For U.S. buyers, there is no need to wait for the current generation: Samsung announced the Galaxy A57 5G and A37 5G on March 25, 2026, and began U.S. availability on April 9. Samsung’s U.S. lineup now lists the A57, A37, A27 and A17 for purchase. Buy one now if your phone is failing or a current model meets your budget and feature needs. Waiting is reasonable only if your existing phone still works and you want to preserve the option of a future discount or an as-yet-unannounced model.
What is actually available now?
The biggest correction to the “upcoming Galaxy A-series” assumption is timing. Samsung’s March 25, 2026 Newsroom announcement says the Galaxy A57 5G and Galaxy A37 5G would be available in the United States starting April 9, 2026. They are not pending releases. Samsung’s U.S. Galaxy A-series lineup, accessed October 13, 2026, lists four current phones: A57 5G, A37 5G, A27 5G and A17 5G.
The announcement gives U.S. starting prices of $549.99 for the A57 5G and $449.99 for the A37 5G. The current lineup page lists starting prices of $349.99 for the A27 5G and $249.99 for the A17 5G. These are published starting prices rather than guaranteed checkout totals. Storage configuration, sales, trade-in terms, carrier offers, taxes and inventory can change what you actually pay.
Samsung’s reviewed Newsroom index includes the A57/A37 announcement and a June 25, 2026 A27 item, but it does not establish a launch date for a later A-series generation. That absence is not proof that no other announcement exists; it means you should not treat a successor as imminent without checking a current official Samsung announcement.

How the four phones differ in everyday use
Display and scrolling
All four listed models use a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display. The A57 is identified as Super AMOLED Plus. Refresh rate separates the entry model from the rest: the A17 is listed at 90Hz, while the A27, A37 and A57 are listed at 120Hz. A higher refresh rate can make scrolling and compatible animations look smoother, but it does not by itself determine brightness, color accuracy or camera quality.
Memory, storage and expansion
The A17’s listed 4GB of RAM and the A27’s 6GB/128GB configuration target lower prices. The A37 adds an 8GB/256GB option, while the A57 is listed with 8GB and either 128GB or 256GB. If you keep many large games, offline videos or photos, the 256GB versions reduce the need to manage storage.

Expansion is a major dividing line. Samsung lists microSD support up to 2TB for the A17 and A27, but not for the A37 or A57. The “up to 2TB” figure describes card capacity support, not included storage, and a card is purchased separately. Choose the A17 or A27 if removable storage is a requirement rather than a nice-to-have.
Battery and charging
Samsung lists a 5,000mAh battery for each of the four models. The A17 and A27 support up to 25W wired charging; the A37 and A57 support up to 45W. Samsung says the 45W Super Fast Charger for the A37 and A57 is sold separately and recommends Samsung-approved chargers and cables. Include that accessory cost if you are upgrading specifically for the faster charging rate.
Samsung’s comparison lists no wireless-charging support for these phones. A wireless charging pad will not add that capability, so buyers who require cable-free charging should not select one of these models on the assumption that the feature is present.

Cameras and video
Each model has a listed 50MP main camera, but the supporting cameras vary:

- A57: 12MP ultrawide and 5MP macro cameras.
The A27, A37 and A57 are listed for 4K video at 30 frames per second. The A17 is listed for FHD video at 30 frames per second. A larger megapixel number does not establish better real-world photos; image processing, focus performance, stabilization, lighting and the quality of the ultrawide lens also affect results. Select the A57 or A37 for the stronger supporting-camera specifications, not because 50MP alone guarantees a better picture.
Software support and the cost of keeping a phone
Samsung says supported devices including the A57 and A37 can receive up to six generations of Android OS and One UI upgrades, plus up to six years of security updates. “Up to” is important: Samsung qualifies availability and timing by model and market. A U.S. schedule may not match another country’s schedule, and a maximum commitment is not a promise that every update arrives on the same day everywhere.

