No, you can’t install and run the full version of The Sims 4 directly on an iPad. EA lists the game for PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation, not iPadOS. If you own Sims 4 on a Steam computer, however, you can stream it to an iPad with Steam Link. The game still runs on the computer; the iPad displays it and sends your inputs. EA’s The Sims Mobile is available for iPad, but it is a separate game.
Can you download The Sims 4 on an iPad?
There is no iPad version of the full Sims 4 listed by EA. Its supported-platform information names PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation, and its Sims 4 store page links to Windows, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, Steam, and Epic options. How to play Sims 4 on an iPad with Steam Link
Steam Link offers a way to play remotely if you have Sims 4 through Steam and a computer capable of running it. Steam lists Sims 4 as supporting Remote Play on Tablet, and Steam Link supports iOS tablets. - Set up the network. Connect the computer and iPad to the same network for initial setup. Steam Link requires a wireless router operating on 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. Steam Link setup instructions
- Install and pair Steam Link. Install the Steam Link app on the iPad, open it, and follow its pairing steps to connect to the computer running Steam.
- Start the game from the streamed session. Once connected, launch Sims 4 through Steam. The computer must remain available to run the game while you play.
- Check input and connection before leaving home. Test the controls and stream on the network you plan to use. Remote play depends on the host and network, and Valve’s documentation does not guarantee performance on every iPad or connection.
Do you need a controller?
A controller is optional; Steam’s listed supported inputs include MFi controllers, Xbox One S controllers on iOS 13 or later, DualShock 4 controllers on iOS 13 or later, and the Razer Kishi. The cited setup information does not make a controller mandatory for Sims 4, so check whether the controls you prefer work for your setup before relying on them.

Does the iPad need to meet Sims 4 computer requirements?
No. Those specifications apply to the host computer, not the iPad. EA’s FAQ lists the PC minimum as 64-bit Windows 10, a supported CPU, 4 GB RAM, 25 GB of free disk space, and compatible graphics. The Mac version has separate requirements, including macOS 10.15 and Metal support. Check EA’s current requirements page for the host specifications because they can change. What can prevent Steam Link play?
- No compatible host: Steam Link streams a game running on a computer; it does not replace one or install Sims 4 locally on the iPad.
- Network trouble: The stream relies on the connection between the iPad and host. Weak or unreliable Wi-Fi can make remote play unsuitable, and hotel or other public networks may not work as expected.
- Control mismatch: A control setup that pairs successfully may still be awkward for the way you play. Test input in advance rather than assuming every accessory or configuration is supported.
- Offline expectations: EA says Sims 4 can be played offline once installed, though internet is needed to activate it and use online features. Is The Sims Mobile the same as Sims 4?
No. The Sims Mobile is a distinct mobile game, not a port of Sims 4 and not a way to open a Sims 4 save or install the computer game. EA’s requirements page lists iPadOS 11.0 or later for The Sims Mobile, while noting that supported devices may change. EA and Steam documentation cited here do not establish an official cloud-gaming catalog route for Sims 4 on iPad. Don’t assume a cloud service can stream it unless that service currently lists the game and supports play on your iPad or browser.
