh/year and 3.5-star figures belong to this NA1-era specification. Smeg says energy use was tested under AS/NZS 4474.2 and that actual use and running costs depend on use conditions. The star rating is on the Australian scale; it should not be directly compared with a newer European energy-label class.
Smeg’s UK page for a later FAB32 version gives different dimensions—1968 × 601 × 728 mm—and describes No-Frost and Multiflow. Those details are for a different market and later version, not the FAB32LSVNA1. Check the full model code and local energy label when considering a newer appliance.

- Age and condition: ask for the unit’s age, service history and a demonstration that both compartments operate normally.
- Warranty: the two-year parts-and-labour term is stated on the 2017 sheet, but that does not establish coverage for used appliances or remaining stock. Get the applicable terms in writing.
- Service and parts: confirm local service support and availability of model-specific parts before committing. The specification sheet alone does not prove that replacements are currently stocked.
- Exact identity: check the model label for FAB32LSVNA1; specifications for another FAB32 variant may differ.
- Installation: verify dimensions, hinge direction, door swing and delivery access for the physical unit.