Long support makes buying a current A-series phone easier to justify when you plan to keep it for several years. It also reduces the practical benefit of waiting solely for a newer model if your present phone is already unreliable: the time spent without a dependable device can outweigh a speculative future improvement. Conversely, if your current phone is secure, functional and receiving updates, waiting costs little other than the possibility of missing a current sale.
When buying now is the rational choice
Your current phone is failing
Replace it now if the battery is swelling, the phone shuts down unexpectedly, the charging port is unreliable, the screen is unusable, or essential apps no longer run. A future launch date cannot solve an immediate reliability or safety problem.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsYour budget and required features already match
Choose the A17 at the lowest listed starting price if you need a 5G Samsung phone, 128GB of storage and microSD support and can accept a 90Hz display, 4GB of RAM, 25W charging and FHD video. Move to the A27 for a 120Hz display, 6GB of RAM, 4K video and the same microSD category. The A37 is the middle option for a 120Hz display, 45W charging, an 8MP ultrawide option in its higher configuration and up to 8GB/256GB. The A57 is the top listed A-series model, adding 8GB configurations and a 12MP ultrawide camera while retaining 45W charging.

You need a phone before an uncertain event
Do not delay a necessary purchase for an unconfirmed successor. Official pages establish that the A57 and A37 are already available; they do not establish a later-generation date. If you need a phone for travel, work, school or a contract replacement, compare the four available models and buy the least expensive one that satisfies your non-negotiable requirements.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. When waiting makes sense
Your current phone remains adequate
Waiting is sensible when your existing phone works reliably, receives security updates and meets your performance, camera and battery needs. You preserve the option of buying a future model, buying the current model after a discount, or deciding that an upgrade is unnecessary.
You are waiting for a specific missing feature
Write down the feature that would change your decision before you wait: removable storage on a higher-end model, wireless charging, a particular camera capability, more storage, or a lower price. The current comparison lists no wireless charging on any of these four phones and no microSD slot on the A37 or A57. If that is your reason for waiting, verify that a future announcement actually includes the feature instead of assuming a new model will add it.

You want to watch prices rather than predict releases
A price-drop strategy is more defensible than a release-date prediction. Set a maximum price for the model and storage you want, then check Samsung and your carrier for current promotions. A sale can change the value calculation immediately, while the date and specifications of a successor remain unknown.
Quick Recap
A practical decision checklist
- Set the deadline. If your phone cannot safely or reliably last until an unknown announcement, buy now.
- Set the maximum total cost. Include tax, the storage tier, trade-in conditions, carrier requirements and, for the A37 or A57, a compatible 45W charger if you want the advertised charging speed.
- Choose must-have hardware. Mark 120Hz, microSD, 4K video, 256GB storage, 45W charging and camera requirements. Eliminate models that miss a non-negotiable item.
- Check your market. The prices, configurations and availability above are U.S.-specific. Use your local Samsung site for local model numbers, bands, warranty terms and pricing.
- Verify the checkout listing. Confirm seller, storage capacity, unlocked or carrier status, return policy, inventory and the exact model number before paying.
- Only then consider waiting. If your current phone passes the reliability and security checks, waiting for a confirmed announcement or a concrete discount is optional. Do not assign a date to a successor that Samsung has not published.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Calling the A57 or A37 “upcoming.” Both were announced March 25, 2026 and became available in the U.S. April 9.
- Reading a starting price as a final price. Samsung’s figures exclude variables such as taxes, storage choices and changing promotions.
- Assuming all A-series phones have the same camera system. The 50MP main-camera rating is shared, but ultrawide, macro and video specifications differ.
- Assuming a charger is included. Samsung states that the 45W charger for the A37 and A57 is sold separately.
- Assuming support timing is identical worldwide. Samsung’s six-generation and six-year figures are maximum stated commitments qualified by model and market.
- Buying the wrong storage strategy. The A17 and A27 support microSD up to 2TB; the A37 and A57 do not.
Bottom line for each type of shopper
- Need the least expensive current option: Start with the A17 at Samsung’s listed U.S. price of $249.99, then confirm that 4GB RAM, 90Hz, 25W charging and FHD video are sufficient.
- Want the best value with expandable storage: The A27 starts at $349.99 and combines 6GB/128GB, a 120Hz display, 4K/30 video and microSD support.
- Want faster charging and a higher configuration: The A37 starts at $449.99, offers 45W charging and is listed in 6GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB versions; budget separately for the charger.
- Want the highest listed A-series tier: The A57 starts at $549.99, with 8GB configurations, a 12MP ultrawide camera and 45W charging; it also lacks microSD and wireless charging.
- Have a working phone and no urgent feature gap: Waiting is reasonable, but treat it as preserving flexibility, not as a bet on a known launch date.
