The Silent Partner Cosmopolitan is a discontinued Australian pocket-spring mattress listed as firm, but the available evidence does not establish how well it performs in formal testing. Reviews point to a possible benefit for couples—some users report little partner disturbance—alongside a clear comfort risk: some owners found it too hard. If you are considering one, treat the reviews and historical prices as context, not proof of current condition, availability or value.
What the Silent Partner Cosmopolitan is
CHOICE lists the Cosmopolitan as a queen-size spring mattress with a firm claimed feel and a pocket-spring core. Its listing gives a profile of 28 cm, a weight of 42 kg, 11 layers and 290 springs per square metre. These are listed specifications, not a substitute for an assessment of a particular mattress that may have been used or stored for years. CHOICE’s product listing marks the model discontinued.
Other Australian listings also identify it as discontinued: ProductReview.com.au lists the Queen as discontinued, while Bedbuyer marks both Firm and Medium versions discontinued. That means current new-stock availability is not established; any remaining listing should be checked with the seller rather than assumed to represent current inventory. ProductReview.com.au’s owner-review page and Bedbuyer’s Firm and Medium pages provide those status details.

Firmness may suit some sleepers and put others off
Bedbuyer’s 2021 review describes the Firm version as very firm and suggests trying the Medium if you prefer a less firm feel. That is a reviewer’s impression, not a laboratory result or a guarantee of how a particular sleeper will experience it. Bedbuyer’s Firm review was last updated on 30 May 2021.

Owner comments on ProductReview.com.au show a mixed experience. Some reviewers describe the mattress as comfortable and satisfying; others say it is excessively firm or report discomfort around the central motion-deflection barrier. The site displays a 2.7 rating from seven reviews (retrieved in 2026; the page does not state a publication year). That score summarizes a small, self-selected set of posts, so it should not be treated as a representative measure of buyer satisfaction. Read the owner reports for the range of experiences.
Partner disturbance is a reported advantage, not a measured result
Bedbuyer’s reviewer says partner disturbance is minimal, and some ProductReview.com.au owners report a similar experience. This is a recurring positive in the available comments, but the cited pages do not provide an accessible, quantified motion-transfer test. If movement transfer matters to you, try the mattress with a partner if a safe, suitable example is available; do not assume every used mattress or every sleeper will behave alike.

What owners say about durability
Some ProductReview.com.au accounts mention sagging over time. The reports establish that owners have raised the issue, but they do not show how often it occurs, when it began, or whether the cause was the mattress, its base, use or age. They cannot establish a defect rate. CHOICE lists sagging resistance among its assessment categories, but its actual result is not available on the retrieved public page.

CHOICE’s page exposes assessment categories including support, stability, sagging resistance, breathability, wear resistance and temperature. The actual test results and expert rating are member-only on the retrieved listing. Historical prices are not current offers
The available prices are historical references, not evidence of today’s market value or stock. CHOICE lists A$1,699 and reports a paid price of A$1,150 after sale or bargaining; the retrieved CHOICE page does not state a publication year. Bedbuyer’s 2021 pages list a recommended retail price of A$1,699 for the Firm Queen and A$2,299 for the Medium Queen. These are listed figures from their respective sources, not representative sale-price statistics or current quotes. CHOICE, Bedbuyer Firm and Bedbuyer Medium provide the historical price context.
What to check before buying a used one
Because the model is discontinued and current availability is unverified, evaluate the specific mattress and the seller’s current terms rather than relying on old product pages.

- Condition: Inspect the sleeping surface and edges for visible dips, unevenness or damage. Ask how long it has been used and whether it has been stored flat and dry.
- Comfort: If possible, lie on the actual mattress in your usual sleeping position. The mixed reports on firmness make personal comfort especially important.
- Base: Confirm that the mattress has been used with a suitable, level base; the available owner comments do not establish the cause of reported sagging.
- Terms: Confirm the current price, delivery arrangements, return or exchange terms, and any warranty directly with the seller. Historical pages do not verify current policies or support.
- Value: Compare its condition and asking price with available alternatives. The old recommended prices do not prove that a used or remaining-stock example is worth a particular amount.
Who should consider the Cosmopolitan?
It may be worth investigating if you prefer a firm mattress, can assess the particular unit, and value the reports of reduced partner disturbance. It is a weaker choice if you already know that very firm mattresses cause discomfort, need a dependable current warranty or exchange option, or would be relying on the old reputation to judge an uninspected mattress. The evidence supports a cautious, condition-specific decision—not a general endorsement or rejection.
