To keep Soul and pursue the alternate rewards, collect the dead soldier’s PDA and follow Professor Zaretskyi’s body-in-anomaly request before showing Mateus the PDA. Giving Soul directly to Zaretskyi is a simpler sale, but guides report a Ward-standing trade-off. Reward amounts can vary with difficulty, so treat published coupon totals as examples rather than guaranteed payouts.
What are the choices in All That Is Left?
All That Is Left is a side mission at the Chemical Plant. Lieutenant Mateus offers the quest, and Professor Zaretskyi contacts you after you recover the Soul artifact. Both want Soul, but the alternate PDA and body route can let you retain it while completing extra objectives. This is best understood as a Ward-side quest with several outcomes—not a confirmed three-way dialogue choice between the Ward, SIRCAA, and yourself.

A walkthrough reports that the quest requires Ward alignment. The available guides do not establish exactly how SIRCAA story progression affects its availability, so do not assume the mission will remain open after a major story choice. If it is available and you want to complete it, consider doing so before advancing that storyline.

How to keep Soul and pursue the extra rewards
- Find the dead soldier’s PDA. Guides place it in the underground area. Recover it before making a final decision about handing over Soul.
- Follow Zaretskyi’s request about the body. The alternate route involves throwing a Warden’s body into an anomaly. The walkthrough sources describe completing this task for a separate reward.
- Show the PDA to Mateus. Guides say this can trigger another payment while you retain Soul. Follow the quest markers and dialogue prompts available in your save; exact sequencing and reward totals are guide-reported and may vary.
If the body objective does not advance after you agree to throw it into an anomaly, GSC Game World’s May 15, 2025 Patch 1.4 notes say: “Fixed an issue when the All That Is Left mission could not be finished if the player agreed to throw Wardens body into an anomaly.” That documents a historical fix, not a guarantee that every current save is free of bugs.
Is keeping Soul worth it?
A guide reports that Soul increases Endurance while equipped, but also increases radiation. It gives no numerical values, so weigh the benefit against the radiation cost using the artifact effects displayed in your own game. Keeping it is most attractive if you want the artifact and are willing to manage that drawback; the direct handoffs trade it away for a simpler reward.

- Prioritize Ward standing: Give Soul to Mateus. Guides characterize this as the Ward-friendly direct choice.
- Want the artifact and the listed extra payouts: Collect the PDA, complete the body-in-anomaly objective, and then show Mateus the PDA.
- Prefer a direct handoff to the scientist: Give Soul to Zaretskyi, accepting the Ward-standing consequence reported by one guide.
- Want to keep Soul without additional tasks: Keep it, understanding that the guide-listed payouts are tied to the other routes.
