Choose Skateboard Knight for quick, lane-based combat and random upgrade decisions; choose Sea Sniffers for underwater exploration, fishing, quests, and collection. The games share a casual action-RPG label, but their demonstrated play styles are quite different. An October 10, 2026 hands-on preview at Tokyo Game Show described Skateboard Knight as an action-roguelite-style experience and Sea Sniffers as a fishing-focused side-scrolling action RPG. Those are preview impressions, not verdicts based on either complete game.
The clearest way to choose is to ask which activity you want to repeat. In Skateboard Knight, you shift between three lanes, let the knight automatically slash enemies in the same lane, collect drops, and pick one of three random buffs when leveling up. In Sea Sniffers, you take requests on land, send a seal into the sea to look for fish, then return to deliver items and buy upgrades. Neither loop is simply a different skin on the other: one puts combat decisions first, while the other ties exploration and collection to quests.
The comparison below sticks to mechanics seen in the demos and to availability details reported in October 2026. It does not try to predict final prices, full-game length, difficulty, or value. Those details were not established in the preview.
How the two games differ
| Decision | Skateboard Knight | Sea Sniffers |
|---|---|---|
| What you do most | Shift between three horizontal lanes as the knight automatically attacks enemies in the same lane. | Send a seal through underwater areas, explore, and use a net to catch fish. |
| How progress works | Collect money and experience from defeated enemies, choose one of three random buffs when leveling up, and work through waves toward a boss. | Take NPC quests, catch requested fish, register new catches in a collection dex, turn in items, buy upgrades, and unlock more areas. |
| Demo status reported in October 2026 | A public Steam demo was reported as playable through Chapter 4. | No public demo was reported. |
| Platforms and timing listed in the preview | PC, iOS, and Android; planned for 2027. | PC via Steam; planned for 2027. |
The demo and platform details are dated plans and status reports, not guarantees of current availability or final launch arrangements. The preview did not provide firm release dates.

The table also shows why the shared genre label is only a starting point. Skateboard Knight’s progression is built around combat runs: enemies arrive in waves, defeated enemies leave rewards, and level-ups offer a limited set of choices. Sea Sniffers links different activities together: an NPC gives you a reason to go out, exploration produces catches and quest items, and returning lets you hand those items in and purchase upgrades. The second game has some combat, but its reported structure puts fishing, exploration, and collection at the center.
What playing Skateboard Knight involves
In the demo described by RPG Site contributor Kite Stenbuck, the knight rides along three horizontal lanes and can move up or down between them. Attacks happen automatically when enemies approach in the knight’s lane. The main immediate decision is therefore positioning: choose a lane to meet enemies, then move when the threat or the dropped rewards make another lane more useful.
That setup gives the player a different role from a game built around aiming every strike. In the observed demo, the knight’s attack is automatic, so the visible choice is where to be rather than when to press an attack button. You still have to pay attention to what is approaching and which lane is relevant, but the preview does not describe manual attack inputs, a targeting system, or a separate weapon-selection process. Those details should not be assumed from the footage or the broad RPG label.

Defeated enemies leave money and experience on their lane. That makes movement relevant not only to combat but also to collecting what enemies drop. If rewards remain on the lane where an enemy fell, then a player may have a reason to move back or hold position rather than immediately chase the next enemy. This is a direct consequence of the reported drop placement, although the preview does not explain how long drops remain available or whether collection has any additional rules.
Level-ups add roguelite choices
When the knight levels up, the player chooses one of three random buffs. The preview observed both stat increases and bonus skills, including additional elemental attacks. Because the options are random and only one can be taken at each level-up, players have to make choices from the offers that appear rather than follow a guaranteed upgrade path.
That is the key tactical contrast with a fixed progression tree: the previewed decision is made from three presented options at a particular level-up, and the player selects one. A stat increase and an added skill do not necessarily solve the same problem, so the choice can shape how the current sequence of waves feels. The available details do not say how many buffs can be carried at once, whether offers can repeat, or whether a particular combination is required to beat a boss. Treat the random selection as a demonstrated feature, not as evidence of a known optimal build.
For a player who enjoys adapting to the options in front of them, this structure may be appealing. Someone who prefers to plan a precise upgrade path in advance may want to wait for more information about how much control the full game offers. The preview establishes three random choices at level-up; it does not establish whether that system is the only form of character development in the finished release.

