Skyopolis: Evolved currently targets Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 with NeoForge. For a client, install the pack through the CurseForge app. For multiplayer, download the separate Skyopolis_Evolved-7.0_server_pack.zip, install it on a NeoForge-compatible server, accept the Minecraft EULA when prompted, and launch it with the files supplied in that archive. Do not upload the client ZIP as a server installation.

This guide explains what the pack contains, which files match the current release, how to install a client and a dedicated server, how to choose between self-hosting and managed hosting, and what remains unknown about hardware, Java, player capacity, and public servers.

Skyopolis Evolved at a glance

Skyopolis: Evolved is a question-based sky-world modpack built around quest progression and technical automation. Its official CurseForge listing describes it as a questing skyblock pack for Minecraft 1.21.1, with a custom world, many quests, custom structures, mobs, and blocks. Progression is organized around machine frames that become more difficult as you advance.

Item Current information
Game edition Minecraft Java Edition
Minecraft version 1.21.1
Modloader NeoForge
Current listed client release Skyopolis_Evolved-7.0.zip
Current listed server distribution Skyopolis_Evolved-7.0_server_pack.zip
Release date shown for 7.0 August 11, 2026
Project owner shown on the listing benbenlaw
Approximate downloads shown on the 2026 CurseForge snapshot 160.6K; this is a download count, not a performance or player-capacity measurement

The pack includes recognizable technical mods such as EnderIO, Actually Additions, and Applied Energistics 2 (AE2). Those names indicate the kind of automation and storage progression you will encounter; they do not change the required Minecraft version or replace the pack’s quest book as the progression guide.

Which Skyopolis Evolved file should you download?

The client and server files are separate distributions. Select the file based on what you are trying to do, not merely on the version number in the filename.

Your goal Use this Why
Play on your own computer through a launcher CurseForge app installation of the Skyopolis: Evolved project, or the listed client archive Skyopolis_Evolved-7.0.zip The client needs the modpack files arranged for a Minecraft installation and launcher profile.
Run a dedicated multiplayer world Skyopolis_Evolved-7.0_server_pack.zip The server archive is the distribution published for server-side files and setup.
Join someone else’s server The same client release and loader used by that server Your client must match the server’s Minecraft, NeoForge, and modpack versions.

Both 7.0 archives are listed for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge. A server host should not unpack the client ZIP and assume it is interchangeable with the server pack; missing or differently arranged server files can prevent startup or produce a client/server mod mismatch.

Installing Skyopolis Evolved on a client

Use the CurseForge app

  1. Install and open the CurseForge app that supports Minecraft modpacks.
  2. Open the Minecraft section and search for Skyopolis: Evolved.
  3. Open the project owned by benbenlaw and confirm that the selected file is the 1.21.1 release using NeoForge.
  4. Choose the install action. Let the app create the modpack profile and download its dependencies instead of copying individual mods into an unrelated profile.
  5. When installation finishes, launch the new profile from the app. The first launch can take longer while NeoForge creates libraries, configuration files, and the game’s first world data.

CurseForge’s support material explains that a modloader is the component that lets Minecraft run mods. That is why a normal, unmodded 1.21.1 profile is not an equivalent substitute for the NeoForge profile created by the app.

Manual archive installation

If you are using a launcher that accepts imported modpack archives, import the listed client archive Skyopolis_Evolved-7.0.zip as a new instance. Select Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge when the launcher asks for the game and loader. Do not merge its contents into an existing instance that contains another Minecraft version or another loader; create a clean profile so that old mods and configuration files cannot interfere.

Check the profile before creating a world

  • The profile identifies Minecraft 1.21.1, not a similarly named 1.21 or older Skyopolis release.
  • The loader is NeoForge, not Forge or Fabric.
  • The mod list is populated by the launcher and does not show a failed download or disabled dependency.
  • The title screen or profile information identifies Skyopolis: Evolved rather than a vanilla installation.

Create a test world first. Because this is a sky-world pack, the initial terrain and quest presentation will not resemble a normal overworld. If the game opens to ordinary terrain with no pack-specific quests, stop and correct the profile rather than continuing in that world.

Setting up a dedicated Skyopolis Evolved server

The official files listing confirms the 7.0 server pack, but it does not publish a universal RAM amount, CPU model, Java version, or supported player count. Treat those items as deployment variables that must be checked against the current pack instructions and your host’s NeoForge documentation.

Before you begin

  • A machine or hosting account on which you can upload and extract a ZIP archive.
  • Support for Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge.
  • Permission to create files, run the supplied server launcher, and keep the process running.
  • A way to inspect the server console and configuration files.
  • A backup destination separate from the live world directory.
  • The ability to accept Minecraft’s EULA where the server requires it.

Do not choose Java solely from a guess based on an older Minecraft release. The reviewed Skyopolis pages do not state a Java-runtime requirement. Check the server pack’s included instructions and the current NeoForge requirements for the exact build before starting.

