The standard Google Pixel 11 is an excellent everyday phone, but its modest gains over the Pixel 10 make it a difficult upgrade to justify at its $899 US launch price. It feels smooth in routine use, brings useful camera features and promises seven years of updates. Yet Tom’s Guide measured slightly shorter battery life than on the Pixel 10, and its performance results show a clear gap to some rivals in graphics-heavy workloads. If you own an older phone or can get a strong trade-in, the Pixel 11 may make sense; Pixel 10 owners should be more selective.
Should you buy the Google Pixel 11?
Buy the Pixel 11 if you want a current Google phone, value its camera tools and long software-support commitment, and are coming from a substantially older device. Think twice if you already have a Pixel 10: the new model’s everyday experience is polished, but the evidence points to an incremental generation rather than a decisive leap.
Google announced the standard Pixel 11 on August 12, 2026, with retail availability scheduled to begin August 20. Its US launch price was $899 for the Pixel 11, compared with $1,099 for the Pixel 11 Pro and $1,299 for the Pixel 11 Pro XL. Those are launch prices, not a statement of today’s price or stock; check current listings before buying. Google’s launch announcement presents the generation as a camera, durability and AI update, but the standard model’s value depends on how much you will notice those changes in practice.
What changed in the Pixel 11?
The standard Pixel 11 has Google’s Tensor G6 processor, 12 GB of RAM and a choice of 256 GB or 512 GB storage. Google also lists a Titan M3 security coprocessor, Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 6. The whole lineup starts at 256 GB, according to Google. Google’s specifications page provides the model details.

- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[2]
- Sleek, solid, and built to last: Pixel 11 has the slimmest camera bar yet in its class, a smooth satin back, and ultra-durable glass and IP68 water and dust protection, so it’s intentionally built to stay strong for years[3,4]
- Long battery life: With 30+ hours of reliable power and upgraded wireless charging, your Google Pixel 11 can charge 25% faster than before[5,6]; it even powers up to 55% in about 30 minutes with ultra-fast wired charging[7]

Google says the Pixel 11’s camera bar is 40% thinner and its main camera uses a larger 48-megapixel sensor with 56% more light sensitivity. The company also lists a 5x telephoto lens with 30x Super Zoom and says Night Sight capture is up to 4.5 times faster. These are manufacturer descriptions; feature specifications alone do not establish that photographs are substantially better in everyday situations. Tom’s Guide characterized the underlying camera hardware as mostly unchanged in its evaluation, despite the announced sensor and software changes.
Google’s Pixel 11 lineup announcement includes software features such as Magic Capture and Rambler transcription. Feature availability varies by model: Google describes HiLight as a Pro and Pro XL feature, so it should not be counted as a standard Pixel 11 benefit. Tom’s Guide also notes creator-oriented tools including Camera Looks and Creator Suite. Check Google’s model-specific feature details before choosing the phone for a particular tool.

How good is Pixel 11 performance?
For routine tasks, the Pixel 11 is a capable, fluid phone. Tom’s Guide says navigation feels smooth and on-device Google AI tasks work well. Its benchmark results, however, suggest that the improvement over the Pixel 10 is modest and that the Pixel 11 has less graphics headroom than the named competitors in its comparison.

These are results reported by Tom’s Guide in its 2026 review, not independent tests conducted for this article. The review also lists an overall 3DMark score of 14,074 for the Pixel 11. The practical takeaway is that ordinary phone use and graphics-intensive play are different workloads: the phone can feel responsive in daily use without matching the benchmark performance of every flagship rival.

How good is Pixel 11 battery life?
Google lists a typical battery capacity of 4,985 mAh and advertises more than 30 hours of battery life. Tom’s Guide, using its own battery-drain test, measured 12 hours 45 minutes for the Pixel 11 and 13 hours 13 minutes for the Pixel 10. Those figures use different measures and conditions: Google’s advertised duration is not the same test as Tom’s Guide’s timed drain result. In that review’s test, endurance was essentially flat year over year, with the Pixel 11 running slightly shorter.
For charging, Google says the phone can reach up to 55% in about 30 minutes with a USB-C PPS charger rated at 30 W or higher; the charger is sold separately. The phone also supports Qi2.2 Pixelsnap wireless charging at up to 25 W. Tom’s Guide reported 52% after 30 minutes in its charging test, which is its result under its review conditions, not a guarantee for every charger or setup. Confirm that a charger supports the specified standard and power level.

Is the Pixel 11 camera a meaningful upgrade?
Google’s specifications give the standard Pixel 11 a broader camera feature set: a larger 48 MP main sensor, a 5x telephoto camera, 30x Super Zoom and faster Night Sight capture. Those changes could matter if you often shoot distant subjects or take night photos, but Google’s feature claims do not quantify the improvement in finished images. Tom’s Guide’s assessment that the underlying hardware is mostly unchanged is a reason to avoid assuming a dramatic photo-quality jump from the spec sheet alone.

Tom’s Guide describes the housing as slimmer and says Google’s official case makes the back sit flush. Google similarly says the phone is virtually bumpless with a Made by Google case. That fit claim applies to the paired case; it does not mean the camera bar is flush without one.

Is the Pixel 11 worth upgrading to from the Pixel 10?
For most Pixel 10 owners, the available evidence does not make the upgrade compelling at full launch price. Tom’s Guide found limited benchmark gains and slightly shorter battery duration in its test, while Android Central’s August 26, 2026 buying advice says the standard Pixel 11 is basically unchanged from its predecessor and advises people with phones less than two years old not to buy. That is one publication’s recommendation, not a rule for every buyer.
Upgrade value changes with your current phone, camera priorities and actual purchase price. A substantial trade-in or discount can make the Pixel 11 more attractive; an older device with weak battery life or no telephoto camera may also make the new features more valuable. Before deciding, weigh the price you can actually pay against your current phone’s condition and the improvements you specifically need.
How long will Google support the Pixel 11?
Google promises seven years of OS, security and Pixel Drop updates for its latest phones. That is a significant ownership benefit for buyers who keep a phone for years. Google’s launch announcement states the duration but does not establish an end date, so the promise should be understood as seven years of updates rather than a specific calendar cutoff.