The demo’s stages build through enemy waves that increase in number before a stage boss. Defeating the boss allows progression to another area. That creates a clear short-run structure: handle increasingly crowded lanes, collect useful drops, shape the build with offered buffs, then face the stage’s boss. The preview does not establish how many areas or bosses the full release will contain.
In practical terms, the loop has a repeated combat question: where should the knight be next? Staying in one lane can line up automatic attacks and may make drops easier to collect there; moving between lanes can change which enemies the knight meets. The source does not provide enough detail to say how fast lane changes are, how much damage enemies deal, or how forgiving the timing is. As a result, the game can be described as positioning-led without making unsupported claims about its difficulty or precision demands.

The reported demo running through Chapter 4 gives interested players a way to try this loop themselves, as long as that demo remains available. It does not reveal the final game’s total chapter count, campaign length, or whether every chapter follows the same pattern. A stage boss and progression to another area were seen in the preview, but the completed structure remains unknown.
Best fit: Skateboard Knight is the more natural choice if you want a compact combat loop, automatic attacks shaped by positioning, and changing upgrade choices from run to run. That recommendation follows from the demo’s described mechanics; it is not a claim about its final difficulty or overall quality.
What playing Sea Sniffers involves
Sea Sniffers begins on land, where the player talks to NPCs and receives objectives such as catching particular fish. The player then sends a seal into the sea to explore and fish. In the Tokyo Game Show demo, the seal’s underwater reach was limited by the reel’s current maximum length, and catching fish involved using a net.
This gives the game a staged outing rather than a continuous combat run. First, you learn what someone is asking for on land. Next, you explore underwater, trying to find catches that can fill requests or add to the collection. Finally, you call the seal back, deliver quest items, receive rewards, and buy upgrades. That sequence is important if you are deciding whether the game sounds appealing: the reported objective is not only to catch whatever appears, but to connect a trip to requests, discoveries, and later improvements.
Explore, catch, and complete requests
The preview writer reported that rarer fish took more effort to catch and that some catches involved combat. This suggests that fishing is not presented only as a passive collection activity: encounters can add action to the attempt. The preview does not give detailed controls, combat rules, or a complete account of how rarity affects catching, so those specifics should not be assumed.
New fish enter a collection dex. After an exploration session, the player can call the seal back, deliver quest items, receive rewards, and purchase upgrades. The described loop links exploration to land-based tasks: quests give a reason to seek particular catches, while returns to land let the player turn discoveries into rewards and improvements.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →There are therefore two kinds of progress visible in the preview. One is task progress: obtaining the fish or items requested by NPCs and bringing them back. The other is collection progress: adding new fish to the dex. A player can be interested in the second even when a particular catch is not currently the stated quest objective, but the preview does not explain whether every fish is needed for a quest or how the dex affects rewards. It confirms the collection element, not a complete reward formula.
Some catches involving combat may make the act of fishing more active than the word suggests. Still, the evidence does not show how often those encounters happen, what the combat looks like in detail, or whether every rare fish requires a fight. The fair comparison is that Sea Sniffers includes some combat within a fishing-and-exploration loop, whereas Skateboard Knight’s demonstrated loop is organized around enemy waves and bosses.
What is and is not confirmed about upgrades
The preview writer played only the beginning of the Tokyo Game Show demo. They inferred that the reel’s maximum length could be upgraded, but described that as an assumption rather than a confirmed mechanic. The preview does report that players can buy upgrades and gradually unlock more areas; it does not establish the full upgrade list, the exact requirements for area unlocks, or how much freedom players have to choose where to explore.