Step 1: Download the matching server pack

  1. Open the official Skyopolis: Evolved files listing.
  2. Select the 7.0 server archive named Skyopolis_Evolved-7.0_server_pack.zip.
  3. Confirm that the listing identifies Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge before downloading.
  4. Keep the archive unchanged until it has been uploaded to the server. Renaming individual files or copying only the mods folder can omit scripts, configuration, or loader files needed for startup.

Step 2: Create a clean server directory

  1. Create a new directory dedicated to this Skyopolis instance.
  2. Upload the server-pack ZIP into that directory.
  3. Extract the archive there, preserving its folder structure.
  4. Read any README, start script, installer note, or configuration comment included in the extracted files. The pack’s supplied instructions take precedence over generic NeoForge tutorials because launch filenames and installation steps can change between releases.

Step 3: Install or select the required NeoForge runtime

Use the NeoForge server runtime expected by the pack’s files. Some distributions include the needed installer or a generated launch setup; others expect the administrator to run the NeoForge installer first. Follow the instructions that came with the 7.0 server archive and verify that the resulting server reports Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge in its console. If the console reports a different loader, a different Minecraft version, or missing libraries, stop before making a world.

Step 4: Review startup and configuration files

  • Identify the supplied start script or launch instructions for your operating system.
  • Review memory or JVM arguments already present rather than replacing them with flags copied from another pack.
  • Check the server properties file for the port, online-mode setting, world name, and other choices you intend to use.
  • Leave pack-generated configuration files intact unless the included instructions tell you to edit them.

No authoritative Skyopolis page reviewed for this guide gives a universal memory allocation, processor recommendation, or player limit, so there is no safe one-size-fits-all command to substitute for the supplied launcher.

Step 5: Accept the EULA and perform the first start

  1. Run the supplied server launcher once. It may stop after creating an EULA file and initial configuration.
  2. Open the generated EULA file and accept Minecraft’s terms only if you agree to them; where required, change the acceptance value as instructed by the server.
  3. Start the server again using the pack’s supplied script or command.
  4. Watch the console until it reports that the server is ready for connections. A window that closes immediately is not a successful startup; keep the console output for diagnosis.

Step 6: Test locally before opening it to others

  1. Join from a client using the same Skyopolis release, Minecraft version, and NeoForge loader.
  2. Confirm that the sky-world spawn, quest interface, custom blocks, and pack-specific content load correctly.
  3. Advance far enough to test a machine, storage system, and a save/restart cycle.
  4. Stop the server cleanly from its console and restart it, then verify that the world and quest progress persist.

A local test isolates pack problems from firewall, port-forwarding, DNS, and hosting issues. Only after that test succeeds should you give other players the address and port.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Step 7: Configure access and backups

If the server is at home, configure the network firewall and router only after the local test works. Expose the server port required by the server properties, restrict administrative access, and avoid sharing operating-system credentials. If you use managed hosting, use its network controls and console rather than editing files through an unrelated game profile.

Back up the complete world and the server configuration before changing mods, updating the pack, or editing quest-related files. A useful backup includes the world directory, server properties, pack configuration, scripts, and any permissions or whitelist files. Test restoring a copy; a backup that has never been restored is only an assumption.

Self-hosting or managed hosting?

The pack author publishes a dedicated server distribution, so either deployment model can work if the environment supports the exact files. The choice is operational rather than an endorsement of any particular provider.

Decision axis Self-hosting Managed hosting
Uploading the official server pack You control extraction and can preserve the archive’s structure. Confirm that the control panel permits custom ZIP upload and extraction; one-click vanilla installers are not enough.
Version and loader support You install and maintain Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge yourself. Verify explicit support for both Minecraft 1.21.1 and NeoForge, not merely “modded Minecraft.”
Console and file access Full operating-system and console access, subject to your permissions. Check for live console, file manager, SFTP or equivalent access, and the ability to edit the supplied configuration.
Backups and restore You design the schedule, storage, and restore tests. Check whether automated backups are included, how long they are retained, and whether a complete world restore is possible.
Latency Depends on your upload connection and the location of your machine. Choose a region geographically close to most players and verify the actual route from their networks.
Cost Uses hardware, electricity, storage, and your administration time. Recurring pricing varies by memory allocation, storage, location, backups, and support; compare the total plan cost rather than an introductory rate alone.

Before paying for a managed plan, ask support whether you can upload Skyopolis_Evolved-7.0_server_pack.zip, run its NeoForge setup, edit the required files, and access the console. If any answer is unclear, the service may be suitable for vanilla servers but unsuitable for this pack.

Hardware, Java, and player-count expectations

The reviewed official pages do not state minimum or recommended RAM, CPU, GPU, Java runtime, storage, or player-count figures. The approximately 160.6K downloads shown on CurseForge cannot be converted into a server capacity estimate, and a modpack’s download total says nothing about how many players a particular machine can host.

