The Sirius SL906-L520 is listed as a 52 cm ducted undermount rangehood, but CHOICE marks it both discontinued and “Not tested.” That means there is no verified test-based verdict on its extraction, noise or cooking-fume capture. The published listing offers a few installation clues; it does not establish the hood’s current condition, parts availability or complete installation requirements.
What model is the Sirius SL906-L520?
CHOICE lists the product as “Sirius SL906- L520,” a 52 cm ducted undermount rangehood. Sirius’s specification index separately identifies “SL906-L 520” as a 520 mm onboard undermount model. The spacing differs, but both listings point to the older onboard model; check the rating plate on the appliance before ordering parts or treating another model’s documentation as applicable. CHOICE’s listing and Sirius’s specification index are the relevant references.
Sirius also lists SL906DL520 and SL906EMEL520 separately. Those are distinct model codes, not interchangeable names for the SL906-L520.

CHOICE labels the exact SL906-L520 “Not tested.” Its listing therefore does not provide a test-based extraction result, noise measurement, capture-efficiency assessment or comparative rank. These are values reported in CHOICE’s listing, not a substitute for checking the appliance itself, its installation manual or local installation requirements. In particular, do not use the unusually small first dimension to determine cabinet clearance or a cutout.

Which specifications should not be borrowed from newer models?
The current Sirius page for the SL906EMEL520 describes a different, offboard Kiara model and names SEM11, SEM21 and SEM51 external motors. Those details do not establish which motor the older SL906-L520 uses or whether it accepts any of them. See Sirius’s SL906EMEL520 page only for information about that separate variant.

What to check before reusing the hood or choosing a replacement
- Identify the exact model: Read the rating plate and retain the full model code, including suffixes, for any parts or service enquiry.
- Measure the installation: Confirm the cabinet opening, hood dimensions, outlet position and available clearance. Do not assume another SL906 variant has the same cutout.
- Check the duct route: Compare the actual outlet and duct path with the listed 150 mm diameter. Route length, bends and transitions can affect whether an installation is suitable; have the setup assessed if uncertain.
- Confirm support and consumables: Ask the manufacturer or a qualified service provider about filters, parts and service for this exact discontinued model. Availability is not established by the listing.
- Compare replacement documentation: For each candidate, verify width, cutout, duct outlet and route, mounting height, extraction rating and its test basis, noise measurement conditions, filter availability, motor arrangement, warranty and service support. Do not infer those facts from a shared product-family name.
If you are changing ducting or installing a replacement, check its exact instructions and use qualified installation support where needed. A matching nominal duct diameter alone does not confirm compatibility with the appliance or the route.
