Wait or wishlist unless you specifically want the physical Limited Edition. Eternal Anima is an unreleased, single-player JRPG planned for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC through Steam. Its time-travel story, Psychometry object memories, class inheritance, and battle system built around predicting enemy actions are promising, but final digital pricing, reviews, retailer availability, and any early-access period are not confirmed. A preorder is easiest to justify for a collector who wants the announced physical extras.
What Eternal Anima is
Eternal Anima is a single-player Japanese role-playing game from Marvelous. The announced premise centers on a kingdom where hoping for a better future is a capital offense. The protagonist, Wade, travels across different eras while trying to change the conditions that shaped the present. Marvelous USA summarized the premise in September 2026 with the line, “To free the present, one must save the past…”
The setting includes four lost continents and a false paradise called Urvis Ael, known as Urvis Ael in Steam’s description. The game is structured around investigating the past, making choices about inherited abilities, and fighting turn-based battles in which information about the enemy can be used before an action is resolved.
Psychometry: reading memories from objects
Wade’s Psychometry ability lets him read memories embedded in objects. That gives exploration a detective-like dimension: an item is not merely scenery or equipment, but a possible record of earlier events. The announcements do not specify how many objects can be examined, whether every object has a memory, or how branching those investigations are, so those details should not be treated as confirmed features.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Future Sight and turn-based combat
Future Sight lets the player preview enemy actions and rewrite the flow of a battle. This is more specific than a conventional turn-order display: the central promise is that seeing what an opponent intends to do creates an opportunity to alter the outcome. The published descriptions do not establish the exact interface, timing rules, difficulty options, or whether every enemy action can be changed.
Classes and inherited abilities
The game allows Wade to inherit classes and abilities, and Steam describes combining those inherited elements. That suggests a character-building system in which the player can assemble a set of capabilities rather than remain locked to one role. No official announcement yet gives a complete class list, respec policy, level cap, or equipment rules.
Release date and platforms
Marvelous USA announced a worldwide launch on March 4, 2027 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC via Steam. Marvelous Inc.’s corporate schedule repeats those platforms and lists March 5, 2027 for the Steam version in its Japanese release schedule. Steam currently displays March 3, 2027 and marks the game as not yet available.

The publisher announcement is the clearest worldwide date, while Steam’s displayed date can reflect its regional release calendar or storefront time zone. Which Eternal Anima editions are announced?
The United States announcement covers physical editions sold through participating retailers and Marvelous USA’s online store. It does not give final digital pricing, digital bonuses, or preorder dates; those details were explicitly deferred to a later announcement.
| Edition | PlayStation 5 price | Nintendo Switch 2 price | Contents |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard physical | $49.99 | $59.99 | Game |
| Limited Edition physical | $79.99 | $89.99 | Game, two-disc soundtrack, nine character art cards with display stand, and art book |
These are Marvelous USA’s announced United States prices from 2026. They are not a guarantee of prices in other countries, taxes, shipping, or retailer discounts. The Limited Edition costs $30 more than the Standard Edition on each announced console, so its value depends on whether you want the physical collectibles rather than only the game.
Japanese pricing is different
Marvelous Inc.’s Japanese schedule lists a standard-edition MSRP of ¥7,678 and a ¥8,778 Digital Deluxe Edition MSRP. Those figures apply to the Japanese market and should not be converted into a United States price without an official regional announcement. The cited materials do not provide the Japanese Digital Deluxe contents.

What is not yet announced for digital buyers
Do not assume that the physical Limited Edition contents will be included with a digital purchase. Marvelous USA says digital-edition details will be announced later, so the final digital price, edition names, bonuses, and launch timing remain open. Xbox and Steam are confirmed as platforms, but the cited announcements describe the Limited Edition only as a physical release for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2.
Is there early access?
No official early-access period has been announced. The publisher, corporate schedule, and Steam materials cited for the game provide a planned release date but no paid early-access window, review-access program, or separate pre-launch branch.
Steam labels Eternal Anima “not yet available” and offers a wishlist rather than an Early Access branch. That means a preorder should not be treated as permission to play before launch. If a retailer advertises early access, verify that it is an official regional promotion rather than an error or an unrelated bonus.

Should you buy Eternal Anima now?
Buy or preorder the Limited Edition if you are a collector
The Limited Edition is the clearest reason to order before launch. At $79.99 on PlayStation 5 or $89.99 on Nintendo Switch 2 in the United States, it includes a two-disc soundtrack, nine character art cards, a display stand, and an art book in addition to the game. This choice is rational when those physical items are the point of the purchase and you accept that the game has not yet been reviewed.
- Choose PlayStation 5 if you want the lower announced Limited Edition price of $79.99.
- Choose Nintendo Switch 2 if that is your preferred platform and the $89.99 price is acceptable.
- Confirm that the listing is an official participating retailer listing in your country before paying.
Wishlist and wait if you need evidence
Waiting is the safer choice for players who care about performance, story quality, battle depth, accessibility, or value for money. No user reviews are currently on Steam, and there is no confirmed demo. Reviews can also clarify how substantially Psychometry and Future Sight affect play rather than serving as one-off story mechanics.
Wait if you want digital or Xbox flexibility
Digital pricing and bonuses are not final in the cited announcement. If you plan to play on Xbox Series X|S or PC, there is currently no announced physical Limited Edition for those platforms. Waiting lets you compare the eventual digital offer with the physical prices and see whether platform-specific bonuses are added.

How to evaluate a preorder listing
- Check the platform. Confirm that the product is specifically for PlayStation 5 or Nintendo Switch 2 if it claims to be the announced physical Limited Edition.
- Check the contents. The announced bundle should identify the game, two-disc soundtrack, nine character art cards with display stand, and art book.
- Check the price and region. Compare the listing with the announced United States prices of $79.99 for PlayStation 5 and $89.99 for Nintendo Switch 2, while accounting for local taxes, shipping, currency, and regional pricing.
- Check the release date. Treat March 4, 2027 as the announced worldwide date, but allow for regional fulfillment and the different Steam date displays.
- Check cancellation and payment terms. Retailer policies can differ on when payment is taken, whether a preorder can be canceled, and how delayed shipments are handled.
- Do not infer digital bonuses. Digital-edition details were deferred, so a physical listing cannot establish what the eventual digital versions will contain.
What kind of player is Eternal Anima aimed at?
The announced systems point to a player who enjoys story-driven JRPGs but also wants investigation and tactical planning. Time travel provides the narrative framework; Psychometry turns objects into sources of historical information; inherited classes and abilities support experimentation; and Future Sight makes enemy intent part of the turn-based decision process.
That combination may appeal to players who prefer making informed choices over relying entirely on damage calculations. It may be less suitable for someone seeking multiplayer, because Steam lists only single-player play, or for someone who wants a finished product with established performance reviews on day one.
The setting’s central conflict—where hope for a better future is criminalized—also indicates a serious, theme-led story rather than a purely light adventure. The published descriptions do not establish the final tone, length, side-content structure, or age rating, so those should remain purchase questions rather than assumptions.

Key unknowns to monitor before launch
- Final digital prices and the contents of any digital editions.
- Whether a demo, trial, or other hands-on version is announced.
- Independent reviews covering combat depth, pacing, performance, and technical quality.
- Confirmed participating retailers and availability of each physical edition in your country.
- Whether Xbox Series X|S and Steam receive platform-specific bonuses or only standard digital releases.
- Any change to the regional release timing shown by Steam or local storefronts.
Until those points are answered, the purchase decision is mainly about how much you value the announced physical collectibles and how comfortable you are buying an unreleased game without reviews.
