What is the Smeg FAB32RPG5AU?
It is a freestanding refrigerator with a refrigerator compartment above a separate bottom freezer, finished in pastel green and styled in Smeg’s 50’s-inspired range. Smeg lists 331 L total capacity: 234 L for fresh food and 97 L for frozen food. Those figures describe the manufacturer’s stated volumes, not a comparison of usable space against other models. Smeg’s Australian product page identifies this exact colour and model.

Will it fit your kitchen and delivery route?
The refrigerator measures 1968 mm high, 601 mm wide and 728 mm deep without the handle. Smeg lists 768 mm depth with the handle and 1197 mm depth with the door open to 90 degrees. The listed width with doors opened to their maximum is 926 mm. Measure the cabinet opening, intended clearance and the route into the kitchen—not just the appliance’s narrowest dimensions.

Smeg also lists a 40-hour temperature-rise time and a freezing capacity of 6 kg per 24 hours. These are manufacturer specifications; the publicly available information cited here does not establish independent performance results for those measures.

How much does it cost to run?
The published energy information is inconsistent, so a precise running-cost estimate should start with the label on the exact appliance being sold. Smeg Australia’s current product listing gives 204 kWh/year and energy class D. CHOICE’s model page reports 298 kWh/year and a 4-star rating, and identifies 2023 as the year tested. An older Smeg FAB32 family brochure also gives 298 kWh/year and 4 stars. The available information does not establish whether the difference reflects a label or model revision, or a difference in published data.
For context, multiplying a consumption figure by your electricity tariff gives a simple annual estimate, but it does not resolve the conflicting inputs or account for household use and conditions. Use the energy label attached to the exact SKU offered for sale and your electricity rate rather than assuming either published figure applies to every unit. Smeg’s exact-model page is the source for its current listing; CHOICE’s model page presents its separate figures.

What do independent reviews establish?
CHOICE has a model-specific page and lists 2023 as the test year. Its public page shows the claimed volumes and 4-star energy rating, but the expert score, detailed test outcomes and good/bad points are member-only. The publicly visible information therefore does not support a conclusion that CHOICE recommends or criticizes this refrigerator.
What is the price, and is it in stock?
When accessed in 2026, Smeg Australia listed a $4,490 price for the exact pastel-green model and marked it out of stock. CHOICE displayed $4,290, but its page does not specify a date for that price, so it should not be treated as a current offer or a like-for-like live comparison. Is the Smeg FAB32 worth the price?
That depends on whether the design and finish matter enough to justify the premium to you. The 331 L stated capacity, bottom-freezer layout and listed storage features may suit a household seeking this particular look, provided the dimensions fit. The available public evidence does not settle its comparative cooling performance, and the energy-data discrepancy makes a running-cost comparison less certain until you verify the label.
