Siri AI beta is coming to Apple TV 4K (2nd generation) and later. Apple TV 4K (1st generation) and Apple TV HD fall below Apple’s stated compatibility threshold, even though they support ordinary Siri in supported regions. The Apple TV beta requires tvOS 27.2 and a compatible Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad in the Home setup.
Which Apple TV models support Siri AI?
Apple says Siri AI beta is available on Apple TV 4K (2nd generation or later). That includes the second-, third-, and newly announced fourth-generation Apple TV 4K. Apple’s announcement, dated October 13, 2026, specifies beta availability in tvOS 27.2. Apple’s announcement gives the eligibility threshold; its Apple TV model guide identifies supported models for tvOS 27.

Siri and Siri AI are not the same feature
Ordinary Siri has long been available on Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation and later) in supported regions and languages. It can search for entertainment and apps. That support does not make those older models compatible with Siri AI, Apple’s newer conversational assistant experience powered by Apple Intelligence. Apple’s support pages describe ordinary Siri on Apple TV and using Siri to search on Apple TV 4K; the Siri AI generation cutoff is stated in the 2026 launch announcement.

Apple’s launch announcement describes Siri AI as a beta, with these requirements for Apple TV:

- For personal-context requests, a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled device with Siri AI enabled and a supported language.
Apple’s initial Apple TV Siri AI availability is English in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa, and the United Kingdom. Apple notes that features may vary by region and language, so a compatible model alone does not guarantee access in every location.
What Siri AI can do on Apple TV
Apple describes a full-screen, conversational way to find and explore entertainment. Its examples include asking which Apple TV shows won Emmy Awards, where a show was filmed, or whether a title is suitable for a 15-year-old. A request such as “Play the show Alinda recommended” draws on personal context and requires the paired Apple Intelligence-enabled device described above.

The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K has three far-field microphones for hands-free Siri activation. Apple’s announcement does not establish that older eligible models have those microphones or every hardware-enabled experience of the new model; it establishes that Siri AI software access starts at the second generation.

If you have Apple TV 4K (2nd or 3rd generation), your model meets Apple’s stated generation threshold. The key checks are tvOS 27.2, the required Home-owner iPhone or iPad setup, and availability in your language and region. Apple has not said that owners of these eligible models must buy the fourth-generation device to use Siri AI beta.

Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K (1st generation) do not meet the threshold. If Siri AI is the reason for considering a replacement, the fourth-generation model is compatible, but the second-generation Apple TV 4K is the oldest eligible generation. Buying an older compatible model does not establish that every new-model hardware feature will be present.

Apple announced the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K on October 13, 2026. The U.S. launch price is $299, with availability stated to begin November 13, 2026; these are Apple’s announced U.S. launch details, not a current retailer quote or a universal price. Apple says its A19 model has up to 50 percent faster CPU performance and up to 2x faster GPU performance than the previous generation. Those are Apple’s comparisons, not independent benchmark results.

Apple’s product-marketing vice president Bob Borchers described the experience as: “With Siri AI, finding something to watch becomes a full-screen, conversational experience, and with built-in far-field microphones, it’s completely hands-free.” The hands-free microphone reference describes the new Apple TV 4K and should not be read as a claim about older models.
