The A.H. Beard King Koil Positano is a premium pocket-spring mattress that CHOICE lists as discontinued. Its maker describes several comfort and support features, but the available material does not establish model-specific independent test results or confirm current stock. Queen-size height and weight also differ between the CHOICE listing and the manufacturer’s brochure, so check the exact configuration before relying on either set of figures.
What kind of mattress is the Positano?
CHOICE describes the Positano as an in-store retail spring mattress with a pocket-spring core and a claimed firm feel. Its listing records four side handles and 14 layers. These details describe the listed product; they do not establish how it performs for a particular sleeper.
A.H. Beard’s Positano brochure describes Tencel, Aerocomfort technology, gel-infused memory foam and a Reflex Max support system using Variable Response Springs. These are manufacturer descriptions of the mattress’s materials and design, not independent findings about pressure relief, temperature regulation, durability or support. The brochure’s promotional line is: “Feel cosy, comfortable, and supported on a Positano mattress.”
Positano Queen specifications: why the figures differ
The two available sources give different Queen-size height and weight figures. The brochure’s figures are for its Medium-feel basis and notes that dimensions and weight vary slightly by feel. CHOICE’s listing does not provide a matching configuration explanation. The sources do not say whether the discrepancy is due to a revision, configuration or measurement method.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
| Source and configuration | Dimensions | Weight | Other listed detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| CHOICE Queen listing | 204 × 153 × 36.5 cm | 53 kg | 266 springs per square metre; 14 layers; four side handles |
| A.H. Beard brochure, Queen, Medium-feel basis | 203 × 153 × 28 cm | 39 kg | Dimensions and weight vary slightly by feel |
Because the measurements conflict, treat them as source-specific rather than combining them into a single definitive specification. If you find a Positano for sale, ask the retailer to confirm the exact feel, size, measured height and weight for the item being offered.
Is the Positano still available?
CHOICE marks its Positano listing discontinued. A.H. Beard’s current King Koil page describes the broader collection, and its retail-partner page lists retailers including Harvey Norman, Forty Winks and Domayne. Those pages establish that the collection and retail relationships exist; they do not confirm that any retailer currently has a Positano in stock. Availability should be treated as unconfirmed unless a retailer verifies the exact model.

What do the listed prices tell you?
CHOICE records A$4,899 as a listed price and A$2,200 as the price paid after sale or bargaining. The surfaced listing does not show when those figures applied, so neither should be treated as a current price or a reliable guide to today’s value. A quote for a mattress described as Positano should identify the exact model, size and feel, and any included delivery or other terms.
How strong is the evidence about comfort and performance?
The available CHOICE listing provides specifications, a claimed firm feel and discontinued status, but not an expert score or detailed model-specific test results. The brochure explains the manufacturer’s design claims; it is not an independent assessment. There is also no verified hands-on evaluation in the available material, so it cannot establish whether the Positano suits a particular sleeping position, body type or comfort preference.

ProductReview.com.au displayed a 2.0 rating across 189 reviews for the broader A.H. Beard King Koil listing in the surfaced result. Those reviews are not shown to be Positano-specific, so that aggregate should not be read as a score for this mattress or as a representative assessment of it.
A.H. Beard’s current King Koil page says the collection is “the only Australian mattress collection recommended by the International Chiropractors Association.” That is the company’s claim about its collection; it does not establish that the association specifically recommends the Positano or that the mattress is a treatment for a health condition.

Who should consider one?
The Positano may be worth investigating if you are offered the exact model and want a mattress described as firm with a pocket-spring core. The decision is harder to support if you need independently verified model-specific performance results or depend on a precise height or weight specification: the available sources do not resolve those questions.

- Confirm the model name and that the mattress is genuinely a Positano, rather than another King Koil product.
- Ask for the specific comfort feel and written dimensions for the offered size.
- Check the current price, delivery terms and return conditions directly with the seller.
- Try the mattress in person if possible, since the listed firm feel and manufacturer comfort claims cannot predict individual comfort.
