The Sirius SL906DL520 is a 520mm undermount rangehood with one onboard motor, four settings and a manufacturer-rated airflow of 1020m³/h. It may suit a cooktop listed by Sirius as 300–600mm wide, but the hood’s width alone does not confirm coverage: check the cooktop’s depth, cabinetry and duct route before buying. Its published specifications look feature-rich; the public evidence available does not establish its independent extraction or noise performance.
What the Sirius SL906DL520 is
Sirius identifies the SL906DL520 as the 520mm Kiara Undermount Rangehood with Single Onboard Motor. It is designed to be concealed beneath cabinetry. Do not confuse it with larger Kiara models that use twin or triple motors; the specification index lists these as separate configurations.
The specifications below are published by Sirius, not independent measurements. CHOICE’s public listing confirms the exact model and ducted test mode, but does not expose its detailed test scores.

Will a 520mm rangehood cover your cooktop?
Sirius lists the SL906DL520 for cooktop sizes from 300mm to 600mm wide. That is a manufacturer’s compatibility range, not a guarantee of complete capture for every cooktop or cooking style. The hood is 520mm wide, so a cooktop wider than the hood extends beyond its width; even when the cooktop falls within Sirius’s listed range, depth, burner position and installation all matter.
- Measure the cooktop’s width and depth, then compare them with the hood’s published 520 × 290mm footprint.
- Check the hood body and required clearances against the cabinet’s internal space and the installation guide before cutting or modifying cabinetry.
- Consider where the burners sit and whether the hood will be centred over them.
The dimensions and cooktop range are from Sirius’s product listing. Verify the current appliance and installation guide with the seller or installer before making irreversible cabinet changes.

How high should you install it?
Sirius’s Kiara manual, dated September 2025, specifies clearance measured from the top of the cooktop trivets to the underside of the hood:
| Cooktop type | Manual’s clearance range |
|---|---|
| Induction or electric | 600–700mm |
| Gas | 650–750mm |
The manual warns that installing above the maximum clearance may affect performance and warranty. Follow the applicable local requirements and have the installer assess the site; the manual’s figures are not a substitute for either. See the September 2025 Sirius Kiara user manual.

Does it need 150mm ducting?
Yes. Sirius specifies a 150mm duct diameter for the SL906DL520. That is the stated connection size, not proof that a particular kitchen can accommodate a suitable route. Before purchase, have the installer check the cabinet space, duct path, bends and external termination against the manual and the actual site. The available specifications do not support recommending a smaller duct or predicting the noise or extraction result of a modified route.
Is the Sirius SL906DL520 quiet?
The public information reviewed does not establish whether it is quiet. CHOICE lists the exact model, but its detailed noise score and other test results are member-only. Sirius’s advertised airflow figure is not a noise measurement, so it cannot answer this question. If sound level is decisive, seek the full independent test information or ask the retailer for verifiable noise data for this exact model rather than inferring performance from its specifications.

CHOICE’s public listing displays a price of $1,629, but that page information is not a guarantee of current retailer pricing; its public page had no retailer links loaded when accessed in 2026. The listing does not make the detailed test scores available. See CHOICE’s SL906DL520 listing.
What do the published performance and care claims establish?
Sirius advertises 1020m³/h airflow and says the baffle filter captures cooking grease and can be cleaned in a dishwasher. It also describes the lighting as adjustable and dimmable across 2700K to 6500K. These are manufacturer claims; the available material does not provide independent measurements of airflow, grease capture or lighting performance.

Quick Recap
What to check before buying
- Confirm the exact model. Check that the quote and product label say SL906DL520, the 520mm single-onboard-motor configuration.
- Check physical fit. Compare the 520 × 290 × 350mm body and 17kg weight with the cabinet, including the installation guide’s cut-out and clearance requirements. Do this before cutting cabinetry.
- Confirm the cooktop clearance. Use the manual’s range for the fuel type, measure from the top of the trivets to the hood underside, and have the installer check local requirements.
- Validate the duct route. Ensure the site can accommodate the specified 150mm diameter and an appropriate route to the external termination.
- Get warranty terms in writing. Sirius lists three years, extended to six years when Sirius ducting is used; confirm what qualifies and which terms apply to your purchase and installation.
- Assess the evidence against the price. Treat the airflow and lighting as manufacturer specifications. If verified noise or independently tested extraction is essential, obtain accessible model-specific results before committing.