- 【Plug and play】: This mouse and keyboard pad is powered by USB, plug and play, no driver required. One button control light modes. Press one time to change the lighting mode, press twice to change the brightness, press and hold about 3 seconds turn ON/OFF.
That distinction matters because the reel’s current maximum length was a boundary on the seal’s reach during the demo, but it is not safe to turn that observation into a firm promise about how the final progression system works. Upgrades exist in the demonstrated loop, and new areas are gradually unlocked. Whether the reel itself is upgradeable, what an upgrade costs, or which requirements unlock a particular area were not confirmed in the preview.
For a player drawn to a steady cycle of requests, trips, returns, and improvements, the loop sounds more suitable than a wave-based action game. But the preview cannot tell us how many trips are needed to unlock new areas, how large the underwater spaces are, or how long a typical outing lasts. The writer’s hands-on time covered only the beginning, so late-game variety and the full pace of progression are open questions.
Best fit: Sea Sniffers is the more natural choice if you prefer setting out to explore, filling a collection, meeting NPC requests, and returning with items to improve your options. That is a preference-based recommendation from the previewed loop, not a judgment about unplayed late-game content.
Which one should you choose?
- Pick Skateboard Knight if moving between lanes, reacting to enemy waves, collecting drops, and choosing from random level-up buffs sounds appealing. Its demonstrated focus is combat, with bosses marking progress through areas.
- Pick Sea Sniffers if you would rather explore underwater spaces, catch different fish, complete requests, and build toward additional areas through upgrades. Its demonstrated loop gives collection and quest completion a central role.
- Wait for more information if you need to compare full-game length, difficulty, accessibility, final monetization, or price. The October preview does not establish those details for either game.
There is no evidence here for an overall winner. The useful distinction is the activity you want to repeat: lane combat and build choices in Skateboard Knight, or exploration and fishing-led progression in Sea Sniffers.
Choose by the kind of decision you enjoy
One useful test is whether you want to make a succession of short positioning and build decisions, or whether you want an outing that connects an objective to exploration and a return. In Skateboard Knight, the reported choices happen while waves are underway: move between lanes, collect money and experience, then pick one of three buffs when leveling up. In Sea Sniffers, the reported choices are tied to a trip: start with an NPC objective, explore within the seal’s current range, catch fish, and return to turn in items and buy upgrades.
Neither description proves that one game is more relaxing, harder, longer, or more accessible. Those are common follow-up questions, but the preview does not measure them. The comparison can support a recommendation based on the loops, not a universal judgment about which is better or better value.
Choose by how much you want to know before trying
Demo access also affects the decision. In the October 10 preview, Skateboard Knight had a public Steam demo reportedly playable through Chapter 4. That gives PC players a reported opportunity to sample more than a single opening section, though the report does not guarantee that the demo is still live or unchanged. Sea Sniffers had no public demo at that time, and the hands-on impressions came from only the beginning of its TGS demo.
If trying a demo before committing is important to you, the dated reports favor Skateboard Knight for now. That is a statement about reported access, not a promise about what is available today. Check the current game listings before planning around a demo; a past demo report is not proof that the download remains accessible in every region or at all times.
Demo access, platforms, and release timing
As of the October 10, 2026 preview, Skateboard Knight had a public Steam demo that reached Chapter 4, while Sea Sniffers had no public demo. PLAYISM’s official site separately listed an October 8, 2026 announcement for a Skateboard Knight demo. The preview identified the demo as available on Steam; the announcement supports the dated demo news but does not, by itself, establish that access remains unchanged.

