To show a separate prone button in Call of Duty: Mobile, select the mode you want to configure, turn off Hide Prone Button (Hold Crouch to Prone) in Settings > Basic, then reveal and position the button in Controls > Custom Layout for that same mode. Save the layout and test it in Practice.
Enable the separate prone button
- Select your mode. Choose Multiplayer or Battle Royale, depending on where you want the separate button to appear.
- Disable the hide setting. Open Settings > Basic and turn off Hide Prone Button (Hold Crouch to Prone). This is the current in-game label and path reported by a walkthrough checked on August 25, 2026; menu labels can change with updates. Tech How’s walkthrough gives the exact toggle sequence. Activision’s older guides confirm the customizable controls and combined crouch/prone behavior, but do not document this newer toggle. Activision’s controls guide
- Set the mode’s HUD. Open Controls > Custom Layout for the mode you selected. Make the prone control visible, then drag it to a reachable location. Resize it if needed to avoid overlapping other controls. Activision documents that on-screen controls can be customized. Activision’s setup guide
- Save and test. Save or apply the layout, enter Practice for the same mode, and tap the separate prone icon. Your character should go fully prone. If the button is still hidden, confirm the hide setting is off and that you edited the layout for the mode you are testing.
How the prone button differs from the combined control
COD Mobile also has a combined Crouch/Prone/Stand/Slide control. Activision’s controls guide describes its default behavior: tap to crouch, hold to go prone, and tap while sprinting to slide into a crouch. The separate prone button is an additional on-screen control that lets you go prone with a tap; it is hidden when the named hide setting is enabled. Activision explains the combined control.
Does the setting apply to every mode?
The current walkthrough places the custom layout under the selected mode’s controls. Configure the mode you intend to play, and repeat the layout change for another mode if you want a separate prone button there too. Test each mode after saving its layout.

Do you need a controller or accessory?
No. This is a software setting and HUD-layout change. Activision describes COD Mobile as using touchscreen controls with a customizable on-screen layout. Controllers are supported for matches, but one is not required to reveal the separate prone button. Activision’s setup guide Activision Support’s controller information
