Yes. Skyrim offers two different ways to approach farming: gardening in Hearthfire planters, and the separate Farming Creation for a more farm-centered experience. You do not need to treat them as the same feature, and the available evidence does not establish that Farming is included with every edition of the game.
What “farming” means in Skyrim
In Skyrim, farming can mean either planting ingredients in Hearthfire planters or using the separate Farming Creation. The first is a limited gardening option; the second is distinct farm-focused content. Bethesda groups Creations, Creation Club items and community-made content under the current in-game Creations menu, but that menu’s availability does not mean every item is included in every edition.
A community mod page explicitly treats Hearthfire planters and Farming CC as separate systems it can support. That distinction is useful when deciding whether you need additional content: wanting to grow ingredients does not by itself mean you need the Farming Creation.

Yes: Hearthfire planters provide a gardening route without making the separate Farming Creation a prerequisite. The sources available for this article do not establish a complete list of planter locations, plantable ingredients, or yields, so it would be misleading to promise particular crops or production rates here.

For players who want to change how planter interactions work, the Nexus Mods page for Simplicity of Seeding – Better Hearthfires and Farming CC Planter Scripts describes changes to Hearthfire planters and says it also supports Farming CC. The listing reports version 0.7.1, last updated June 8, 2025. It lists SkyUI, SKSE, USSEP and Papyrus Extender as requirements for version 0.6 and later. Check the live page for current requirements and game-version compatibility before installing; a mod listing is not a guarantee that it will work with every setup or load order.
What the Farming Creation adds to the choice
The Farming Creation is separate content, rather than simply another name for Hearthfire planter gardening. A community overhaul, CC Farming – Tweaks Enhancements and Quest Expansion, describes itself as an overhaul of the Creation Club Farming Creation and lists Farming as a requirement. Its page reports version 1.5.7, updated March 8, 2026. This establishes the distinction and shows that community modifications exist; it does not establish the Creation’s full feature list or that it comes with any specific edition.

Use your own in-game Creations menu to check whether Farming is available to you and whether you already have access. Bethesda says availability can vary by region, title and platform, so do not assume a particular bundle includes it or that it can be acquired the same way on every platform.

If you only want to grow ingredients, start with Hearthfire planters. Consider Farming if you want its separate content and can confirm access in your version of the game. Add a planter mod only if its changes appeal to you and you are comfortable meeting its dependencies.

How to check Creations in Skyrim Special Edition
- Launch Skyrim Special Edition.
- From the main menu, choose Play, then select Creations, following Bethesda Support’s instructions.
- Check the menu on your own platform and account for the Farming Creation. Bethesda notes that Creations availability can vary by region, title and platform.
Bethesda’s December 5, 2023 announcement explains that Creations brings existing Mods, Creation Club items and new Creations together in one menu for supported Skyrim Special Edition and Anniversary Edition platforms. The announcement also gives the availability caveat; it is not a guarantee that every item is offered to every player.