The two reports answer slightly different questions. Kite Stenbuck’s RPG Site preview describes the hands-on demo and reports that Skateboard Knight’s newer public Steam build was playable through Chapter 4. PLAYISM’s official website lists an October 8 announcement for demos including Skateboard Knight. Together, they support the claim that a demo release was announced and that public Steam access was reported in October 2026. They do not establish the current store page status, whether the demo has been updated since, or whether a future build will differ.
The same preview listed both games for 2027, but with different platform plans: Skateboard Knight for PC, iOS, and Android, and Sea Sniffers for PC through Steam. It supplied no firm launch dates. These are plans reported in October 2026, so check the games’ current official listings before relying on them for a purchase or platform decision.
Platform fit is a meaningful difference for anyone who wants to play on a phone: the preview listed mobile plans for Skateboard Knight, but only a PC Steam plan for Sea Sniffers. That is not a statement about final device requirements or whether the games will receive additional platforms later. The preview gives no minimum PC specifications, mobile device compatibility list, controller requirements, or regional availability details.
Neither game had a firm date in the report, only a 2027 plan. A year-only window cannot tell you which will launch first, whether either will meet that window, or when preorders might open. The careful approach is to treat the listed year and platform targets as announcements rather than a commitment to a particular day or a complete launch plan.
What the early preview cannot tell you
The comparison is based on a short hands-on look at demos at Tokyo Game Show 2026, not reviews of finished games. The previewer tried the beginning of Sea Sniffers and described a 15-minute playthrough in the context of that demo session; that is not a measure of the game’s intended length. Skateboard Knight’s reported Chapter 4 demo access likewise does not establish how long the full game will be.
A brief event demo can show the shape of a loop, but it cannot answer every buying question. For Skateboard Knight, the preview establishes automatic same-lane slashes, three-lane movement, dropped money and experience, random three-choice buffs, waves, bosses, and progression to another area. It does not establish whether later chapters add mechanics, how much content the release will contain, or whether the upgrade options are balanced. For Sea Sniffers, it establishes land-based quests, seal-led underwater exploration, net fishing, a collection dex, some combat catches, returns to deliver items, purchases, and gradual area unlocks. It does not establish the full map, late-game systems, or the number of available fish.
- Price and monetization: not established for either full release. The reported platforms and demo access do not tell readers whether either game will be premium, free-to-play, or use any other payment model.
- Accessibility features: not established in the preview. No conclusions about control options, text settings, visual options, or other accessibility support should be drawn from the described mechanics.
- Full-game content and length: not established. A Chapter 4 demo report and a short opening session do not reveal the total chapter count, campaign length, or replay value.
- Comparative difficulty: not established; the preview does not provide a tested head-to-head difficulty assessment. More enemies in later waves and rarer fish taking more effort are observations, not a rating or a complete account of challenge.
- Final release dates and platform availability: not established beyond the reported 2027 plans. The preview gives no launch day, final system requirements, or complete platform list.
These gaps are not a reason to dismiss either game. They simply define what this comparison can honestly answer: which demonstrated loop better matches your interests, and what availability details were reported at the time. For price, content, final device support, and other practical requirements, wait for current official listings or fuller reviews.
Bottom line: choose the loop, not the label
Skateboard Knight is the straightforward recommendation for someone who wants lane-based action, automatic attacks shaped by positioning, waves, bosses, and a choice among random buffs. Sea Sniffers is the better match for someone who wants to pursue fish, fulfill requests, build a collection, and use returns to land as part of gradual progression.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:

Both were planned for 2027, with Skateboard Knight listed for PC, iOS, and Android and Sea Sniffers for PC via Steam. Those are dated plans, not current guarantees. If those platform or demo details decide the question for you, verify them on the games’ current official listings.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which game is more focused on combat?
Skateboard Knight’s demonstrated loop centers on combat: the knight moves between three lanes, automatically slashes enemies in the same lane, collects drops, and works through waves toward bosses. Sea Sniffers includes some combat catches, but its previewed loop emphasizes exploration, fishing, quests, and collection.
Does Skateboard Knight have a demo?
RPG Site’s October 10, 2026 hands-on preview reported a public Steam demo playable through Chapter 4. PLAYISM’s official site listed a Skateboard Knight demo announcement on October 8, 2026. These are dated reports; check the current official listing to confirm present access.

Can I try Sea Sniffers before release?
The October 10, 2026 preview reported that Sea Sniffers had no public demo at that time. The writer played the beginning of its Tokyo Game Show demo. Availability can change, so check the current Steam listing for updates.
When are Skateboard Knight and Sea Sniffers coming out, and what platforms are planned?
The preview listed both for 2027 without firm launch dates. Skateboard Knight was listed for PC, iOS, and Android; Sea Sniffers was listed for PC via Steam. Treat these as plans reported in October 2026, not guaranteed final release details.
Which game is cheaper, longer, or easier?
The preview did not establish prices, monetization, full-game length, or comparative difficulty for either title. A demo reaching Chapter 4 does not tell us Skateboard Knight’s total length, and a short opening session does not establish Sea Sniffers’ campaign size.
What are the main gameplay differences?
Skateboard Knight uses three-lane positioning, automatic same-lane attacks, enemy drops, random level-up buffs, waves, and bosses. Sea Sniffers has NPC quests on land, seal-led underwater exploration, net fishing, a fish collection dex, item turn-ins, upgrades, and gradual area unlocks.
The Bottom Line
Choose Skateboard Knight for lane-based combat and random roguelite upgrade choices; choose Sea Sniffers for fishing-led exploration, quests, and collection. October 2026 reporting listed a Skateboard Knight Steam demo through Chapter 4, no public Sea Sniffers demo, and 2027 plans for both games. Verify current official listings for availability and launch details; price, length, difficulty, and final platform support were not established.
