The Smeg BCC13 is a compact, fully automatic bean-to-cup coffee machine with a built-in grinder and integrated milk system. It is designed for households that want espresso and milk drinks at the push of a button rather than a hands-on coffee routine. TechRadar reports consistent espresso and creamy foam from dairy milk, but also notes weaker results with plant-based alternatives and controls that take some learning. Those are TechRadar’s review findings, not our hands-on test results.
What the Smeg BCC13 is—and which model this review covers
The BCC13 grinds beans and makes coffee through one-touch controls. A separate milk bottle and pipe feed its integrated milk system. Smeg’s European product page identifies the white model as BCC13WHMEU; the Australian listing uses BCC13EGMAU. These suffixes identify regional variants, so check the exact SKU, voltage, warranty and local availability rather than assuming one market’s details apply elsewhere.
The BCC12 is the related alternative in Smeg UK’s product information: it uses a manual steam wand instead of the BCC13’s automatic milk frothing. That distinction matters if you would rather control milk steaming yourself than use a dedicated automatic system.

Smeg describes five beverage buttons across two menus, with a range of up to ten drinks, including milk drinks and hot water. On the cited white-model product page, the first menu lists espresso, coffee, hot water, cappuccino and latte macchiato. The second lists light espresso, long coffee, Americano, espresso macchiato and milk foam. Names vary across regional materials—for example, some use “lungo” where others say “long coffee”—so consult the manual for the exact SKU before relying on a particular drink name or menu.

The buttons are not necessarily self-explanatory. TechRadar says they require some learning, so buyers who want an immediately obvious interface may find the fixed menu less inviting than a machine with clearer labels or more direct drink customization.

Its 180 mm listed width is useful where counter space is tight, but the 433 mm depth still needs to fit your available surface. The adjustable dispenser height accommodates different cup sizes, with the taller clearance available only after removing the drip tray.

How the milk system is cleaned
Smeg’s product instructions describe an easy-clean cycle for the milk circuit. Connect the milk pipe to the dispenser, place the pipe in a container of water, then hold the Milk System Easy Cleaning button for three seconds to start the cleaning process. Smeg Australia describes the quick-clean cycle as 30 seconds; that is a manufacturer claim in Australian product material, not an independently timed test.

Smeg also lists an automatic startup rinse, manual coffee-dispenser cleaning, a decalcification alert and an optional ECWF01 water filter. The cited product page lists a milk bottle and lid, milk pipe, milk-circuit cleaning container, pipe case, cleaning needle, cleaning brush and water-hardness strip among the accessories. Confirm local package contents and filter compatibility for your machine before ordering replacements.
What independent coverage says about performance
TechRadar’s review roundup names the BCC13 its best fully automatic espresso machine. It credits the machine with ease of use and cleaning, consistently extracted espresso and creamy dairy-milk foam. It also reports that the automatic frother performs less well with plant-based alternatives and that the option buttons take some learning. These are the publication’s assessments, not results from our own testing.

TechRadar recommends the machine for people who prioritize convenience and make several coffees daily. Its stated trade-off is that people who enjoy the craft of making coffee, or need a lower-cost option, may prefer a manual machine. The roundup assigns the BCC13 scores of 4.5/5 for value and 5/5 for design and performance; these are TechRadar’s editorial ratings, not objective measurements or a guarantee of results in every kitchen.

- You want a built-in grinder and automatic coffee preparation rather than separate equipment and manual steps.
- You regularly make milk drinks and prefer an integrated automatic system to a manual steam wand.
- You have room for the machine’s listed depth and are comfortable choosing drinks from two menus.
Look carefully at alternatives if
- Plant-based milk is central to your routine: TechRadar reports poorer frothing with plant-based alternatives, so do not assume the dairy-milk assessment applies.
- You want hands-on control over steaming or the coffee-making process: the related BCC12 uses a manual steam wand, while the BCC13 automates milk frothing.
- You need a particular drink name, greater menu flexibility or especially straightforward controls: check your market’s menu and manual before buying.
Price, stock and warranty depend on your market
There is no single current global price or availability figure established for the BCC13. Smeg Australia’s storefront listed the BCC13EGMAU at A$599, reduced from A$1,199, when it was crawled in 2026; the same Australian listing stated a three-month replacement warranty plus a two-year repair warranty. This is a regional, time-sensitive snapshot, not a current offer or warranty promise for other markets. TechRadar describes US availability as more limited than in Europe, with select retailers and occasional Amazon listings; inventory can change.

Before ordering, verify the exact model suffix, voltage, live price, stock, delivery terms, return policy, warranty and access to local service. A listing for a similar BCC13 variant is not enough to establish that it is the right electrical or warranty version for your location.
