The Samsung Galaxy A57 5G is a capable mid-range phone, but “decent” does not automatically mean good value. Its strongest case is a large 120Hz AMOLED display, a slim design, an IP68 rating and Samsung’s long software-support commitment. Independent reviews find it reliable for everyday use, while flagging launch-price value, camera zoom and performance as reasons to compare alternatives before buying.
What the Galaxy A57 5G offers
Samsung announced the Galaxy A57 5G on March 25, 2026, and said U.S. availability would begin April 9. Its U.S. launch announcement listed a starting price of $549.99; that is a launch price, not a verified current offer. Prices and memory configurations vary by country and retailer, so check the local listing before comparing deals.
The core package is a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED+ display with a refresh rate up to 120Hz, a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilization (OIS), a 12MP ultrawide, a 5MP macro camera and a 12MP front camera. Samsung’s U.S. announcement lists dimensions of 161.5 × 76.8 × 6.9 mm, a weight of 179 g, Android 16 with One UI 8.5, and an IP68 water- and dust-resistance rating. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test findings. Samsung Newsroom U.S.
Samsung UK lists 256GB storage with 8GB memory and 512GB with 12GB; those configurations should not be assumed to apply in other markets. Its product page also describes Nightography and front-camera Super HDR features. Samsung UK’s specifications and features

How it performs in everyday use
TechRadar’s April 23, 2026 review praises the display, software and slim, light design, and describes the phone as an all-day device. That reviewer reported roughly a day and a half of use under average conditions; it is an observation from that review, not a promise of the same endurance for every owner. Samsung specifies a typical 5,000mAh battery and advertises up to 60% charge in 30 minutes with compatible Super Fast Charging 2.0 equipment. TechRadar reported about 90 minutes for a full charge using a compatible 45W charger. Actual battery life and charging time depend on use and equipment.
The software commitment is a notable reason to consider the A57: Samsung promises up to six OS upgrades and six years of security updates. This is Samsung’s support commitment, not independent confirmation of how quickly future updates will arrive in every region. The phone’s IP68 rating is likewise a rated resistance specification; it should not be described as waterproof.

How good are the cameras?
The 50MP main camera has OIS, but megapixel count alone does not establish image quality. In Tom’s Guide’s April 18, 2026 comparison, the main camera captured crisp detail, though the reviewer found colors brighter and sometimes washed out. The same comparison found mixed results from the ultrawide, while the selfie camera produced sharp images that could be overexposed. These are findings from that publication’s sample and comparison, not a guarantee for every scene.
The most meaningful hardware omission for buyers who like to zoom is a dedicated telephoto camera. Tom’s Guide found the A57 less capable at zoom than the Nothing Phone 4a Pro in its comparison. If distant subjects or flexible portrait framing matter, compare camera samples from the specific phones available at your local price rather than relying on the main-camera specification alone. Is the Galaxy A57 worth buying?
It can make sense for someone who prefers Samsung’s interface and values its display, support promise, design and general-purpose reliability. The case is weaker if you are choosing purely on hardware per dollar: TechRadar and Tom’s Guide both questioned its value at launch pricing, and Tom’s Guide also cited performance as a weakness. Neither review establishes that every rival is better; the sensible choice depends on current local price and what you prioritize.

- Price and configuration: Compare the actual local selling price and included storage and memory, not the A57’s U.S. launch price against a rival’s current discount.
- Display and build: Consider whether the A57’s 6.7-inch AMOLED panel, up-to-120Hz refresh rate, slim body and IP68 rating fit your priorities.
- Camera range: Look for a telephoto camera if optical zoom matters, and compare ultrawide results if you often photograph groups or landscapes.
- Performance: If demanding games or sustained heavy workloads are important, give independent performance comparisons more weight than routine-use impressions.
- Battery and support: Compare observed battery life and charging with the support terms you value; manufacturer capacity and update promises are not the same as independent long-term results.
- Ecosystem: Your preference for Samsung’s software and services may matter as much as a specification advantage elsewhere.