Use the following evidence-based process instead of copying a generic number:

  1. Verify the Java and NeoForge requirements for the exact 7.0 server files and current Minecraft 1.21.1 build.
  2. Start with a clean test world and the host’s default supported configuration.
  3. Invite the intended number of players gradually while watching console warnings, tick time, memory pressure, disk activity, and connection latency.
  4. Record the result during normal automation, storage use, exploration, and chunk generation. A quiet spawn test is not representative of a technical skyblock base.
  5. Increase resources or move to a stronger host only when measurements show a bottleneck. Keep the same pack and loader versions while comparing results.

Client GPU requirements are also not published in the reviewed pages. If a player’s client struggles, reduce visual settings or investigate client-side issues separately from server capacity; do not infer a server specification from a graphics setting.

Keeping client and server versions aligned

Every player should install the same release that the server is running. For a new 7.0 deployment, that means Minecraft 1.21.1, NeoForge, and the 7.0 client files. Do not update a client automatically while the server remains on an older release, and do not replace only one mod from the pack.

When updating

  1. Read the new release notes and confirm that a matching server pack exists.
  2. Make a complete backup of the world and configuration.
  3. Copy the existing server directory to a separate test directory.
  4. Apply the new server archive according to its instructions; do not overwrite the only working copy.
  5. Start the test server, check quests and machines, and verify that existing player inventories and world data load.
  6. Schedule the live update only after the test succeeds, and tell players which client release to install.

Keep the old server directory until the new version has been played successfully. Rolling back by mixing files from two releases can create a less recoverable state than restoring the untouched backup.

Troubleshooting common installation and server failures

Symptom Likely cause What to check
The launcher opens vanilla Minecraft or a normal overworld The wrong profile or loader was selected. Reopen the profile and confirm Skyopolis: Evolved, Minecraft 1.21.1, and NeoForge. Create a clean profile if another pack’s files were merged into it.
The client reports missing mods or a mod-list mismatch The client release differs from the server, or individual files were changed. Compare the complete release and loader on both sides. Reinstall the matching client profile instead of adding random replacement mods.
The server stops immediately NeoForge is not installed as expected, a required runtime is unavailable, or the launch script was not used. Read the first error in the console, verify the 1.21.1/NeoForge pairing, check the pack’s README and start files, and confirm the Java runtime required by the current instructions.
The server creates an EULA file and exits The EULA has not been accepted. Open the generated EULA file, review the terms, set the required acceptance value only if you agree, and start again.
Players cannot connect, but local joining works Firewall, router forwarding, address, or port configuration is wrong. Check the server port in server properties, the host firewall, router forwarding, and the address players are using. Test from outside the host’s local network.
Quests or custom content are missing The server was started from the wrong directory or with an incomplete archive. Stop the server, compare the extracted files with the official server archive, and restore a clean copy rather than copying only the mods folder.
The world loads but becomes slow during automation The host is reaching a CPU, memory, disk, or tick-time limit. Measure the console and host while reproducing the issue. Reduce unnecessary loaded areas, investigate the heaviest machines, and scale resources based on measurements; no official universal allocation is published.
A backup exists but cannot be used Only selected files were copied, or the restore was never tested. Restore the complete world and configuration into a separate test directory and verify that the server starts before relying on the backup.

Is there an official public Skyopolis Evolved server?

A 6.0 release note said that the official public-server address was removed from automatic insertion into the multiplayer menu. The current official pages reviewed for this guide do not publish a verified replacement address. Treat addresses copied from old videos, screenshots, or forum posts as unconfirmed.

If the project later announces a public server, use the current announcement or project page as the authority and verify that its Minecraft, NeoForge, and Skyopolis release match your client. Until then, the dependable multiplayer route is a private server running the published server pack.

Practical launch checklist

  • ☐ Minecraft Java Edition 1.21.1 is selected.
  • ☐ NeoForge is selected for both client and server.
  • ☐ The client uses the 7.0 release or the exact release named by the server administrator.
  • ☐ A dedicated server uses Skyopolis_Evolved-7.0_server_pack.zip, not the client archive.
  • ☐ The server’s supplied instructions and startup files have been reviewed.
  • ☐ The required Java runtime has been verified from current pack or NeoForge instructions rather than guessed.
  • ☐ The EULA has been accepted where required.
  • ☐ A local join test confirms the sky world, quests, machines, and save persistence.
  • ☐ Firewall, port, whitelist, and administrative access have been configured before inviting players.
  • ☐ Complete backups have been created and a restore has been tested.

For most readers, the safest path is straightforward: install Skyopolis: Evolved through the CurseForge app, keep the profile on Minecraft 1.21.1 with NeoForge, and use the separately listed 7.0 server pack for multiplayer. The official listing establishes the versions and files, but it does not establish universal hardware, Java, or player-count numbers, so those decisions must be validated against the current server instructions and measured on the machine you intend to use.
