The vivo X Fold5 is the more portable option, with a larger listed battery; the X Fold3 Pro has faster rated charging and higher stated telephoto and front-camera resolutions. Both use Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and have the same-size inner and cover displays, so the choice is about those trade-offs—not a newer processor generation or larger screens.

What changes most in everyday use?
The X Fold5 is lighter and thinner on the listed specifications
vivo lists the X Fold5 at 217g in Gray or 226g in White, compared with 236g for the X Fold3 Pro. Folded thickness is listed as 9.2mm or 9.7mm for the X Fold5 depending on color, versus 11.2mm for the X Fold3 Pro. That makes the Fold5 the more pocketable choice on paper, though the exact difference depends on the color variant.

Battery capacity and charging speed point in opposite directions
The X Fold5 has a listed typical capacity of 6000mAh, 300mAh more than the X Fold3 Pro’s 5700mAh. The X Fold3 Pro, however, has the higher rated charging speeds: 100W wired and 50W wireless, compared with 80W wired and 40W wireless on the X Fold5. Capacity and rated wattage do not establish real-world battery life or charging time; those depend on usage, charger, temperature and other conditions.
Camera resolution is not a quality verdict
The X Fold3 Pro lists a 64MP telephoto camera and 32MP inner and cover front cameras. The X Fold5 lists a 50MP telephoto and 20MP front cameras on both displays. The rear-camera sets also differ in resolution: 50MP + 50MP + 64MP on the Pro and 50MP + 50MP + 50MP on the Fold5. Megapixel counts alone do not show which phone takes better photos; sensor, optics, processing and independent image results matter.
Screen size and chipset are not upgrade reasons
Both models list an 8.03-inch inner display, a 6.53-inch cover display and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Their listed resolutions are also identical. The Fold5 specifies adaptive 1–120Hz LTPO for its displays, while the Pro lists 120Hz; that specification difference is not a change in display size or chipset generation.

How much cheaper was the X Fold5 at launch in India?
vivo India announced the X Fold5 at ₹149,999 on July 14, 2025. A vivo Community forum result reports a ₹159,999 pre-order price for the X Fold3 Pro 16GB/512GB. Those historical figures imply a ₹10,000 lower launch/pre-order figure for the Fold5, but the Pro figure is lower-confidence forum reporting and the two prices are not a verified current-market comparison. The X Fold5 announcement is from vivo India; the X Fold3 Pro price report is from vivo Community, with no date established in the result. vivo announced the X Fold3 Pro in India on June 6, 2024 (launch announcement).
Current street prices, stock and availability were not verified. Check the price for the exact regional SKU, storage configuration and warranty before deciding; do not treat the ₹10,000 historical difference as today’s price gap.
Which model should you choose?
- Choose the X Fold5 if portability and its higher listed battery capacity matter most, and you are comfortable with its lower rated charging speeds and lower stated telephoto/front-camera resolutions.
- Consider the X Fold3 Pro if its higher rated wired and wireless charging speeds or higher stated telephoto and front-camera resolutions better match your priorities. Those resolutions do not guarantee better photos.
- If you already own the X Fold3 Pro, the Fold5’s main listed gains are lower weight and folded thickness, a 300mAh larger typical battery, and newer listed storage and launch software specifications. The chipset and display sizes remain the same, while rated charging is slower.
Before buying either foldable, confirm the exact regional model and network-band compatibility, software build, warranty and local service options, as well as the current price. Regional ROM and update availability can differ, and launch OS listings do not establish how long either phone will receive updates.
