SkyNet, an internet provider serving Saint Petersburg and nearby areas, said on 9 October 2026 that a DDoS attack against its network had been underway since 8:15 a.m. on 6 October. The provider warned that games, voice calls and video chats could be unstable. On 12 October, SecPost reported that Ukrainian hacktivist group BO Team claimed responsibility, but the group’s account—including its claim that more than 15,000 provider devices were disabled—has not been independently verified.
What happened to SkyNet internet?
In a notice dated 9 October, SkyNet said: “Since 8:15 on 6 October, our network has been under a DDoS attack.” The provider said it was working to repel the attack and address its consequences. A DDoS attack generally involves flooding a service or network with traffic in an attempt to disrupt access; SkyNet identified the incident as a DDoS attack but did not publish independently verifiable technical details about how it was carried out. SkyNet’s notice
SkyNet warned that services sensitive to latency could be unstable, naming online games, voice calls and video chats. Subscribers could experience lag, high ping, dropped connections, or interrupted audio and video. These symptoms are consistent with a network disruption, but the notice does not establish that every affected subscriber experienced each problem.
What problems did subscribers report?
RBC reported on 10 October that subscribers in Saint Petersburg had described prolonged internet interruptions, including loss of wired service, high latency and problems with fiber connections. The report said SkyNet had not announced a full restoration deadline at that time. These are contemporaneous reports from 10 October, not a current service-status update. RBC’s report
#1 Best Overall
- Dual-band Wi-Fi with 5 GHz speeds up to 867 Mbps and 2.4 GHz speeds up to 300 Mbps, delivering 1200 Mbps of total bandwidth¹. Dual-band routers do not support 6 GHz. Performance varies by conditions, distance to devices, and obstacles such as walls.
- Covers up to 1,000 sq. ft. with four external antennas for stable wireless connections and optimal coverage.
- Supports IGMP Proxy/Snooping, Bridge and Tag VLAN to optimize IPTV streaming
- Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
- Advanced Security with WPA3 - The latest Wi-Fi security protocol, WPA3, brings new capabilities to improve cybersecurity in personal networks
Who claimed responsibility, and what is verified?
SecPost reported on 12 October that Ukrainian hacktivist group BO Team claimed responsibility for the attack. The group also asserted that more than 15,000 devices belonging to the provider had been disabled. That number and the claimed impact are allegations attributed to BO Team; the available reporting does not independently confirm the count or establish that the devices were permanently disabled. SecPost’s report
The provider’s notice confirms SkyNet’s own characterization of a DDoS attack and gives its stated start time. It does not identify an attacker. The attribution to BO Team comes from the group’s claim as reported by SecPost, rather than independent verification.

- Dual band router upgrades to 1200 Mbps high speed internet (300mbps for 2.4GHz plus 900Mbps for 5GHz), reducing buffering and ideal for 4K stream
- Full Gigabit Ports - Gigabit Router with 4 Gigabit LAN ports, ideal for any internet plan and allow you to directly connect your wired devices
- Boosted Coverage - Four external antennas equipped with Beamforming technology extend and concentrate the Wi-Fi signals
- MU-MIMO technology - (5GHz band) allows high speeds for multiple devices simultaneously
- Access Point Mode - Supports AP Mode to transform your wired connection into wireless network, an ideal wireless router for home
Is SkyNet working in Saint Petersburg now?
The cited reports do not establish whether the outage has since ended. SkyNet’s notice is dated 9 October, and RBC’s account reflects the situation reported on 10 October; neither should be treated as a live status report. Subscribers seeking current information should check SkyNet’s official status notices or customer-service channels for a newer update.
What should SkyNet subscribers do during the disruption?
- Check SkyNet’s latest official updates before troubleshooting local equipment. The reported cause was a disruption to the provider’s network, not a confirmed problem with individual home routers or Wi-Fi.
- If possible, compare the connection on more than one device and check whether the issue affects wired service as well as Wi-Fi. This can help identify whether symptoms are confined to one device or local wireless connection, though it cannot resolve an upstream provider outage.
- Avoid assuming that replacing a router, cable or other home equipment will restore service during a provider-network attack. The cited reports do not show that changing subscriber equipment would fix this incident.
- When contacting support, describe when the interruption started and whether the problem is a total loss of connection, high latency, or dropped voice/video. These details help distinguish the symptom without presuming a specific technical cause at the subscriber’s home.
When will SkyNet service return?
No final recovery time is established by the cited reports. RBC said on 10 October that SkyNet had not specified a full restoration deadline. The available sources also do not independently confirm the attack’s technical method beyond the provider’s DDoS description, its final duration, or the scale of impact claimed by BO Team.
