The Skullcandy Crusher 1080 ANC is worth considering if you want bass you can feel as well as hear. Its adjustable haptic bass is the main attraction; effective everyday noise cancelling, long battery life and wired options round out the package. But it is heavy and bulky, bass depends on a good earcup seal, and its noise cancelling is less effective against the deepest train and plane rumble. It is not a safe blind buy if you prefer neutral sound, need a light all-day headset or expect strong low-frequency isolation.
What makes the Crusher 1080 ANC different?
A wheel on an earcup adjusts Crusher Bass, a haptic effect that makes low frequencies feel more physical. Skullcandy also provides bass-intensity and EQ controls in its app. The result is a headphone for listeners who want a pronounced, adjustable bass sensation—not a straightforward recommendation for neutral or reference listening.
Skullcandy calls the feature its “patented, original immersive multi-sensory bass experience.” That is the manufacturer’s description. In practice, the bass effect is the defining reason to choose this model over a conventional noise-cancelling headphone. Reviewer Christian Thomas of SoundGuys described it as a “decent set of noise cancelers” with a feature that lets users feel rather than only hear bass; his review was published in July 2026 (SoundGuys review).

RTINGS describes the tuning as very bass-heavy: it adds thump and punch, which may suit techno and other bass-forward music, but can make some midrange instruments sound boomy. RTINGS found the rest of the midrange mostly accurate, with a slight treble boost that adds percussion clarity. SoundGuys’ lab measurements also show emphasized bass; those measurements describe that outlet’s tests, not how every listener will perceive the headphones.

The physical Crusher wheel has 120° of rotation, according to Skullcandy’s support guide, and can also be adjusted in the app. The guide lists Music, Podcast and Movie presets plus a custom five-band EQ. Skullcandy says Podcast reduces bass and clarifies the human-voice range, while Movie adds a slight boost from 2 kHz to 6 kHz; these are manufacturer descriptions of the presets, not independent findings (Skullcandy support guide).
Will the fit suit you?
Fit is especially important because the low bass changes with the seal around your ears. RTINGS found that glasses can break the seal and reduce the bass thump. If possible, try the headphones on with your usual glasses, or buy from a seller whose return terms give you time to assess the fit.
The thick padding and firm clamp help hold the cups in place, but the 374.2 g listed by Skullcandy makes this a comparatively heavy over-ear headphone. RTINGS reports that the weight can become tiring during long sessions; the bulky cups may also shift during running or intense movement, and smaller earcups may rub larger ears. This is a better match for stationary listening, commuting or desk work than strenuous workouts. RTINGS tested a True Black unit and lists True Black, Candy (pink), Primer (brown-beige) and Cement (light gray) as color options (RTINGS review).

How well does the ANC work?
RTINGS found that the Crusher 1080 ANC reduces much everyday noise and nearby conversation, making it useful in offices and for travel. It is less effective against the deepest engine rumble from trains and planes, so do not choose it solely for maximum low-frequency isolation. SoundGuys gave its noise cancelling an 8.1/10 under its own scoring method; that rating is not directly comparable to RTINGS’ assessments.
RTINGS also reports little sound leakage at high playback volume. The trade-off for travel or a full workday is the headphone’s weight, which may tire some wearers over long stretches.
Are the microphone and wired connections useful?
For calls, RTINGS found speech understandable in moderate office or café noise. A subway train can overwhelm the microphone, so this is not the best choice for calls in very loud surroundings.

Bluetooth latency is too high for timing-dependent wireless gaming, even with low-latency mode enabled, according to RTINGS. Wired connections are a better option: its test reports 10.8 ms over analog and 18 ms over USB-C, with audio and microphone signal available on those connections while the headphones are powered on. Passive analog use carries audio only and disables the microphone.
The included USB-C-to-USB-C cable is for charging, not audio. For wired USB-C audio, RTINGS says you need to supply a compatible USB-C audio cable. The headphones also include a 3.5 mm AUX cable, roll-top travel bag and user guide, according to Skullcandy’s product page (Skullcandy product page).
What battery life should you expect?
Skullcandy claims up to 60 hours with ANC off or 50 hours with ANC on, and says a 10-minute charge provides four hours of playtime. Its support guide says a full charge takes about 45 minutes and notes that real-world life varies with volume, Crusher Bass, TrueSpatial and other feature use. These are company claims, not guaranteed runtimes. Separately, RTINGS measured 62.5 hours with ANC enabled in its test. That result is a reviewer test, not a promise for every listening pattern.

Does the app work with your phone?
Skullcandy’s support documentation says its mobile app supports iOS and Android phones, but not PC, iPad or MacBook. The guide also documents multipoint pairing with two devices, firmware updates and resetting pairing. It lists Bluetooth 5.3, LE Audio and Auracast support. Because app behavior and firmware can change, consult the current instructions in Skullcandy’s support guide.
For an iPhone user, the documented iOS app support means an iPhone can use the app, but available information does not establish USB-C audio compatibility for any particular iPhone model. Do not infer audio support from the included charging cable: RTINGS says that cable does not carry audio. If you need wired USB-C playback, confirm that a compatible cable works with your exact phone and headphone setup.

How does it compare with alternatives?
The best alternative depends on whether tactile bass, isolation, comfort or conventional versatility matters most. RTINGS’ comparisons point to these distinctions:
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
| Model | What it may suit better | Why choose the Crusher instead |
|---|---|---|
| Sony ULT WEAR | Lighter, more stable wear, three bass levels and more consistent bass across fit; RTINGS says it blocks slightly more everyday noise. | Continuous tactile bass adjustment and longer battery life, with more versatile wired use. |
| Anker Soundcore Space Q45 | Better reduction of low engine rumble and a microphone that keeps speech clearer in noisier settings. | A listener who prioritizes tactile bass and longer battery life. |
| JBL Live 780NC | A lighter, more versatile option with stronger noise isolation and LDAC. | The adjustable haptic-bass wheel. |
| Skullcandy Crusher Evo | Potentially lower cost and weight, according to RTINGS’ comparison. | The 1080 ANC adds ANC, multipoint, five-band app EQ, wear detection and USB-C audio. |
These comparisons do not establish which model costs less today. Prices vary by seller, color and date.
What does it cost, and is it a blind-buy choice?
There is no reliable current price established here. Skullcandy’s US product page showed inconsistent price and stock information in the captured rendering, while What Hi-Fi?’s July 2026 launch report listed launch-market prices of £220, $280 and AU$400. Those launch figures are historical context, not verified current offers. Check the price, color, stock and seller immediately before buying (What Hi-Fi? launch report).
For an iPhone user, the app’s documented iOS support removes one compatibility concern, but it does not resolve wired USB-C audio support for a specific iPhone. The more important blind-buy question is sound and fit: will you enjoy an unusually strong, adjustable physical bass effect, and will the weight and earcup seal work for you? If you are unsure, trying it on or choosing a seller with a suitable return policy is prudent.

Choose the Crusher 1080 ANC if adjustable, tactile bass is a feature you actively want, you value long battery life, and you are comfortable with a heavy headphone whose low-bass effect depends on fit. Look elsewhere if you want neutral sound, a light headset for long sessions, a stable workout fit, the strongest reduction of deep transport rumble or a microphone for very noisy calls.
