If your Skullcandy Crusher 720 is not charging, start with the USB-C cable, power source, plug seating and charging port. Use a known-good USB-C-to-USB-C cable and USB-C power source, insert the connector fully, clear only visible debris, then leave it connected for several seconds. The LED should pulse amber from 0–40%, pulse white from 41–90% and stay solid white from 91–100%. A complete 1%–100% charge takes approximately two hours.
The six-second Joystick Center Button reset is for Bluetooth pairing and connection problems, not a documented fix for a battery or charging fault. If the headset still shows no charging response after the external checks below, contact Skullcandy customer service and ask about its one-year limited warranty.
What the Crusher 720 charging lights mean
Use the LED before trying more invasive troubleshooting. The indicator reports the approximate battery range while the headset is connected to power:

A light that appears only after a short delay does not necessarily indicate a failure. Skullcandy’s Crusher troubleshooting guidance says charging can take a few seconds to begin, so wait briefly after connecting the cable before concluding that the headset is not responding.

Skullcandy specifies approximately two hours for a full charge from 1% to 100%. Its Rapid Charge specification says a 10-minute charge provides more than four hours of playback, although actual use time varies with volume, features and battery condition. The stated maximum battery life for the Crusher 720 is up to 65 hours under the manufacturer’s test conditions.
Step 1: Check the cable and power source
The Crusher 720 charges through USB-C. Skullcandy says standard USB-C chargers and cables are compatible, and the headset includes a USB-C-to-USB-C cable. Begin with the simplest possible setup rather than assuming the headset itself has failed.
- Disconnect the cable from the headset and power source.
- Use a known-good USB-C-to-USB-C cable. If the included cable is damaged, loose or intermittently connected, use another cable that you already know charges a USB-C device.
- Connect the cable to a working USB-C power source. A standard USB-C charger is the documented compatible type.
- Connect the other end to the Crusher 720 and wait several seconds for the LED to respond.
- If the LED begins pulsing amber or white, leave the headset connected and proceed to the full-charge check.
Do not treat a phone’s charging behavior as proof that every cable or port is good. A cable can work in one device while its plug, contacts or fit are unreliable in another. Testing with a second known-good USB-C cable isolates that variable without opening the headset.

Step 2: Seat the USB-C plug fully
A connector that is only partly inserted can provide no charging response or an intermittent one. Skullcandy’s Crusher guidance says the connector should be flush and securely inserted.
- Place the headset on a stable, flat surface so the cable is not pulling the ear cup sideways.
- Align the USB-C plug with the charging port and insert it straight.
- Push until the plug is fully seated and sits flush with the port.
- Keep the headset still while the first charging indication appears.
Avoid twisting the plug, levering it upward or charging while the cable is under tension. Those actions can make an intermittent connection harder to diagnose and may stress the port.
Step 3: Inspect and safely clear the charging port
Blocked-port debris is one of the causes Skullcandy lists for Crusher charging problems. Inspect the USB-C port in good light. Look for lint, dust or other material that prevents the plug from reaching a full, flush position.

- Disconnect the charger before inspecting or cleaning.
- Remove only debris that is visibly loose and can be cleared without force.
- Do not push a sharp object deep into the port or scrape the internal contacts.
- Do not pour liquid into the port or use a wet tool.
- Reconnect the cable only after the port and plug are dry and unobstructed.
If the plug still cannot sit flush after a careful visual check, stop rather than forcing it. A damaged or obstructed port needs service, not greater insertion pressure.

Step 4: Allow for the charging-start delay
After the cable is connected correctly, leave it in place for a few seconds. Skullcandy notes that charging can take a short time to begin. During this interval, avoid repeatedly unplugging and reconnecting the cable because that resets the observation each time.

- Amber pulsing: the battery is in the 0–40% range.
- White pulsing: the battery is in the 41–90% range.
- Solid white: the battery is in the 91–100% range.
If there is no light after the delay, continue with the known-good cable, power-source and connector checks before attempting a reset. The reset does not replace these charging checks.
Step 5: Give the battery enough time to reach full charge
Do not judge the result after only a few minutes. Skullcandy’s stated full-charge time is approximately two hours from 1% to 100%. Leave the Crusher 720 connected for about that long, with the plug fully seated and the headset resting on a stable surface.
Use the LED to determine whether the charge is progressing. A change from amber pulsing to white pulsing indicates movement into the next stated battery range. Solid white indicates 91–100%. If the indicator remains in one state for an unusually long period, note the elapsed time, cable and power source you used; those details will help customer service assess the fault.

The Rapid Charge figure is a short-session specification, not a replacement for a full charge. Skullcandy states that 10 minutes of charging delivers more than four hours of playback. It does not mean the headset will reach a particular percentage in 10 minutes, and playback time depends on how the headset is used.

When—and when not—to reset the Crusher 720
The Crusher 720 reset clears Bluetooth pairings. Skullcandy documents it for pairing or connection problems, not as a battery-repair procedure. Use it when the headset powers on but a phone or other Bluetooth device cannot connect, or when pairing information appears corrupted. It is not the next step for a headset that has no charging light.
Documented Bluetooth reset procedure
- Open the phone or other source device’s Bluetooth settings and remove or forget the Crusher 720.
- Turn Bluetooth off on that source device.
- Power on the Crusher 720.
- Press and hold the Joystick Center Button for six seconds.
- Wait for alternating blue and amber flashes, which indicate the reset sequence.
- Turn Bluetooth back on, search for the headset and pair it again.
Because this procedure clears saved pairings, you will need to reconnect the headset to devices afterward. If the headset has no power or no charging response, return to the cable, port and power-source checks instead of repeating the reset.
What not to do
- Do not force the USB-C plug. A plug that will not sit flush may indicate debris or port damage.
- Do not insert metal tools or sharp objects into the port. The documented guidance calls for checking and safely clearing visible debris, not probing the contacts.
- Do not open the ear cup as a first-line fix. The cited Crusher material does not document opening the headset or replacing its internal battery.
- Do not confuse a pairing reset with a charging repair. The six-second button hold addresses Bluetooth records.
- Do not stop a full-charge test too early. The stated 1%–100% time is approximately two hours.
When to contact Skullcandy support
Contact Skullcandy customer service after you have tested a known-good USB-C-to-USB-C cable and USB-C power source, seated the connector flush, checked for safely removable port debris, waited for the charging-start delay and allowed approximately two hours for a full charge. Tell support exactly what happened: whether any LED appeared, which color and pattern it showed, how long the headset was connected, which cable and power source you used, and whether the headset powers on.
Skullcandy recommends contacting customer service before filing a warranty claim. The listed warranty is one year limited, so retain purchase information and follow the current support instructions to determine whether your unit is eligible. A warranty decision, repair, or replacement is not guaranteed by the troubleshooting steps; Skullcandy determines eligibility under its warranty terms.
